this has been one of my favorite commander clashes in a while. I love stipulations that make players reach for strange cards, and I love when those cards interact in weird and interesting ways that I haven't seen before. That is the very essence of commander.
Despite the length and misplays that was one of the greatest, and most fitting, endings I remember seeing. Jank combo and MODO crash is peak commander clash.
This stupidly long and grindy game was a thousand percent worth it for that finale alone. Well done Seth, well done Rath. Spice8Rack was a fun guest, too! Excellent.
Did you know Tomer could have played Blood Artist after the Emrakul, then there are two blood artists and he can make a bunch of enchantment clerics that turn into 0/0s and die. He could make 5 for 10 blood artists triggers, which isn't too bad, as long as spice works with him.
No Seth is the person known for drawing cards, Tomer only dreams of achieving Seth's devotion to card draw. Seth has lost more games to himself trying to draw cards than anything else. If devotion to card draw was a mechanic Seth would have every god devoted at all times. He has actually killed himself to the card greed before just to draw another card.
Richard says "look how many cards Tomer is drawing, you have to get rid of him, Seth" (Tomer wasn't even drawing a single card, he was looting. At the same time, Richard had ramp, draw, and indestructible god, card selection and wrath's insurance (Archon)... Seth destroys Tomer's field. Next turn, Richard still has the same things above mentioned... Tomer destroys Seth's field. The guest has Ashiok to return Starfield to richard's hand, he plus for a token that can't even block Richard's flyers. The game wasn't so long because of intrincated or convolued interesting game play, in my opinion.
@@ODIRGO most of what you said is correct, but he was looting and using the discard to play out madness cards, which is card advantage. So basically no different from card draw.
They might play it up for the camera, but Seth and Tomer come across as just being flat out bad at Commander. And honestly their card assessment during set reviews for Commander often reinforce that.
@@aidennoir597 Well Seth is an actively "bad" Commander player, he has talked about it before. He doesn't look to win in commander games he looks to have fun durdling around drawing cards and doing his decks "thing" what ever that maybe. I mean he even hinted at it here where he said if we didn't have hand cams I would have just taken the damage and died instead of casting constant mist. Seth's goal isn't to win it's to draw cards and play a fun game with friends, he doesn't view commander competitively like Tomer does. Tomer on the other hand does play to win, he builds his decks to actively try and win while conforming to usually some weird theme which inhibits his playing, on top of that Tomer honestly is one of the worst players I have seen. I don't mean this as a mean statement mind you I like the guy and the show but I don't think I have ever seen someone misplay as often as I have seen Tomer punt away games. Not even like Seth who is actively trying to just draw cards, and makes suboptimal plays so that he can draw cards. Tomer actively makes bad plays which Seth points out multiple times throughout this video. To point out a few Madness to kill Seth's coffin queen on his turn basically at sorcery speed instead of after Seth uses the dragon to board wipe Richard, killing the artisan giving Spice a permanent 14/14 emrakul, attacking spice forcing him to chump with his glen elendra archmage which sets up Richard for the attack forcing Spice to chump with his whole board or die, which perfectly sets up Richard to board wipe now that glen is out of the picture. Tomer just makes bad plays, he is a great deck builder as seen when he wins with his budget decks or can hold his own with 6 cmc tribal, but he is held back by his own competitive ability. This is of course in my own opinion, but when the table is pointing out your mistakes on camera that's just pretty bad game play.
Someone should have made a niv mizzet reborn deck and had access to all 10 shocks, chromatic lantern and all the guild leaders and nephilims. You would need to get pretty lucky to have a good game but if it did work out it would be wild
We legit just did this a few weeks back but with alot more restrictions Its such a cool idea. I hope my sites commander picks up like commander clash. You guys have been a huge inspiration to me and basically all our commander players. Thanks for the amazing content
Excellent choice of basics for Spice, Tomer. I use those very islands and swamps for store drafting. I use the Omar Rayyan GW panorama from lorwyn alongside them. The mountains are on their own though 🙂
I wonder if Tomer knows that that demon on the flip side of Elbrus, the Binding Blade is the demon that killed Saint Thraft, since this is a Vorthos episode. xD Also, that was pretty much the most amazing "end" of a game I've ever seen. You sure are bringing great guests this season. :D
A long video but an incredible one! Probably one of my favorite to date, it feels like each episode you guys continue to improve and produce great content even after all this time!
When Seth attacked Tomer with the Balefire Dragon at around 40:30 - he had another possible, good play that he didn't go for. Instead opting to do what he did. Use the Indulgent Aristocrat to sac himself and the other two vampires before, giving Anje, 3 more counters and thus 7 toughness. Seth would've then been forced to use the whip on her (otherwise he wouldn't be able to kill her until he would've attacked Tomer once again with the dragon). This would have taken 0 resources to pressure Seth more. What he did instead, made him lose a card (using the discard ability) and gain nothing in return. Give an inch - lose by a mile. Just thought I'd point it out as an opportunity to learn.
We need Tom back to do some real threat assessment. Tomer looting into casting vs Richard ramping, drawing, with wipe insurance is a little eh. Unless Seth genuinely doesn't like Tomer because Tomer cant grow a beard.
Karametra is a beautiful woman who brings bounty and life to the tables of mortals. Also Karametra: "The harvest has come. You will sustain me with your viscera"
Karametra is legit, I originally built my commander deck using Dragonlord Dromoka in the command zone to deal with a ton of control in my meta, but eventually moved Dromoka to the 99 and let Karametra take her place. There is a lot to be said about an indestructible commander that brings out any plains or forest (doesn’t have to be a basic) with every creature you cast, so even if the creature is countered, you still get the land. She kinda solves the ramp deck problem of drawing all your ramp and none of your gas by simply making every creature a ramp card.
@@PalPlays It depends on what you think of as powerful, if you’re trying to combo off then Siona or Captain Sisay are more powerful, but if you want to play a commander deck without an infinite combo in Selesnya colors I’d say Karametra is great for general creature based value decks, the original Trostani is top if you want to play tokens and the original Sigarda is the best voltron commander In those colors. I think part of what makes Karametra so good is that she is a form of card advantage that most opponents undervalue. I play her with a combination of disruption (like Aven Mindcensor) and landfall cards to grind out value and most opponents don’t realize how much I’m out-grinding everyone else until it’s too late.
I had enough of this episode just enough lol that wipe did work all thru the game. Im getting myself one and if i ever see seth I'm having him sign it.
That would be accurate if you started with a 1 card hand and that card is not already a swamp. To calculate probability you have to consider other factors, like the fact that you started with 7 cards in hand, and also consider if you already have swamps in that hand. for example, if you don't have a swamp in your 7 cards hand, and only have 16 swamps in the deck, then the remaining deck contains 92 cards, so the probability of drawing a swamp, would be closer to 16 out of 92, not 16 out of 100.
@1:12:00 your guest is wrong. Liliana went to each of the planes separately. They were not all there at the same time. There’s an article of text about Bolas telling Liliana about each plane to find the demons in to give her eternal youth. If you read the magic origins story for Liliana she arrives to kothophed’s plane last and he after displaying his power to her upon first meeting him he carves the scares into her.
Guys...guys...I love you and will always be a commander clash/MTG goldfish fan, but can we PLEASE get an episode that isn't just Seth and Tomer beating the hell out of eachother for no reason while everyone else watches? I know these games are meant to be fun but at some point you have to realize how silly it is to wrath the 4 vamps on Tomer's board rather than the huge engine set up on Richard's. I mean c'mon xD
At this point can we have the editor be a guest for an episode? Editor can finally voice out all their complaints in person. XD
I second this!
Me too!
I love this idea
Now this sounds great.
We should also have the artist who does the title cards as a guest.
Spice: “Come on deck, be nice. Gimme a land”
*Draws into Didn’t Say Please*
20:40 MODO has great comedic timing.
Lmaoo 🤣 how fitting
Playing Tibalt and immediately chucking Lilliana in the graveyard is the most Tibalt thing that could have happened.

