Dude... Does anybody else listen to the episodes of this channel and several times find themselves with their jaw dropped and their hands on the top of their head b/c of the depth and the connections made??
I am 77 years old and have been studing the atonement for 50 + years. This is the single best video on LDS doctrine that I have seen. Well done and special thanks to Andrea, a very special daughter.
@schweizer1940 same! After I stopped searching through many heartbreaks, I finally said LORD I'm done. The next week, unknown to me, there was a man praying for a praying woman. That very week, I was presented to my husband. The day we met, we have never been apart since.
Something to add; short version. When groom proposed, he drank from cup of wine and presented to bride. IF she accepts, she drinks from same cup. If she rejects proposal she refuses to drink. Neither will drink wine until their wedding day. Also, Numbers 6 talks about Nazarite vow. One doesn't drink wine during vow. End vow with lamb sacrafice. Wedding symolizes relationship between Christ and Church. At last super, Christ when he offers the wine as part of sacrament, is playing part of groom and making marriage proposal. Apostles accepted marriage vow when they drank. Gives me new meaning when I take the sacrament. Each week we renew our marriage vow/covenant with Christ. After last super Christ vows not to taste of wine. This has 2 purposes. 1, He is invoking Nazarite Vow and will end it by offering himself as the lamb sacrifice. Second, he is playing out the role of the groom who vows not to drink until their wedding night. Know who else makes that vow? The bride (church). Name me one church outside of ours that as a covenant doesn't drink alcohol. We are playing out the role of the good Bride. Makes me look at WofW differently. That's the super condensed version.
Mind blown!! Amazing add to an amazing episode! Thank you for sharing. I have often pondered the Lords prophecy to us that he will drink wine with us when he comes again from DC 26 and imagine Adam-ondi-ahman as the beginning of the wedding feast. It’s going to be amazing!!😍
Me too! I have listened to this podcast multiple times, so far, with many more times to come. (And shared with my family and friends) I love what and how Andrea teaches! I am starting a deeper dive into your podcast with her & could listen to hours of her knowledge. Keep it up. This podcast is amazing! Andrea, Mike & Dave are definitely my top favorites.
Men are so equally important and gravely needed. They go to war not because they are indispensable but because God put a warrior in men to protect lands, truth, women, children and gospels. Life wouldn’t start without them nor be sustained.
On my 4th time but this time I'm taking notes. Usually I just listen while I work and end up rewinding over and over when I hear something that I need to listen to again. I've shared this with so many people and I plan to keep sharing it. Simply amazing! Well done!
they said they would share the outline and diagrams in the description. last night was my second night of typing up all the nuggets i could, including scripture references, symbolism, and historical customs. i just came to the video today to find the info in the description and there wasnt any.. just the link to their email list to be notified of when her book is out.
Incredible! I felt the spirit so strong as I listened to Andrea share her discoveries. Andrea is my cousin and I can say that she is as wonderful in everyday life as she seems through the screen. A true disciple of Christ and example to me 💕
I have watched this 3 xs now. Attended the Temple Tuesday and my mind was blown away. Thank you so much for hosting this sister. Can I get her contact please.
I'm listening again, and many years ago as a 25 yo convert, when I went to the temple for the first time, I had a deep impression that the Temple ordinances were very ancient That feeling has stayed with me..This religion isn't new!
There is no better channel for truth seekers than The Stick of Joseph. Thank you all for finding and living your calling. You’re helping the Lord change lives.
The Beloved Bridegroom, by Donna Neilsen, is a good LDS book from the 1990s describing Hebrew wedding customs and how they symbolize our relationship to Christ as the bridegroom.
There is a book from Lynda Cherry named “The redemption of the bride”- God’s re-editing love for his covenant people. It is so enlightening and related to the subject.
I just made another connection. When a person gets baptized, they are making a promise, but they have to "wait a year" before going to the temple to receive their endowment. Just like the bride has to wait a year while the groom "goes to prepare a place for her"?
In the Galilean wedding tradition, the husband could visit the bride but with an escort, usually the Father. Aka the First Vision, and would otherwise send messengers. The Father would also accept the House but when exactly the wedding takes place is still at the Father’s discretion. Kirtland the House was received, since then we had our winding up of assets and Oliver Granger was made a merchant in the Lord’s name and would redeem and honor Oliver’s sacrifice in his own due time, which seems to have been fulfilled at the purchase of the Kirtland Temple this year. D&C 117 for reference. Really good stuff
Thank you guys for introducing us to Andrea, and Andrea for your willingness to share the beautiful research you've done to connect many threads that the Spirit has been illuminating for me these past 6 years. I always put it to receiving my temple endowment on this day 8 years ago, the anniversary of my late daughter's first birthday. She lived for 5 1/2 days after her birth. The Spirit and I believe my daughter's spirit, led me to the temple. My husband is not a member of the church. I was waiting for him. When I entered the Holy Temple for the first time, I had a moment in the Bride's chambers as I looked at my reflection, where I felt an inner joy, that today I was marrying my Christ. I felt impressed to bear testimony to that sacred experience even though I had grown up in the church and never once heard anyone describe their temple experience that way. I remember wishing my husband was there so that we could be sealed together. I didn't know how to resolve the feeling that in his absence, Christ was taking care of me, as my Beloved Groom. And He has all these years been there for me. He was there in my darkest hour, mourning the impending death of my daughter. He anointed me with His peace in the dark night, and all I felt was warmth envelope me from the crown of head down to the tips of my toes as I knelt in prayer, weeping and pleading. I have been seeking for confirmation that my obsession with Judaism was not looking beyond the mark. I felt the richness of the Jewish tradition become the beat