I think Krone Big X 1180 is the coolest forage harvester currently. Amazing video! So much action! These guys are doing a good job with good equipment.
Hey Mike, if you're back up at this dairy again during silage with Orrsons feel free to come take some shots of the manure pumping if you want! My family pumps the manure for this dairy they're at! We use a dragline system for stuff that's within roughly a 2 and a half mile distance. Then we have a semi tanking crew come in to haul the manure farther distances to a frac tank that we pump out of from there!
Awesome video Mike!! Thanks for the amazing 52 minutes of chopping action! I didn’t realize Krone’s biggest model could run an easy collect head eating up 14 rows!! That’s impressive!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Awesome video! I remember following Orrson's blog probably over 10 years ago when they got their first Krone and Fendt machines. Great video as always Mike!
Greetings from the UK, your footage is as always, awesome, with plenty of varied interest and you can make them long as you like ! You are the boss man Mike ❤️🏴🇬🇧✌️ 7:14
I did noice that sawitchoff which makes a lot of sense. Some of the others blow a lot back into the field trying to get the truck full. But I also noticed a lot of green in the field where these guys could execute better. Great video that we can see all this stuff!
We do the circle packing for safety. It is hard to see behind the tractor and for the operator always trying to turn their head and watching the mirrors is very nerve racking
Absolutely love your videos! The way in which this people work is simply fascinating. If that corn silage is for a dairy farm those dairy farms must be massive? Gives you a whole new appreciation for what these people do and likewise your vantage points are amazing shearing this with others.
That's crazy how you encountered one of the custom harvesting crews you filmed at the Bob Evans you ate at, and even found their equipment sitting on the back of semi-trucks parked in the parking lot of the hotel you stayed at! :0
This crew is like a well orchestrated symphony where all know just when to jump in to contribute their part of the movement! Real sweet! This crew must be gone for 8 months a year. Not too bad if you are single. Mike would it be possible to film one of the big dairies when covering the silage with the plastic covers? Curious to see how the do that when it is a few hundred feet long and real wide! Thanks again Mike. Happy trails!
Great video! That must be a very skilled and well seasoned crew, because they make it look flawless! I’m digging & appreciating those live bottom trailers where they don’t have to dump and risk tipping a trailer, with a little side, hang up.
Great video Mike. Always wondered which is more efficient when unloading at the silage clamp face, whether drive across the pit or to reverse into the pit face. Brilliant piece of video showing the header folding up, cab and spout returing to road position.
@@farmhandmike I know that the Orbis type heads are very popular for corn, but these seem to knock over far less at the end of the rows. thanks for replying, Mike
How many acres can they harvest in one day? How many tons per acre did this farm produce? Just curious. I can not imagine the expense to start and then actually run an operation like that.
The radio can be very entertaining from time to time. Would have to have a beep editing out some of the stuff to keep it kid friendly. We are usually just letting the trucks know when to pull forward or drop back. Telling the next truck to line up on the next sets of rows if this one is going to be full at the end. We will let trucks know if we find wet or holes spots so they can avoid them. Truck dives talk about road situations or hazards. Packing tractor drivers talk about where they might see a low spot on the pile or if someone like the dairyman, the sample takers or a nutritionist is approaching the pile. We stop all of tractors on the pile if a person walks towards the area.
As a city boy, I love watching your channel because I can't see this in FL. As the chopper does it's job and then pumps it out to the wagons I wonder if the choppers have a "cruise control" that keeps it straight and who controls the chute to the wagons?
Every load crosses a scale at the dairy farm and samples are taken to track moisture level in the crop to adjust the per ton price. Wetter feed less per tons. Cows diets are balanced on dry matter consumed daily so we charge accordingly
Just wondering do these contractors charge by the acre and type of crop or is it hourly rates for the equipment and employees? How many tons to the acre do they average where I’m at in central Washington it’s 30-40
We charge by the ton on a dry matter corrected basis. Try to make it fair for everyone. Add in some mileage if the haul is further than 3 miles. OCFcrew
14 rows is chompin some corn, that spout is blowing hard in those trucks..Great Vid👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Krone is the best ever . Best hay tools ever too

That's some corn chopping sons of guns right there.
These guys will be in central MI next week, our custom crew has worked beside these guys a few years in a row now, they don't screw around
Awesome video Mike!! Thanks for the amazing 52 minutes of chopping action! I didn’t realize Krone’s biggest model could run an easy collect head eating up 14 rows!! That’s impressive!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

That's a heck of a nice stand of corn. Really even and not a single weed. Great video as usual Mike . Thank you
Mike you've done it again what a fantastic video you have captured every thing top man looking forward to your next video thanks again Mike 👍🏴
Excellent video, love watching the Orrson crew whenever I'm lucky enough to see them, they sure don't fool around, thanks for sharing this Mike!
Your farm looks like a paradise! 🌾

*love your video*
They have good communication and work like a well-oiled machine👍👍👨🌾👨🌾🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
Great video Mike 👍👍
A well-coordinated effort by an experienced crew!!!
Great video!
Look how neat they work satisfying my eyes 😊
I find the two tractors piling just going in circles following each other an interesting concept as well. Seems to be very efficient.

