    I think this system will lose lots of energy due to friction. However, the idea is awesome!

    Well it looks cool. Let’s attach a load to output a see how it handles torque under load.

    • @Ingefurly
      @Ingefurly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly. All these "alternative" ideas seem to function, like "infinite energy" or similar, but without any load attached.
      The efficiency of this mechanism in transferring torque and power seems to be very low, anyway.

      I see major frictional losses if a load were applied. Would wear out quickly even with pressurized lubrication

    • @dougcharles5004
      @dougcharles5004 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnw4590 excellent observation, friction,heat, and the undersized bars. It’s a interesting concept but I concur, it’s useful lifespan would be short. Linear bearings possibly lubricant impregnated bushings might improve its survival rate some.

      for the right application it would work just fine

      @@tristengerhardt6748 I can think of a few applications. I think with the right bearings possibly liner and instead of 90’ bends 90’ radius it would be worth a try. The great thing about this video is the conversations it generated the exchange of knowledge and opinions.

    Innovation means reduce in size without any loss (compared with gearbox size and loss does matter)

    how sturdy is this system, deosnt seem like it could handle a whole lot of torque.

    plate bushing will wear out very fast if under load operated.

    Needs concentric layers of bearings to reduce the friction.

    You still using lever principles dude, that principles used in gears too. But it actually fun to watch.

    It was my college project...it undergoes lots of wear and tear

    In my opinion the system is striking, but the lack of lubrication greatly shortens its useful life.

      in practice, it'd be in an oil filled housing like the Almond silent right angle drive of a hundred years ago. made in Ashburnham MAss.
      It's open like this so you can see it.

    Theres no bearing so it means a lot of friction will be pushed through that cylinder walls where the rods go through and forth

    Isnt this what we get when we reduce gear to lever? Cool project though.

    Not able to handle torque, will not sustain wear and the energy wasted is certainly far worse then a gear.

    In gears at a time whole load is on single teeth here if u have 6 rods then they all distribute into 1/6th , getting lubricated is not difficult, by oil chamber or grease, See the Innovation and add innovation

    • @andrzejwasik5159
      @andrzejwasik5159 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, not true. But at the same time you've got 6 times friction losses and no oil will compensate for this.