of my heart. I was starting to turn away from these spiritual experiences thinking I was looking into it too much, even though it's transformed the way I study my scriptures. Like you I'm a Mum. My family ask me how I have time to study scripture while tending my kids and home. The truth is, time stopped existing for me when my daughter passed away. But my crisis opened my eyes and heart to Christ, to Temples, to the Restoration and I began my quest to trace the Restoration back to it's ancient origins. I have been fascinated by everything I've been learning. But nothing has been more breath taking than having the Spirit write the Jewish traditions on my heart. I haven't been able to find anyone in my circle willing to go down this rabbit hole with me, so I felt like the odd kid on the block, even my husband thinks I want to be a Jew. He's not entirely wrong but he's not entirely right either! I want to worship God and prepare myself appropriately because I have a daughter in heaven waiting and hoping that I'll make the necessary preparations to see her again. I'm making my spiritual wedding preparations and the Jewish feasts help me feel closer to Christ. I want to return back to that ancient wisdom because it's calling me. It brought me such joy to study/learn these things. I don't want to feel jaded by it, sometimes I do because I have noone to share them with. I feel when our Auckland temple is dedicated I will find the solace I'm seeking. It's been 7 years since my last visit. I've been pining for the temple ever since. You've helped clear up what my monthly fasts were mourning for. I have felt to mourn on my fast Sundays. I know the disciples didn't fast because Christ was with them. So I figured they and we must fast because He's not here. When we see Him we will feast again. Your added context of the wedding motif has helped to bring further clarity to these things. I look at the changing seasons by the moon's and I understand why we're called a Gentile Church. Because we are not keeping God's appointed times and feasts. One day I believe we will. I feel it in me every time I look up at night and see the waning and waxing of the moon. My children and I have tried to observe them the last 6 years so that we could learn after the manner of the Jews. The Bridegroom is coming. The Sabbath is the Bride's day in Jewish custom isn't it? The women light the candles. Perhaps the "wise" women light the Sabbath candles/lamps? Thank you for fanning my inner flicker again. I love your faith! Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I didn't lose a child, but my daughter did and it was so traumatic, especially for her. Things that have brought solice, even in grief, are remembering all the blessings and miracles that happened, and continue to happen. Additionally it has been helpful to know that Joseph and Emma Smith lost babies, and some of the current Apostles lost some of their children too. It doesn't take away the pain, but sometimes it helps, knowing that there are people out there who understand the pain of losing a baby. ❤❤❤ I wish you peace and to be filled with love and gratitude, even as you mourn and remember your little one. God bless.
When I was asked to be the gospel doctrine teacher I was able to see how we must have the past (Old Testament and Ancient traditions,) the present (New Testament what Christ teaches) and the future (restoration of all things, Articles of Faith) viewed together to understand more of the plan of salvation. Like our lives the past, present and future are all vital for understanding
@rutht2023 We are all connected. I learned through my Hebrew tutor (who is Jewish) that blessings come through the mothers, since life comes through her. Grandparents are connected to the pain of losing a grandchild too. I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved grandchild, may his/her memory be a blessing. Thank you for your words of comfort and faith. I could not have anticipated how the loss of my daughter, z"l, would drive me to seek answers to so many questions. The more I search, the more I understand how expansive truth is. Everything in my faith walk is so much more now than it ever was. The world is alive with testimony that we have a Creator! And that we must worship Him and acknowledge His hand in all things. I never used to see it before. I always wondered how to have spiritual experiences growing up. Experiences like those I read in the Ensign or listened to in church or in General Conference. Now it's like I can't turn off the firehose. May our hearts be comforted as we prepare for the coming of our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ. Much love to you Ruth (I love your name) and your family.
Thank you for writing about your obsession with Judaism and how the feasts help you feel connected to Christ!! I feel the same way! And I also feel this strong connection and interest in Judaism customs, feasts, rituals, etc. The meaning and symbolism behind them are so rich! It is fascinating to me! Like another brother said here, we need the old, current and future revelation and scripture to understand the WHOLE plan of salvation. I would love, as a church, to become more educated on the Jewish feast days and their symbolism. So, you aren’t alone, I’m also very interested in Judaism and have studied different aspects of it but have continued to yearn for more!! 😅
They without us cannot be claimed/saved. We are linked to the Bridegroom. When He marries, He receives unto Himself ALL the bride’s family at that day!! 😅
Nice imagery! Today as I worked in the baptistry, a large family came in and did a bunch of family names. My heart was so full watching them. I loved how the brothers hugged after baptizing each other.
And the "dowry" or "money" (like the coins in the headdress) that the Lord gives us (the talents or pounds that we are told to use to "occupy till He comes") are people... God's wealth, what He has to give, is people, and they are the most valuable and of the most worth. So as we are waiting for the autumn season to come, and it's still summer, the Lord is begging us to reap and gather up salvation for ours and others' souls--sweep the house when we discover a coun is missing--and be ready to show Him what we did with and for people when He comes back.
Wow… I never comment on TH-cam videos but THIS moved me deeply. I’m absolutely mind blown by how Andrea and the two of you so beautifully explain the depth of all the wedding and bridegroom symbolism. Thank you so much for this episode. I’m definitely sharing this one.
So glad to hear that! Andrea is officially writing a book! Sign up here to get notified when it is available: lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/QGwZsO9/Andreawoodmansee
I had to stop the video for a while and ponder in amazement after she brought up the new church symbol! I already felt this was a sign of his coming but this just blew my mind about the ketubah! ❤