This is amazing I come off a small farm in SE Ga
Those choppers are impressive, and the head looks simpler than other brands
Nice video Mike like the way they did everything
Great video Mike

Love your videos! Get to see so many machines I never knew existed!
I love the Banjo music in this video as well as the video
You guys have so huge farms😮😮😮
This crew is like a well orchestrated symphony where all know just when to jump in to contribute their part of the movement! Real sweet! This crew must be gone for 8 months a year. Muy buen video amigo 🎉🎉❤
Work at krone dealer they are very good choopers, just sold a 1180
Awesome
28:04 so nice to see the momma machine take care of the little ones
I like Mike less videos on TH-cam from the imperial county California 🌽🌽🌽👍🖐️🇺🇲
Me too! From southern Tennessee
I know it’s probably not easy but I would love a good shot/over view of the controls in the cab of the chopper or the tractors too. 👍. Great video
I was wondering what they where doing, but it makes sense to do it what way. That is a mighty expensive tow job
Great video Mike. Always wondered which is more efficient when unloading at the silage clamp face, whether drive across the pit or to reverse into the pit face. Brilliant piece of video showing the header folding up, cab and spout returing to road position.
so good❤
Se vieni in italia passa a trovarmi Mike!!!
The green truck looks like an old Transystems truck
it seems that the easy collect head pull in a lot more at the end of the rows, no big clumps falling off the head at the headland
I've heard really good things about the Krone easy Collect head. Year Ago I was out in Arizona and seen Claas choppers with the Krone header on them.
@@farmhandmike I know that the Orbis type heads are very popular for corn, but these seem to knock over far less at the end of the rows. thanks for replying, Mike
Waw..dahsyat
45 trailer would be the best because well if you know you know
I do know.

You should have had a few minutes of the radio chatter. Show us what it’s all about!
The radio can be very entertaining from time to time. Would have to have a beep editing out some of the stuff to keep it kid friendly. Зарплата у механизаторов какая 🇰🇿🙋♂️👍

The choppers have auto guidence the operator controls the chute
If they are like a combine, if you push the hydrostat stick forward and let go, the stick will day there and keep you at that speed
How is your progress on smellavision? I can only imagine. Happy subscriber 😊!
Nice video farmhand mike 👍 have you ever thought about coming up to wny to make silage videos we have tons of action up here combines too.
Yes if it ever worked out I'd love to come up there for some silage videos.
That would be awesome someday
Super les machines😅
Super matos😅
Gute Qualität und er labert nicht so viel schöne Video
Wonder how much compaction damage those trucks are doing. Is it a tradeoff with roadability.
😎😎
How do they haul when it is too muddy in the fields for the trucks?
We have side dump carts and tractors that run beside the chopper and then go dump on the semi beside the road. 2 dumps for a semi load
How many tons per hour can they harvest
I'll see if I can find out.
In this video with good corn, and good conditions we are harvesting about 375-400 tons per hour per chopper. Not all fields go this good
Have you been or will you be going to Tripple R Farms in Georga?
How much price of Cron sailge today per ton
How many tons per acre was this field yielding?
It’s been a year plus but I think it was 27-28 tons per acre
Hay Mike do you have a question on why this custom cutter charges per hour or pure acer
I believe by the ton
How do they figure cost for custom operations
It varies but I think most charge by the ton they chop.
Every load crosses a scale at the dairy farm and samples are taken to track moisture level in the crop to adjust the per ton price. Wetter feed less per tons. Cows diets are balanced on dry matter consumed daily so we charge accordingly
Yeah, everything gets weighed on a big scale at the farm
Mike b 😊
Do they cut corn across the street from Ovid-Elsie Middle/High School (Elsie, Michigan)
I know this crew does chop silage for a dairy in the Elie area.
Who makes their trailers?
MAS out of Dalhart Tx
Just wondering do these contractors charge by the acre and type of crop or is it hourly rates for the equipment and employees?

Do you know the farm name in Georgia?
Not right off I don't.
We cut for multiple dairies but Godfrey dairy is on of the main ones
now get steiner custom farming out of orrville if you want to see the real deal
blues and bluegrass? you bet. I like the choices
