Writing my second book. I agree with you. You have to commit to something beyond logic. The success rate is low, and you can't expect your first book to become a best seller. Yet, if you still have a desire to write despite all of this, then you will do something incredible.

Good point. But I think the delusion of a debute book becoming a hest seller could serve as a motivation for first timers to try their best to write stories. Otherwise they'll fall into procrastination, self hatred, and a state of belief that their not good enough and feel worthless.

100% agree! Create an outline; follow the outline and produce the book. At some point, you have to say that is enough. Then send it to the publisher and editor.

I hundred percent agree, I kept rewriting my book so many goddamn times then next thing you know six years past and I recently got myself in a car accident and I’m stuck in the house for at least two more weeks so I decided to finish it. I already had the book finished two years ago but I was too embarrassed to publish it so for a week I revised it did my goddamn best on it and I just published it. I’m just waiting two days For it officially published.
I’m happy about the book it’s not the best story, but it’s my story and I’m happy to share it with the world

I can agree with this. I used to write for fun and a hobby. I wrote in notebooks and actually have a finished stories but then I don't want to type then out. I finally got a laptop instead so I wouldn't have to worry about writing them then typing them. I am working on writing a book. I am trying to do at least one chapter a day or maybe more. I have set a deadline for my book to be finished so I could hold myself accountable. Fingers crossed it does good.

Great point! Discipline is an ugly word for many, but that’s what it comes down to. To write a 365 page book in one year, it’s only a rate of 1 page per day. Achievable, but you have to ask yourself, do I love writing enough to dedicate an average of 30 minutes a day to write that one page?

I agree. I know know that no matter what hobbies, goal, or ambition you have in life, motivation although also important but it will never be efficant enough to get those things done. Disapoline is the number one ingredient for that. Sure sometimes motivation is handy and makes yltasks enjoyable and fulfilling so theres no need for dusapline, and because it feels natural. But other times you need discipline to push yourself and get those things done. I guess it just depends on what plan or goal you have. Today's my 24th birthday and so I'm gonna really try to finish my book and get it published so I can go oto my next book. I'm gonna self publish.

I think it’s a couple of things. Everything you said is true, but, I believe writers block is also about not having a concise concept in mind. The book must have a goal and a concept of how it will be structured. Why am I writing this? How am I going to tell this story? This provides that motivation to commit. Then you write because you need to. I have to write this because…
If it is important enough, you’ll write because you have something to say… and you won’t if it didn’t matter.

Never write everything you can think of that day. Leaving some of your imagination unwritten until the next day will give you a good start and therefore you wront have writer's block.
However that was not her point. Her point was having the motivation to finish what you started.

Some of us have (or think we have?) another form of "lack of discipline" fear. It goes something like this:
If I actually force myself to commit, I'm absolutely sure it's going to mess with my intuition so badly that I'll be committed.
(Nice room with soft walls, nice white coat with arms that buckle together around back....)

Ive written 5 books and planned like 12 for just one world and for years i havent let only like 3 people see them because of fear of failure and success, but i had like an ephany last night that i wasted the past 10 years of my life at a job i honestly hate, and i just need to do something, so im on a spree of learning more about publishing, book 1 im happy with others feel like they need a pinch more detail and love, but book 7 amd 8 have only been written twice and 9-12 i have an ending and a bit of the middle plot though up of.

Definitely. The other part of this to consider is that the first 5-10 books you write will most likely be unsalable garbage. So you also need enough discipline to write book after book, knowing what you’re doing isn’t working, and understanding that all you’re getting out of this is experience and improvement.
And then even once you start to write good books, it takes a long time to sell one.
If you’re looking to do self-publishing, that’s a bit different, but it still takes a certain level of skill to attract an audience, to understand conflict, tension, POV, promises and payoffs, character arcs, and bridging conflict.
It’s possible. You can do it. You just need to account for the years and years of sheer discipline it will take.

Hi, my name is Victor Huang and I am a 12 year old kid. No matter I am using my sister's account. But okay here’s my story. Any time I cannot publish my manga (real only because I am Asian kid), i cannot publish my manga in my middle school because my publisher told me that I have to redo it again and again and again. So this is my manga that I’m working on: King Hasbro the cute manga. I want to become the manga author and I want to be famous, now. But today, I need to redo my manga today.