The signs and wonders are all around us. We need to prepare and be prepared. It’s amazing that we get to be His people at this time in the history of our the world.
As an artist, as soon as she mentioned the ketubah, I was completely enthralled. I went down a ketubah rabbit hole and then a Jerusalem windows rabbit hole (mostly full of Marc Chagall). Now my next painting will be pulling some of this imagery in.
Mind absolutely blown. Thank you all for the enlightenment. The world's so much brighter now, and the building of Zion makes so much more sense. Zion is the bridegroom's home...
Ether 13:3 And that it was the place of the New Jerusalem, which should come down out of heaven, and the holy sanctuary of the Lord. Christ has already built the holy sanctuary. It will come down from heaven.
All of the knowledge the first presidency wants you to know from the temple could be published in a book. But that’s not the point of the symbolism of the temple ceremonies. Seeking after the knowledge by being lead by the Spirit and you will find the understanding you need and want. When you go to the temple your heart and spirit change. Read the discourses of Hugh Nibley if you want a great resource.
@@Nolrandirbuilding off of your comment, I think this gospel is beautiful because it fits to anyone’s learning level. If what is already presented in temple prep, is enough for you great! You still understand keeping your covenants. But if you desire further knowledge and deeper understanding, there is deeper symbolism such as those explained in this video. And that is great as well. God doesn’t put this deep symbolism out there bc those who need and want it will find it. And I personally think it’s just so pure and beautiful (this video made me cry) that there is a level of reverence that needs to be kept around these things and sadly if it was in a temple prep class those who don’t respect it won’t keep that sacredness.
I think this is a great thought, but we have also been told "for those who have eyes to see". Line upon line. And, the temple is sacred, but like the scriptures having hidden treasures, so does the temple and we need to dig to find those treasures instead of handing out most of them.
You can tell what an experienced mother she is by the way she handles the hosts -- laughing at their dumb jokes and helping them along when they don't understand. LOVE her.
Proclamation on the Family!!! We are told our duties as husband and wife. I was listening to a channel where the person spoke about the Garden of Gethsemane. He brought up the image of Christ coming out of the Garden dressed in red from our sins and us coming out clean through Christ's Atonement. I so much love to spend time in the scriptures and seeing things with new eyes.
This was so great. Layering with Dave, Mike and the Ancient Tradition Podcast = 🤯. I have never been this excited to dive deep into the scriptures. My love for Jesus grows daily. It’s all here for eyes to see and ears to hear. ❤ Well done Brothers and Sister.
@@becourteous6414the first couple are on TH-cam with video. The rest are a podcast called ancient tradition. She drops two a month. So you might be caught up. I think it’s episode 49.
To your question at the 11 minute mark, “Why did Joseph not tell us about this?” Certainly that question has been asked many, many times about this and other subjects, and the conclusion that seems to be most common is that he didn’t know. Personally, I think there is so much more that he knew that was impossible to tell - his time was limited - and just as in Alma 8:1, there were “many things which cannot be written” - perhaps he was commanded not to tell, because the Lord instructed him to hold back, because the people were not ready for it, or perhaps it was given only to him and not to be shared, or possibly he was able to share some things with others with instructions that they were not to record it. That’s a lot of speculation, I know. But, I need only listen to Elder Hollands talk in the most recent General Conference where he spoke of his experience in the hospital and said, “I cannot speak fully of that experience here…”, to know that the Prophets and Apostles are often instructed to not tell all they know. Why? I don’t know. We must each ask the Lord. Similarly, my wife and I witnessed Elder David B Haight give a talk, “The Sacrament, and the Sacrifice,” October, 1989, where he spoke as an apparent intimate witness of the earthly life of Jesus Christ. In a personal encounter with him later, he told my wife, “I had to careful about what I said.” Finally, read and watch Elder Bruce R McConkie’s final testimony in April 1985, “The Purifying Power of Gethsemane”, especially in context with the wonderful content you have shared with us recently from David Butler, and others, and likely from this video - which I have yet to fully consume. In His infinite mercy, The Lord reveals truth “line upon line” as we are prepared to receive it, and not before. We must be careful not to place limits on the prophets of the past for what they did not say … and my wife just said, “…but as you read the words of the prophets present and past, listen, and the Spirit will whisper more truth between the words if you listen with a humble heart.” P.S. this is not an admonishment to anyone but me. As we are sitting here watching and listening to this wonderful video, I’m feeling this as a personal admonition from the Spirit, and sharing it back. Thank you for diligent work to share with us this information (wisdom?). Truly, we are edified!
The fast represented by the year the bridegroom went away until the marriage, is mirrored in the year you must wait between baptism and temple attendance.
Years ago, our Stake Pres had announced in every meeting for a month that everyone must be on time for Stk Conf. The High Counsel talked on spiritual preparation that month, and at 10am the doors to Stake Conference were locked. The whole of Stake Conference was on this parable, and one of the most spiritual I've attended. There were many who were so angry - family who had saved "their row" and the family members who were locked out. It was a very literal observation lesson, and painful for many, as I expect it will be for many, when that day comes.
In a way, good lesson. But I know from experience and living on a farm that you can wake up to all the chickens out, have to spend hours catching them all and put them back, and then we are late to church, just with one thing unexpected. What happens when several things pop up? It is hard to be prepared for everything that could happen unexpectedly. I am not saying don't try to be on time. But I am not going to leave for several hours with animals out and come home to multiple deaths because predators got to them before we could. I don't like that type of rigidity. I would rather get there late and get some spiritual uplifting as opposed to nothing. We also have lots of construction. I live waaayy out and on the way to work, I run into at least 5 construction zones. Even when I try to leave an extra 15-20 min it still isn't enough sometimes. That is probably one stake conference that I wouldn't even try to come. Why de-motivate people like that? Because that is exactly what it would do to me.
