- This 2022 MIM Fender Vintera 50's Stratocaster in Sonic Blue has loose tuners and sharp fret ends. The owner dropped it off for a setup and we discovered these additional issues. I also had some video and audio problems with this project so, sorry if the overdubs aren't great - lol. Enjoy the video.

Was at guitar center today and checked squire strats, silver sky se's some other imported stuff...they all had sharp fret ends especially past the 12th fret and even more at the body joint. Just no qc at all. Also the factory setup on a couple had fret buzz (ON OPEN STRINGS!) wtf. Looked at one silver sky se that was on clearance for $500, but what crap! Crappy plastic tuners and frets! Might as well buy the cheapest squire, replace some parts and get a $175 Plek job...much better than the SE thing and still $500.
I was such a nerd for locking tuners until I discovered the split post vintage tuners. Now, that’s all I use when doing any upgrades. Love the simplicity, ability to reuse strings, and best of all, nothing pointy sticking out. Better than locking tuners!
I have to agree- locking tuners only advantage would be replacing a broken string quickly on stage...maybe
Nice guitar, lovely colour
First :P
So what do you do with the ball ends of the strings? I cut mine off and save them, I have to large pill containers full, over the years lol
Interesting... what are you going to do with them?
