    As many PW’s there are out there, and with so many wanting to do the same mods you’re doing, I can’t figure out why you don’t have more views. Your instructionals are brilliant and my first reference when working on my truck. Used many times over so far. Keep up the great work, it’s truly appreciated.

    Those ‘’snow plow brackets’’ that you are referring too are actually called compatibility brackets and are to prevent the truck from going up and over other vehicles in an accident. Have nothing to do with mounting a snow plow. A lot of guys that off road there power wagons seem to have them fall off lol. Good job on the install vid I have a 21 75th anniversary wagon and am slowly doing a build on it to make it a hard core hunting truck. Good luck on the channel new subscriber

    The Power Wagon is an exceptionally fun car. The carrying capacity leaves much to be desired. But damn it, it's an endangered species - frame, axles, front and rear lockout. Huge motor without trumpets and superchargers! Very cool stuff! I live in the European part of the country, there is a forest steppe, off-road here is a sour mud. That is why PW seems to be the most interesting of all - forced blocking of both bridges! I will be following your experiments! Google translate.

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And I *will* be experimenting! I believe this is the final year with the front locking differential. A dying breed indeed. Which country do you live in?

      @@goofingoffroad I'm afraid it's the last one too! I really want this truck! But they are brought to us only in the maximum configuration, plus logistics and taxes - it comes out to about 130-135 thousand dollars. For this money we can build a good little house. We are also currently engaged in the construction and improvement of the house. So I won't be able to buy it for another couple of years. And I dream of buying this miracle, installing a suspension kit from Carli. But leave the sway bar. And get high on the weekends. By the way, I saw on the RAM of older generations the installation of hubs on the front wheels, to unload the front wheels from parasitic rotation in 2WD mode. But I didn’t find such videos for this generation. I wonder how it affects on MPG. Important for long trips in expedition mode. Percentage of 70% -80% can still be passed only on the rear wheel drive, and it is not rational to load a lot of fuel with you! Didn't you plan on doing this? Sorry for bad speekig with Goolgle....

      I have not considered switching out the front hubs at this point as they are brand new. Perhaps, when I wear them out I'll take a look at this as an option, so thank you for suggesting it.
      I can't imagine what it's like to have to import a truck like this and then have to pay so much for it! I hope that you can achieve that dream, and good luck with your house upgrades - I know how frustrating and disruptive those can be!

    Are the brackets that you installed, what they call the "Compatability Brackets" on their website? They say it's required for 3500s and it adds $96 to the total price.

  • @Docwagon1776
    @Docwagon1776 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They market it as a skid plate while simultaneously describing it as not a skid plate in the description: "Please note that these guards are not a skid plate that can bear the full weight of the vehicle since they mount off the factory front bumper" Not really needed for gas trucks, no intercooler to worry about so what is it actually protecting? Aesthetics wise, dealer's choice. Protection wise, I just went with a front diff guard and White Knuckle sliders. If you do the sliders, a good install video for those would likely help a lot of people. Passenger side is pretty easy, not much in the way. Driver's side is more of a PITA. Fuel lines, gas tank, gas tank skid, a nice fat wiring harness on the top of the frame, so much more stuff in the way to work around.

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's sure not going to take a boulder at 20mph, but it'll keep the brush out of the way, and I think it looks great! Those white knuckle sliders sound like a PITA - I'll keep that in mind :)

      On the Power Wagon, it protects the Warn Winch. Without it, it's just exposed for the taking.

      @@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI I guess it's an extra step to unbolt before unbolting the winch, or taking a cut off tool to it. I'm still waiting for Dethloff to release their actual skid plate, but who knows if he ever will or not.

    Even with a breaker bar I was unable to loosen the bolts on the snowplow mount. It kind of a ridiculous install process if it requires loosening something the manufacturer never intended to be loosened. They should sell different length brackets depending on your snowplow mount placement.

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm surpridsed it was that hard to break loose. I used a 3ft breaker bar - maybe that will do the trick?

    Those are not snowplow brackets lol.. those are called “comparability brackets” they are so if you smash into a car the car doesn’t go all the way under your truck and you kill everyone in the car. They act as teeth that gaha grown and stop the car from doing that. If you don’t have this skidplate thing, you can take the brackets off.