@@vickywesterfield288 I think there’s always room for the situations you share, but I think we also need to remember Elder Holland (in April 2019) teaching, “if the ox is in the mire every Sunday, we strongly recommend you sell the ox or fill the mire.
She learned all this from reading several books. I'd love to have the summary of all she learned from her research --what she's presented-- into a book. That would be awesome! I've enjoyed every bit that she has shared.
We need part 2 please! Sent this to several friends. Tying these scriptures together was amazing. Thanking each of you for the years of hard work it takes to make information like this available.
Same... yeah, I actually thought most of us thought this way...guess not??? What's the word or phrase used to describe the ancient religion and then all others trickling down from it...anyone??
@@cindlou7335 prisca theologia (ancient theology) basically the idea that all religions are degenerate forms of the true faith given to man by God at the beginning. This is actually a central part of Islam as well as Mormonism, and while not exactly central to modern mainstream Christianity, it is there when you dig down. I would expect that a similar belief is there in Judaism but then again the old testament is heavily focused around the law of Moses which is basically like "true theology 101" so I wouldn't be shocked if Judaism doesn't spend much time thinking about where other religions come from.
YES!, im so glad you're listening to "The Ancient Tradition" I can not believe that it's a coincidence that at the same time I'm reading, "In the language of Adam" I am also learning some of the same principles from "Jack Logans" podcast. This to me is evidence of another way the Lord is hastening His work. I can't help but shout! "The Lord is extending the Saints’ understanding"
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been praying for a greater understanding of the temple and the purpose of the symbols, etc. you have truly opened my eyes!
I attended a wedding/sealing of a friend. The grooms mother was less active as were many other family members. My return missionary son was prompted to remain outside and stay with the grooms brother. It was such a testimony to me that while they may not understand the significance of personal worthiness to enter the temple, God knew they needed to be loved & taught.
Amazing! So glad I saw this when it first popped up! Thought I’d share a few additional thoughts that tie into this. 1) my dad was a temple sealer, and I had the opportunity to go with my wife and him to the temple and do some sealings about a half year before he passed away. He pointed out to me how the word “cleave” has dual meaning. To separate, and to bind. Man shall leave his parents and cleave unto his wife, and they shall become one flesh. But also, a butcher’s knife, an axe, what have you, is used cleave an animal apart. Now consider where you would cleave a sacrifice, and then consider what is in the temple in the middle of the sealing rooms, and how that is used for both versions of the word “cleave”. He also pointed out several differences in wording during the covenant for the bridegroom vs the bride, pay attention next time you do sealings 🙂 2) they shall become one flesh. I never considered how this phrase could be applied to us and Christ. We are to become one with him, even as a bridegroom and a bride become one flesh. In terms of the consummation of marriage, we’re talking about a sacred act that brings life, bears fruit, etc. this makes the allegory of the olive trees and the Lord of the vineyard’s statement (paraphrasing) “what good is this tree if it brings forth no fruit” even richer in meaning. IOW - what good is your bond to me, if it doesn’t bring forth your eternal life, to live with me, and be in my presence forever? The purpose of our relationship and covenants with Christ (his work and his glory) is to bring to pass the immortality and Eternal life of man-to bear fruit, or to give life to his covenant people, to take away their reproach. Love this symbolism! There is so much I feel like I’ve been learning lately that I never understood in the last 30+ years! Thanks for bringing on people who have learned and studied these things, so we can all learn with you! 🙂
That's reason why when aman and woman get married they create or make abody for the child out of the image of the father and become one flesh that's why every one has genealogy of their family and have the same DNA transmitted in us.thats why we are called father and mother because the body of the child belong to us.and the spirit belong to heaven father and mother because our spirit was created after their own spirit and likeness.thank you for the episode.
Woah!!! Thank you so much for this!! We have been doing sealings quite often lately, and have noticed many things you mentioned. The other things I need to print out and put in my family history stuff. Then I can read it again and again.
A couple months ago I was praying asking for help with researching the scriptures instead of just reading. I started reading and I was inspired to go down this rabbit hole of this topic. I’ve never been inspired like that before I terms of feasting on the scriptures. Yes, this is a very important topic.
I love how she explains this! It was realization of this that motivated me to start sharing and do a channel. I can tell I only scratched the surface, thanks for sharing!
Please write the book Andrea! My heart was on fire listening through this episode and I just feel such a profound love for my Savior. Also, I am in full agreement, “make weddings ancient again.” And is there a kind Jew willing to befriend me? I want to know more about the wedding rituals 🤍
I listened to this yesterday and just got home from the temple today. I couldn't wait to listen to this again. I need to listen to this every time I go!
Thank you Andrea! I love that you are not a scholar but a true seeker. I have studied the feasts and festivals and wonder why we don’t emphasize and do them. They all point to Christ. Thanks for all the hard work. This was an excellent show and am listening to it again and would really love to hear more!!
Andrea, I had a conversation about marriage with your Mama here in Uganda, Africa.and she shared this link of your show.what is being revealed is ablessing to me. Thank you for joining information to open the eyes of the world.
