  • This episode highlights the incredible friendships forged through Overlanding. 1 truck having 3 different owners in succession were all connected through Paul Marsh, who prepared the truck and the travellers for their expeditions through Africa. The truck served them all well and with enormous fondness as it crossed Africa 5 times over 1000’s of kilometres.
Years later the truck has moved on and all 3 owners have moved forward with their lives in different directions, yet the connections made have remained and the passion for overlanding is still in their blood. This film is testimony to relationships and formed and retained, through a commonly shared love for exploring life through overlanding.

Great story! Awesome to see everyone still loves this car!
Im also piecing together the history of my Unimog. I restored mine with a donor for the diesel swap.
What I found out is that my chassis has been in Africa with a small 4 cilinder 65 hp diesel engine. Later it was swapped to a 80hp 5cilinder (I still have this engine in!)
My modified bellhouse is made by a dutch guy. He recognized the part on a FB group.
Also the owner of the original build of the first unimog contacted me. He build up the winch roofrack high air intake. All still on the unimog but all 3 are slightly modified to improve it. He will visit my shop someday so I can show him what I build now.
And he sold the truck for 10000 euro to someone. And that owner neglected the unimog and couldn't afford it. So I bought the unimog when it was parked up by a friend by the previous owner. I payed 3000 euro for it. So he took a big loss.

Fantastic video! I really enjoy how the style of storytelling changes by incorporating all the fantastic adventurers that you have crossed paths with.
In my growth and development of vehicle based adventure travel, I have been exposed to countless varieties of well intentioned explorers and vehicle builders. It wasn’t until I found John Rooth from Australia that I found my niche/groove. From Roothy I found ASPW, and of course Andrew lead me to you guys (Paul and Jo). My perspective has really changed, and my drive to see new places and explore has grown tremendously! For many years I have followed the concept of learning from those that have the results you would like to have, and I believe that learning is in full swing. Thank you for putting out your videos and sharing your story, I appreciate it!

The planning is half the fun! Working on the itinerary now, and we do a 10 minute conversation about our trip every day.
