    Question to Jared at HPN.
    Hi! My question is: For sublimating mugs, tumblers, mouse pads, tote bags, polyester t-shirts I can get the Sublijet Ink?
    And then (using the same printer) if I print directly onto Easy Subly HTV I can apply those designs to cotton and dark color T-shirts?
    The printer I'm talking about is the Virtuoso SG 500 with Sublijet ink because I think that's the one I'm getting and with that ink
    Thanks :)

      Hi there! Yes, SubliJet Inks are compatible with hard substrates as well as EasySubli HTV for dark garments :)

    I'm curious which one works better though, PU or PVC Vinyl? Generally I've had poor experience Sublimating onto PVC Plastics, but I also wasn't printing directly onto them, I was using heat transfer paper to them because it was thicker plastic, not like a film or think sheet that you could put through your printer. Thanks

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most HTV is going to be a PU composition. That's why sublimating onto it is almost always a failure. Siser EasySubli is a special material (not disclosed whether PU or PVC) that allows it to be sublimated.

    • @michealkinney6205
      @michealkinney6205 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HeatPressNation Well, before getting this response I ordered some PU HTV to try.. figured it be useful either way.. because I don't have anything thin for t-shirts. But I was hoping it would take to sublimation printing. I'll still give it a try as my only experience is with PVC, which "works" but comes out very faded (trying a range of settings, pressure, etc). I've seen some print directly onto the HTV, which is cool but I'd be concerned with bleed of the sublimation ink (that doesn't get "transferred" and usually stays behind on transfer paper) if someone washes a garment. But this is an area I know little about and will have to get a crash course in. Thanks!

      If you're using EasySubli printable HTV, you'll also want to use the EasySubli mask. Forever Subli-Flex 202 comes on it's own mask, so there's no additional step there.

      You'll only need a vinyl cutter if you plan to use printable HTV like Siser EasySubli or Forever Subli-Flex 202. If that's the case, the Silhouette Cameo is a great cutter! You can view our collection of Cameo cutters here: heat.press/cameo

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jared here... I'm personally not a fan at all. It's expensive, the extra steps are a pain, and it's hard to get a consistent spray on each garment. Yeah, it's cool because you can use your sub printer w/cotton garments. But it's not a viable solution for me if I'm producing shirts for sale. I'd rather use EasySubli and save my time.

      The printable vinyl shown in this video (Siser EasySubli, link in description) is used with a sublimation printer, like the Sawgrass SG500/SG1000, and will work with both light and dark garments.
      We also carry heat transfer paper that will work with regular inkjet printers, which can be found here: heat.press/inkjetHTP
      There are several tutorials for heat transfer paper that can be found on this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLY9aNS49KtIzsUvtwil86vP9IrGJIDZCL.html

    Is it better to go with heat transfer paper if you’re just working with cotton shirts? Or is there a benefit to doing sublimation on printable htv for a cotton shirt?

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My personal preference is inkjet transfer paper for light cotton shirts, EasySubli printable HTV for dark shirts.
      I really like the way Neenah Jet Pro Soft Stretch (heat.press/JPSS) looks and feels on light garments. It holds up really well through repeated wash cycles as well. EasySubli HTV on dark garments is just a TINY bit thicker and heavier than opaque inkjet transfer paper, but it lasts a heck of a lot longer.

  • @waynecordingley4157

    Are you saying there is a heat transfer material that you can sublimate onto and then heat transfer to dark colour cotton t-shirts. I have a mimaki printer/cutter that I print onto a material and the heat transfer to the shirts. Which way is better. The printer cutter way is like a thin rubber laying on top of the shirt. Is the the same feel.

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The printable HTV for sublimation has a similar process to the print & cut HTV you're working with: you print directly onto the media, cut around your graphic, weed & mask the transfer, then heat press.
      However, you'd probably get better results with your setup. The sublimation materials are a little thicker and have more of a texture. Print & Cut HTV has been around much longer, so it's a more refined product.

    How the quality between using an ink jet printer vs sg500 with vinyl instead of sublimation because I’m doing cotton

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For dark garments, printable vinyl with sublimation will have more longevity, since vinyl holds up through wash cycles better than dark/opaque heat transfer paper.
      However with light heat transfer paper, the transfers wash and wear extremely well - some would argue better than sublimation printed vinyl. Light heat transfer paper, like Neenah Jet Pro Soft Stretch (heat.press/JPSS) wears especially soft over time.

      @@HeatPressNation So just trying to calculate cost; buying a large pack of Sublimation HTV, each paper going to cost $2.20, plus $0.65 for mask. Then assume a few cents on ink. So it comes out to about $3 per print...that's without any labor... Hmmm....
      Although, I guess we can charge more to customers for printing of full color images?

    sublimation paper is the best?

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Direct sublimation (using sublimation paper) will have the softest feel and most vibrant colors. As mentioned in this video, it does have its limitations. Our goal with this video was to highlight the differences, so our customers can make the best decision on which product to use for their specific projects.

      Also do you ship to Australia?

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can hardly feel any raised surface with HTV. What is more noticeable is the texture and weight of the vinyl on the garment. Siser EasyWeed is the most popular HTV we carry and has been tested to 30 to 40+ washes before cracking and showing signs of wear. I personally have t-shirts that have been washed well over 100 times and are still wearable. HTV is a very resilient material.
      Sorry to say, we don't ship to Australia ourselves. But there are other dealers of Siser products out there.

    What is the difference between sublimation vinyl and printable HTV (inkjet printer)?

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sublimation vinyl is thicker, since it's an actual HTV product. Though many people call inkjet heat transfer paper "printable vinyl", it's actually not vinyl. It's a thinner material. For light garments, it's a translucent film. For dark garments it's an opaque white vinyl-like material.