Another awesome podcast, thanks guys. Andrea offers some great insights. My wife and I met in the Swiss Temple and had a powerful experience in the sealing room. Four months later we were sealed. We are now both Termple workers once. week in the Preston, England Temple.
I love hearing that couples meet in the temple. There couldn’t be a better place to meet your eternal companion. I’ve heard this a few times in my life. I met my wife at the mall.
This is the best thing I've heard in a long time. I was humbled, my eyes were opened (and filled with tears) and my testimony was strengthened. Thank you, Andrea
My mother was a practicing Medical Doctor in Brazil before she immigrated to the US and married my dad. She was getting ready to transfer her credentials over and become a doctor here, and my father's and mother's families were so excited. But, after going through a temple session together, my mother and father independently realized that my mother should give up on being a doctor and focus on motherhood. My parents followed that prompting, and today, I can say that I am so grateful to have been raised by my mother. One of my friends' mother told me that my mom would never be able to feel accomplished in her life because she "gave up on her career." I told my mom this, and she got so offended because to her, being a wife and motherhood were always her priorities. President Nelson said it best. "Through the years, whenever I have been asked why I chose to become a medical doctor, my answer has always been the same: 'Because I could not choose to be a mother.'"
Yes.😊 I think there are many. For me, it started with my diligently studying Isaiah. It's exciting! God wants all of His children to know Him & how He deals with, & has dealt with His children from the beginning. I'm so thankful!
Isn't it refreshing? I had a friend and we used to study all the time together. We were sharing our finds with a mutual friend when he said " You guys study way to much"..
Agreed!!!! No one wants to study the gospel much less discuss it. I don't understand when this became taboo. I love studying the gospel and yet I have soo soo much to learn.
I’ll date myself here and say that this episode is the church version of the 7th Harry Potter book. All of the sudden you see the bread crumbs sprinkled throughout each book, very purposefully and intentionally, as they suddenly come together as the feast that it really is. Now, pieces of the story, from beginning to the end, jump out; they seem like something small at first, but turn into plot twist. There’s so many ohhhhhh! And ahhhh! Moments. And most of all, an understanding of how intentional and purposeful God planned his manuscript. From beginning to end. It just took us a while to see the plot unfold.
Mind blown! Mic drop. Thank you Andrea for the 20 years you’ve put into gathering this information, and thank you for the gift of sharing it with us. Thank you Hayden and Jackson for publishing this video. ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! Trying to catch my breath... Wow! Wait... just WOW! Amazing stuff! I knew a little tiny bit about the Hebrew wedding stuff but my mind has been completely blown! Excellent work, Andrea! Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! Please keep us posted on when your book hits the market...I surely want one!
You guys put out these videos that have SO much in them. I feel like I need a written summary of each one so that I can remember what was there and what to even ponder and study again! Love your content you guys!
Today has been a treasure trove! Between you and Ward Radio on this day, my mind is blown! I can't believe how much I've learned! And put me on the waiting list for the book!
Also, when Mary anointed Jesus he said her service will be remembered in His church forever. Initiatory blessing in the temple is a reminder of this action by women. A very sacred teaching to me when I was a temple worker.
I love how when we know what the saving ordinances are, we can then see them happening in Jesus' own life--He didn't leave out any of the saving ordinances for Himself either, or anything.
Faith explosion!!! So much more, so many more connections in all the scriptures. I loved it. And now I must read some scriptures and watch this one again.
This is an absolute TREASURE! I feel like the mysteries of the kingdom are being revealed to us. I would love to be dear friends with Andrea. What a beautiful soul she is. I am so inspired by her and appreciate her clear sharing. I want to be her! I also appreciate her sharing how her faith trial led to this discovery. Way to persistently seek truth. This all resonates so much- on every level. I stoped the video throughout and took 14 pages of notes!😆 The ancient wedding ritual also rings so true from my other studies as well. In the book about 3 generations of Chinese women “Wild Swans” the ancient grandmothers wedding ritual was just like the ancient Hebrew one described by Andrea with a processional by the bridegroom to come and get the bride and lift her up in a sedan to carry her back to the feast/ceremony. Even in the book “These Happy Golden Years” there is a beautiful description of Almanzo Wilder preparing a home for Laura Ingles for many months while she prepares the bed clothes and linens to adorn her new home for her love before he comes to get her for the wedding. These wedding traditions are everywhere. And then- the first miracle that Jesus performed- very deliberately by the wisdom of his Mother and when he first revealed his power- was at a wedding feast- where the best wine came at the end- symbolic of his greatest miracles to come at the end and blow our minds. I love our precious faithful bridegroom so much! Someone above said it best- the universe’s most eloquent poet. Please have Andrea back to expound more about the wisdom goddess and the beautiful symbols there. Thank you for all you are doing.
WOW !!!! This is soooooo sacred and spiritual. I feel like I was in the Temple receiving instruction about the deeper layers of how Christ should be my focus, because the things that I should be doing, would in fact bind myself to Him. It's about preparing to be ready as in Father Alma, "for this life is a time to prepare to meet God" which is about "being loyal" to Christ our symbolic Bridegroom before He returns, at a time, that I know not. I'm going to need to watch this at least 3 times or more to pick up the Gold nuggets herein. God bless this good Sister and this Channel for inviting this Sister to enlighten our minds with much deeper understanding. This has really given me things to value more, and things to set aside as "distractions" for the greater good of being loyal to my Master, by doing a better job than I'm currently doing. Na te Atua kaha rawa i whakamoemiti ki a koutou e ngaa anahera o Tane nui a rangi. ❤

