Flown from BHX three times this year.
Chaos each occasion.
Arrived three hours early for the Amsterdam flight, hand luggage only. Made the gate with 20 minutes to go.
Shouty staff, no communication, security staff standing around chatting, repeatedly scanning bags but cannot explain why. New machines will not fix the problem.
We didn't have too bad an experience
‘Shall we do the building work in winter time when the airports quite?’ ‘Na let’s do it over the busiest time of the year for maximum disruption!’ It beggars belief sometimes!

I would understand the logic, but the works have been ongoing since at least August 23.
The works have been going on for ages
Well, I flew to Dubai for a layover there in December, and there were still security delays. But, the security works I believe have been in place ever since last year.
The work has been going on since last Summer. Why in Gods name they replaced a perfectly convenient escalator journey with the lifts is beyond me.
Totally agree with everything you’ve said. Airports expensive, stressful and just not a nice experience. Thanks Dave.

Always fly from BHX but recently arrived 4 hours early. Gate closed whilst waiting at security. Return flight was fast, although I got injured in the overcrowded lift as my bicycle wheel got trapped in the gap, costing me £150 damaged wheel as I fell over it. Has really put me off booking another flight. I wasn't the only one thinking this.

Flew out on the 7th May on 6:10 flight. Arrived at 4:00 having checked our luggage in the night before with Jet2. Went straight to security. Busy, but not as bad later in the day.

Interesting. On the website it says to leave everything in your luggage. Bullet points say.
Do not put your liquids, pastes and gels into plastic bags (please leave them loose in hand luggage).
Do not take them out of your hand luggage when you're in the security search area.
Leave all electricals in hand luggage during the security search.
When going through security please ensure all items are out of pockets including phones, keys, coins and tissues etc. Watches can be left on.

@@MrTravelONWorld Going to frankfurt from Birmingham in a few weeks, very early flight 05:55 so staying overnight in nearby hotel. Gonna aim to get to terminal about 3:00. Useful video for us, to know what we can expect.
I took the stairs which are located next to the jet2 checkin desks and there was no queues at all... It took me straight into the security hall where I only waited about 15 mins.

Its been reported in the media and on social media that they are re-doing parts of the airport.
Unfortunately, Birmingham airport does seem incapable of dealing with a large amount of people, probably the reason why the choice of flughts isnt great to many others.
Even Bristol airport offers more variety in flights.

I stayed at Hyde park lane before covid it was not too bad back then but it's been done up since then. Has a nice pool with kids pool we were self catering but from what I remember the food was not too bad. I'll be in lanzarote in 2 weeks

Newcastle was bad in January this year when they were updating the scanners … took 1.5 hrs to get through security 😢

Not seen bhx airport look like that in ages .. well my last hol was 2yrs ago ,flying on 6 june to fuertevenura, im absolutely worried ill miss the flight aa easyjet dont open bag drop till 2hrs before the flight at 2pm ..regardless i think ill get there 3hrs before just so as i can find my bearings ..😊thanks for the vlog and hope u enjoy dublin

36 mins to get through is really good, get an express ticket. DONT take liquids and you do not have to take your electricals out. Tell me an airport were you do not have to queue up. I thought the process at Security was great. Your advice will get people there far too early, your adding to the chaos! Its a bloody airport.

Been travelling for decades and the airport experience has not really improved over those years. OK, lick of paint here and there (normally massive disruption), new shops and a small improvement in facilities such as eateries but everywhere is expensive and the general atmosphere of airports is always a bit drab. Same in every country to be fair.

Good tip if you know what you want from duty free book it online you get a 10% discount then just pick up and pay
