Cricut Joy tutorial | Vinyl on coasters | Great for beginners

  • Welcome to my tutorial on how I used my Cricut JOY to cut some permanent vinyl to personalise some marble coasters. I used smart vinyl and I love this stuff :) no mat is needed to cut it, and I felt that it was easier to weed than standard vinyl. The metallic bling and positive sentiments are sure to improve my coffee table! So please Bee happy, Bee kind and have fun with your Cricut!

    Glad I’m not the only one who has trouble removing image to transfer tape. Beautiful work.

    Really nice tutorial. Thanks for showing design space up close and slow. So many channels zoom through that part and I am older and not very tech savvy.

    Thank you so much. I received the Joy as a gift and will admit that I was intimidated by it, but no longer. Much appreciated!

    Thank you for this video. It was very well explained. Now I know I can make coasters without having to use infusible ink.

    Thank you for this, I have just purchased a Joy and have found it difficult to use, this has helped me understand how it works

    Hello out of all of the demonstrations, of the joy. You explain and show it very well.
    I am having problems with text, wanting to write on cards or sticker paper.
    From this demonstration, I can do images now, well I’m going off to try it now.
    Only had my joy a week and used it once, making cards on the cad mat.
    Hank you.x

    Love this! New to Cricut Joy. Didn’t realize I could use the transfer tape more than once. Great video!

      Thanks for watching. I always reuse transfer tape - I like to maximize the value of everything 😂 and often the more I use it the easier it gets to apply vinyl.

      Yes I also use my transfers more than once.... keep the backing close by to reattached.

    Do you have to spray anything on it to make it water proof - ie for water around the bottle of glasses?

    Can you use a cricut explore air 2 to do this or do you have to use this specific one?

    I have experienced lately many issues with the Cricut transfer tape. Extremely tacky to the point I was unable to transfer a design to a balloon. It was so stuck on the transfer sheet it just did not transfer. Has anybody else had this issue??

    Is it heat resistant also, like for coffee or tea?

      Hi, I used them for ages with hot drinks and no issues. Vinyl still there like the day I applied it. So easy!

    Beautiful coasters. Do you put anything over the vinyl to protect them? What kind of tile are you using?

    • @itsycrafty

      Thank you! I thought I mentioned in the video - oops! They are marble coasters (from KMart). Nothing is needed on top as it's permanent vinyl. Permanent vinyl is guaranteed for 3 years outside use (from memory). I don't use items with permanent vinyl for 48 hours but then I use and any liquid has just beaded on the vinyl and can be wiped off 💕

    Can you use the coaster for hot and cold beverages?? Does it ruin the vinyl?

    • @itsycrafty
      @itsycrafty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I use mine for hot and cold and I haven't had any issues apart from a small antenna has lifted at the end - that could be due to my lack of running over everything firmly with a brayer when it was freshly done so I would recommend ensuring the design is well pushed on to the coaster first :)

    If your Vinyl is already one color why bother changing the color in design space? I'm literally new to Cricut and I've seen a lot of ppl doing this. Can anyone tell me why?

    • @focalpointcreations1731
      @focalpointcreations1731 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you mean when she changed the color of the "Bee Happy text", design space recognizes different colors as different materials, so by setting all at one color you are telling design space that they will be the same material, otherwise if she didn't change the colors and hit "Make it", design space would have placed "bee" on one mat and "happy" on another mat. At least that's what I've gathered so far from using it.