I feel like she has totally opened the scriptures to us.. And I was very aware of the Hebrew bridal imagery and its association with the work of the Lord in our behalf.. studied it for years.. but she has taken this to a whole new level.. Excellent presentation.
Why don't they teach things like that in temple preparation classes? It would help so much! I have been a member of the church for almost 26 years and am realizing that I pretty much don't know anything and there are still a lot to learn... But it is a good thing, live and learn every day! I hope I have enough tike on earth to figure things out ❤ Thank you for a special guest ❤🙏 Thank you
I was listening to this while fasting for a temple trip tomorrow and it was such an incredible primer. I am excited to think on this more and study some of the things mentioned. I am looking forward to the book.
This was absolutely fabulous! I too love ancient symbolism and wish Andrea and I were neighbors or something and could go on walks and talk about this stuff! The parable of the prodigal son has wedding symbolism too. The father clothes his son with a robe, gives him a ring, throws a party. It’s symbolic of a covenant relationship involving grace, mercy, forgiveness, protection, loyalty, and submission, all parts of The Atonement. Just signed up to be notified of your book release!
This has been such a feast of love and light! Thank you so much! I will be rewatching and studying this in depth but the first time was delicious to my spirit💖✨
Gentlemen, just a thought (given with greatest respect for you and for what you are providing for all of us): Out of consideration for the guest and for your audience, would you consider limiting your "aside comments" so your guest has time to get through his/her material? While you are loved, your audience shows up to learn from your guests and wants to hear all they have to offer. Your personalities are charming, your spirits are bright and inviting, and you're blessing our lives with this resource, but I NEED to hear what your guests have to share. Thank you for all you are and all you're doing for us!
I realized that the reason why all the temple symbolism needs to be maintained as hebrew-centric, with us having a hard time understanding the symbolism, is because the covenants were made with the house of Israel originally and that we are only adopted into it. It's like the equivalent of moving into Japan and learning the customs. It would be inappropriate to force the people to adapt to our preferences.
Most people in the world these days are literal descendants of Jacob, since God has scattered Israel all over the world for so long. Your patriarchal blessing tells you your tribe, and you might be told that you have been adopted into Israel, but most people are actually already born into Israel. (Meaning, you--generic "you"--likely are a natural-born Israelite too.) And yes, we do just need to learn to understand the richness of everything that's our birthright.
What a wonderful lesson. So much to learn. When I heard about the feast of trumpets and the Angel Moroni, it brought me to tears to think that the Lord has sent his warning to us. Thanks. I would love to hear more and actually found another link where she did an interview.
I’m have gone through this video five or six times in the last few weeks and I could and probably will that many times more. And then periodically again and again. Please have Andrea back for more. She, Dave and Mike are all blowing my scripture mind wide open. I love this. You guys have really really blessed lives with this channel. Long live the Paul brothers 😃😎🙏❤️
I missed the introduction at first and when i was listening to andrea I assumed she had her own podcast. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable but she spoke so naturally in this video. Like she had done it countless times. I was disappointed to find out she doesn't have a podcast!! There were so many hints of facts from her that I wanted further explanation! I could listen to her for hours. I'm excited to read her book but I hope she will do more interviews too. Or start her own, hint hint :)
I wasn't sure what to expect but I appreciate the respect and responses from these Gentlemen on this channel and for the knowledge I'm gaining from this interview. 😊♥️ Also, I love how clear and connected each piece of History and Spiritual Symbolism has to one another. Learning more about how much Women were actually respected in ancient society and the quality of relationship we can have with God and with each other is beautiful. I hope like these ancient Brides, I can live up to my own responsibilities, while remembering my Worth as a Daughter of God and Daughter/ Equal Partner in Temple Covenants. Thank you for sharing this message and helping us understand how we can be better prepared to meet our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ. ♥️💒🕊️🙏
the metaphor of the Church as a Bride and the tradition of the Hebrew marriage ceremony and Jesus Christ, a Jew, The Messiah, The Bride Groom and His use of parables, the phrase "hidden in plain sight" comes to mind. This teaching is weaved through the Gospel in all the scriptures... listened to this again with my bride: she was as amazed as I was. I realized while observing her watch this presentation that I realized how my sacred covenant as a husband means more than I thought. Thank you.
As a convert I had to wait one year from my baptism to receive my endowments. I love the parallel she drew about how the time between betrothal and marriage is one year.
Wow I have heard bits and pieces of this and have seen in the scriptures bits and pieces , but to have it laid out in such a beautiful and thoughtful manner Wow! Thank you Sister and SOJ Brothers , this is so inspiring, amazing and spiritual. Thank you ❤
I loved this so so much. Truly we need to understand the Jewish history and traditions to understand the meaning in our scriptures. Thank you for sharing Andrea!
Again and again, when you know the context, God is literally telling us the time is now. I actually went out and bought lanterns and actual oil, just in case, but the oil of knowledge you are giving us is so sweet. Andrea thank you for sharing your studies and revelations with us.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I have always puzzled over the imagery and symbolism of the bridegroom and marriage and how it somehow symbolizes Christ, but I never really comprehended it and all the connections throughout the scriptures until now. I need to listen to this several times with my scriptures in front of me. If Andrea has not written a book about this, she really should.
Can she please be a seminary teacher?? I’ve learned so much from this. She would be stellar teaching the youth, I wish I understood the Old Testament like she does when I was studying it in high school seminary.
I love the quotes of the Book of Mormon "the learned that think they are wise and harken not unto the voice of the Spirit". In essence, it requires not just learning but holding fast to the Spirit to truly have wisdom this becoming one. I love watching old couples that can do things and know what their next moves are just by a look so they act as one.
Thanks for talking about the fast in this vid. I’d never thought about it that way. Never heard of a Jerusalem window either. The restoration is fascinating. Trying to get us (the church) up to speed must be a ton of work.
No wonder Joseph Smith said trying to get anything into the heads of the Saints was like trying to chop wood with pumpkin for a hammer and cornbread for a wedge 😄 He said if he told everything he wanted to, the Saints would kill him, not just the apostates at the time.
This was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! Thank you Andrea for all of your dedication and research into this topic, it really brought the scriptures alive for me and made me want to draw even closer to the Lord.

