Hi-Lift Jack Bracket Install on 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss
When you’re driving your ZR2 off road or on an overland trip then you or someone you’re with might get stuck, or high-centered. You may need to use the Hi-Lift as a come-along, or to jack up a trailer tongue. The Hi-lift jack has lots of uses on the trail, and it’s better to have one and not need it, than it is to need it and not have it. In this video I’m going to show you how I mounted the hi-lift jack in the bed of my Chevy Colorado ZR2.
The home-made bed divider is a pressure treated 2”x10” cut to 58 3/4” long with a 1” 45 degree cut on the bottom corners.

How To Repair the Trailer Jack on a Mammoth Overland Trailer

They act as teeth that gaha grown and stop the car from doing that. If you don’t have this skidplate thing, you can take the brackets off.

    Was the ARB manifold not necessary for this install? I didn’t think it was needed just for airing up and down tires but when I was about to order the parts for my Power Wagon the ARB site says the manifold is needed.

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The manifold will act as a buffer between the compressor and whatever you are airing up. It's perfect for things like air lockers, becuase it stores the pressurized air for the locker in the manifold, which means the compressor doesn't have to cycle each time you use the air locker. The manifold also gives you a couple of air fittings to run air lines from. However, it is definitely not a requirement to run the compressor. If you watch the video on the CKMTA12 page on ARB you can see them using it without a manifold or air tank. I've been using these compressors without a manifold to air up tires for years with no issues, but I do have a manifold installed on the OBA system on my jeep to pressurize the lockers. Hope that helps. Good luck with the installation!

    • @goofingoffroad

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-cs5hd2vf6x Andrew - I'm really curious to understand your position here. How does the power consumption come into consideration when you are airing up your tires? Unless you have a pass-trough valve in your hubs like the Mercedes G-Wagon 4x4 then it is highly unlikely that you would be airing up your tires while driving. And even if you were, you'd still be running the engine at that time. All compressors have quite a high amperage draw, so it's always advisable to be running your engine while using the compressor for an extended period of time so as not to put too much draw on your battery. According to the ARB website the CKMTA12 draws 68 amps at 12v, or 816 watts of power According to the EZ-Flate website the MOAB draws 90 amps at 12v, or 1080 watts of power. This means that the ARB uses about 28% less power than the EZ Flate. However, maybe I'm missing something? So, for the sake of myself and the other people here, can you please explain what you mean by "uses half the power" and why this would be important to a person who is airing up their tires while stationary and with their engine running?

    Glad I didn't waste the entire 4+ minutes watching this biased unrealistic comparison, 2 completely different trucks. Never tried to or mentioned using the disconnecting sway bar. Also could see that the Raptor tires were aired down. was that also done with the Power Wagon, or was the stock tire pressure maintained, which at 60/65psi is gonna make any ride more stiff in any condition.

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment! To answer your questions - if you *had* watched the whole video you would have seen that even with the sway bar disconnected on the PW, the Raptor had better travel. On the washboard road both trucks were driving at stock pressure. That was the whole point of the test. Are everyday drivers going to air down every time they drive a dirt road? Probably not - so thepont was to see how they were driving straight off the pavement.

    I think I may have missed something. If the recommended tire pressure was supposed to be 45 PSI front and 40 PSI rear, why did you set it to 35 PSI? I'm going to have to do this to my truck as well. Since I leveled and put 37s on my truck, the tire pressure light has been on and the speedometer is slightly off. Thanks in advance.

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When the tires are cold, or if you're traveling to a different altitude, your tire pressures may drop below 40psi. I set the pressure for the TPMS alert to 35psi to allow for a small margin of lower pressure before the alert goes off, so that it's not bothering me all the time. you could always set it to 40psi and see how you get on with it, and lower it if you don't like the way the TPMS system behaves.

    Rediculous comparison, 1/2 ton vs. a 3/4 ton truck is not apples to apples. That Raptor won’t handle load or tow as much as that Power Wagon. This vedeo is lacking in relevance.

      Thanks for sharing your opinion. There's a reason I sold the Raptor and bought the PW and it looks like you're catching on!

      www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_MTWM10215C - Seems like a bargain. It doesn't have the pressure regulator built in, but otherwise it seems like a good choice.

      The EZ Flate draws 90 amps and has a dedicated, fused power cord. In the bag, with the single hose, it's 14" x9" 9". The hose bag is 14" x14" x3"

    Pretty slick setup. Do you have to pull the switch pro off when you change the battery?

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, It's really easy to remove - just unclip the plug, remove the positive and negative lead and then take the metal strut off. You have to remove the metal strut to get the battery out anyway, so it's not much more work.

    having a power wagon on 40s that run at 65 psi each i went with the ARB twin 2.5 years ago, i use it on mine then help others finish their tires, i use it for my air jack among many other things and have never had an issue so I am happy BUT if there was a less expensive option that had that reliability i am all game. ty for the video Sir!

      @@joeparga1070 the tires are warrantied but they have to be used at the recommended pressure, I had done the chalk test last set and the tire company bitched so with the new ones I’ve followed their rules and they have already replaced 3 tires for free 😂, I will run near 20-26 in the snow and stuff but on road they stay at the recommended 65 for their load rating

      Yep - those ARB compressors are work horses. I love mine! 65psi seems high to me too - your truck must ride like a rock. What brand tires are they?

    I'd like to see your comparison to the Milwaukee M18 FUEL Tire Inflator and the M18 FUEL Air Compressor. According to the literature, the tire inflator can fill up a 33" tire in less than a minute.
