Dom DeLuise’s toupee was the funniest thing about that clip. Burt was sexy but Dom, was hysterically funny! They’re both in Heaven now making everyone there laugh.
I watched this movie in the theater with two friends. After this scene I was picturing Dom Deluise smashed so flat that he had to roll down his socks to shit. I was cracking up and couldn't stop, then my one friend started, then the other one, then the whole section of the theater. It went on for quite awhile.
Wild Heart Ha! This was my fav scene. I was surprised it wasn’t posted! I am a non-monetized channel and I just wanted people to be able to see the scene! Glad you enjoyed it!!
@@SonnyGTA Thanks for posting. I saw it again, a few weeks back on DVD and never tire of it and I'm not ashamed to say that I can probably quote it word for word! 😉
Wild Heart You can? Then you’re awesome!!! I have a whole spot in my DVD library of Burt films. Cannonball Run is my absolute fav! I want to tell you...I know it’s a movie but I truly hate that Dom’s character acting like an upset baby was able to have the whorehouse shut down that was open for decades. That really bothered me, ya know?
The most Texan thing about this clip is the two old folks on the picnic bench not reacting at all to their Sheriff firing off a six shooter in front of the town hall!
These were the days when you'd sit with your grandma singing the lyrics, also singing them in (school) as well getting into trouble and having no clue why. The world has become so demonetized you have to be careful of everything you say. I miss these days so bad I'd give anything to go back just for one day.
Love those guys at the picnic table who are almost completely unfazed by the whole incident and go right back to playing cards, eating their lunch or whatever they were doing.
This incident was based off Sheriff TJ Flournoy assaulting Marvin Zindler of KTRK. The sheriff beat up Zindler, broke his ribs, and ripped off his wig. Zindler said the saving grace was that the sheriff didn't go for his gun.
Some of that should hold true today. Some of these news people are out of hand with their tales and stories to suit themselves and their viewers from afar.
Marvin Zindler did do some good work. Traveling around Houston Texas busting unclean restaurants. With Roaches and Rat Droppings. I didn’t care for his character in this movie however. Albeit a true story to some point. I did like Don Deluise and Burt Reynolds acting.
Thorpe is only loosely based on Zindler, who once said his actions against the chicken ranch had little to do with prostitution. It was due to its alleged involvements in organized crime.
What’s interesting is that the journalist Melvin is based off of (Marvin Zindler) actually helped a lot of wronged people and called out shady businesses and unhygienic restaurants all around Houston. He was a showman and a character but people were helped all the same
This is kind of ironic because 7 years in 1989 later both Bert Reynolds and Dom deluise played Charlie and his friends itchy in the movie all dogs go to heaven
The funny thing is that the sheriff of Fayette County and the real Marvin Zindler go into a fight where the sheriff broke to of Marvin's ribs, took the tape an destroyed it only leaving the audio, and taking Marvin's toupee and throwing it into the street.
Keep in mind, Dolly Parton has been married to 1 man since 1978. Theres nothing whoreish about her. Few people stay married longer than 10 years nowadays
Jan 6ers? You mean the people that didn’t want to sit idly by as the election was stolen right in front of our eyes? Todd. You’re a deranged butt hole.
You go bert you tell him I do not know why they even close the chicken ranch downing real in first place it the same as bar now and even back then bert maybe you can straighten out dolly she became a loser
Actually, that sheriff would be in real trouble for violating the United States Constitution and shooting off his weapon like that. He would end up in prison.
How did he violate the constitution? The sheriff told them they were gathering without a permit and as for firing his weapon that would probably be a local crime (city or county) and since he was the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the county who is going to charge him for discharging his sidearm?
Why is there always a single person that cannot look at this as a MOVIE? People don't usually break into song in a whorehouse to attract customers...just sayin'...
The Sheriff would be probably found guilty badmouthing a member of a TV media person and not guilty of firing a warning shot since Texas has a very lenient gun law.
Dom and Burt deserve a joint book biography of their lives, careers and friendship.
Nobody messes with the Sheriff. This is one of my favorite scenes. Rest in peace Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise
It really was my fav part as well. I saw it wasn’t posted on TH-cam so I recorded it. Glad you liked it!

We will never see moments like this in cinema again. All the great actors and actresses of hollywood are long gone or nearly there.
Annnnd....Now everyone is an offended baby and nothing funny can ever be said.
Dom and Burt - 2 of the best -- they really played well off each other.
Hilarious! The playback on the news with every one of the sheriff’s curse words getting bleeped out had me cracking up as well.
R.I.P. Burt & Dom
Omg Burt Reynolds was absolutely gorgeous looking in this movie, also love his his character 💙
WITHOUT CHEATING.... who inspired Burt Reynolds to pursue an acting career?
The town backed him up too 😂

was it just me... or was the shot on the same court house set of the Dukes of Hazzard?
Huh...... that’s an interesting observation. I’m going to try and look that up.
The first episodes of The Dukes were filmed in Conyers, GA. When the show quickly became a hit, filming was moved to California.