this lesson is particularly amazing.
I am 77 years old and have been studing the atonement for 50 + years. This is the single best video on LDS doctrine that I have seen. Well done and special thanks to Andrea, a very special daughter.
ABSOLUTELY!!! JUST BEAUTIFUL
I know that my wife was chosen for me by Father! I have a theory why, but I know this by revelation before and after my marriage, sixty years ago!
Don't forget Jesus Christ is the great Jehovah of the old testament, author of our religion!
How do we get the long version. Any references that you can point me to?
Mind blown!! Amazing add to an amazing episode! Thank you for sharing. I have often pondered the Lords prophecy to us that he will drink wine with us when he comes again from DC 26 and imagine Adam-ondi-ahman as the beginning of the wedding feast. It’s going to be amazing!!😍
This is SOOO FREAKING COOL !!!

I'm listening again, and many years ago as a 25 yo convert, when I went to the temple for the first time, I had a deep impression that the Temple ordinances were very ancient That feeling has stayed with me..This religion isn't new!
I had the same feeling!
Read Dave Butler's book In the Language of Adam. The Book of Mormon is ancient, but the doctrine and the covenants it contains are *much* older.

The Beloved Bridegroom, by Donna Neilsen, is a good LDS book from the 1990s describing Hebrew wedding customs and how they symbolize our relationship to Christ as the bridegroom.
Really enjoyed her book!!
It’s a wonderful book
There is a book from Lynda Cherry named “The redemption of the bride”- God’s re-editing love for his covenant people. It is so enlightening and related to the subject.
Love Donna's book!
Donna ‘s book in so profound!
I just made another connection. When a person gets baptized, they are making a promise, but they have to "wait a year" before going to the temple to receive their endowment. Just like the bride has to wait a year while the groom "goes to prepare a place for her"?
More please!! I would love 10 more videos wirh Andrea at least. But definitely one that talks about wisdom. Such a great video!

Yes!! Please!!🎉🎉
Your comment intrigues me, but I guess I will have to look up Oliver Granger to understand it.

Wow!! 🌟

So us doing our family history and ordinances for our dead is like us sewing the cloth that will be tied around the hands at the wedding ceremony!
Beautiful!

All of this should be in a Temple Preparation book.
I haven’t taken a temple prep course for a long time. Maybe I should read through it again.
Right?? I’m a new member and just took a temple prep class. This was way more informative!

To your question at the 11 minute mark, “Why did Joseph not tell us about this?”
Certainly that question has been asked many, many times about this and other subjects, and the conclusion that seems to be most common is that he didn’t know.
In a personal encounter with him later, he told my wife, “I had to careful about what I said.”
Finally, read and watch Elder Bruce R McConkie’s final testimony in April 1985, “The Purifying Power of Gethsemane”, especially in context with the wonderful content you have shared with us recently from David Butler, and others, and likely from this video - which I have yet to fully consume.
In His infinite mercy, The Lord reveals truth “line upon line” as we are prepared to receive it, and not before. We must be careful not to place limits on the prophets of the past for what they did not say … and my wife just said, “…but as you read the words of the prophets present and past, listen, and the Spirit will whisper more truth between the words if you listen with a humble heart.”
P.S. this is not an admonishment to anyone but me.
Is that still a requirement? I thought that was advanced.. it is for the deceased.

💯 way to go Stake President! 😮 That's awesome 👍
WTH? Bold move.
@@vickywesterfield288I think they were making a point related to the parable of the 10 virgins, and the bridegroom came, and the door was locked.
@@vickywesterfield288 I think there’s always room for the situations you share, but I think we also need to remember Elder Holland (in April 2019) teaching, “if the ox is in the mire every Sunday, we strongly recommend you sell the ox or fill the mire.

I've been thinking this for years, our church is a restoration of the ancient church. Meaning what Adam believed and taught. It's beautiful.
Wait, do most members not realize this?
Wait till you realize that this has actually been lost and restored multiple times in history.
Same... yeah, I actually thought most of us thought this way...guess not???
@@isaac_steinberg thank you
YES!, im so glad you're listening to "The Ancient Tradition" I can not believe that it's a coincidence that at the same time I'm reading, "In the language of Adam" I am also learning some of the same principles from "Jack Logans" podcast.
This to me is evidence of another way the Lord is hastening His work. I can't help but shout! "The Lord is extending the Saints’ understanding"

Hug your son for me :) Thank you for sharing!
He also pointed out several differences in wording during the covenant for the bridegroom vs the bride, pay attention next time you do sealings 🙂
2) they shall become one flesh.
Amazing comment seriously! I learned a few things from it.

Learning after the manner of the Jews expands our understanding and knowledge of the gospel. Nephi was right.

Her beginning with her faith crisis that led to her amazing scripture search is mind blowing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Andrea!

This all resonates so much- on every level. I stoped the video throughout and took 14 pages of notes!😆
The ancient wedding ritual also rings so true from my other studies as well.

(Meaning, you--generic "you"--likely are a natural-born Israelite too.)
And yes, we do just need to learn to understand the richness of everything that's our birthright.
What a wonderful lesson. So much to learn. When I heard about the feast of trumpets and the Angel Moroni, it brought me to tears to think that the Lord has sent his warning to us. Thanks. I would love to hear more and actually found another link where she did an interview.