Spice8rack not playing Slobad?
Truly, we have been betrayed this day.
3 hours and 20 minutes of Spice8Rack and the MTGGoldfish crew? IS IT CHRISTMAS!?
It's good, but it's not Mill vs Discard....
Tomar is playing Madness, and Oona is a mill machine. This is LITERALLY discard vs mill! Y'all didn't expect THAT, did ya?

Tomer not even considering the fact that Starfield is a 'may" ability is such a Tomer play.
Reading cards is for blockers!
In Tomer's defense, he got the flavor win by playing Emrakul and mind-controlling his enemy to help them win for some mysterious unknown reason!
Hells yes
Love that Spice8rack is getting the recognition he deserves
Drinking game: Take a shot every time Seth says banefire instead of balefire
So this is what you've been doing instead of the ethics of mill Vs discard? I see spice... I see
I will never understand this groups threat assessment

Seth's threat level analysis is either trash or actually hates Tomer idk which. Lol
He has to obey the boss (Richard)
Their feud transcends all.
I think it's tossup between him wanting to draw cards/durdle and screwing over Tomer.
After playing Tron so many times you know Seth loves seeing Karn trapped in the torture chamber art.
The lore behind that card is one of the darkest I've ever seen
I saw Rath and loaded this video up thinking "Sweet! Finally gonna see someone representing Slivers!"
Of course not >.>

I want a spice8rack lore-wyn video so bad
I kept getting confused watching this and now I want Commander Clash Rath vs Wrath vs Raff vs Rats.
According to Gavin Verhey, its AHN-jee. Also, given the Eastern European roots of Innistrad, the clan is pronounced Falken-raht
The spicy man himself!
Catching up on some back logged episodes. I love commander clash!

After tomer said spice didn’t like puns, my first response was this. Those vampire puns are gonna suck for spice. 🤣
Tomer played Richard’s turn about as bad as he could
Edit: OMG, Seth at the end. Wow. I can’t even...
Yooooo, love Spice, this is a great crossover!
I did NOT expect that ending. Amazing. Ha.
This was amazing. So glad I watched all the way to the end.
I know Spice is a busy man, but boy we need him on this show far more often😂
Never clicked so fast on a commander clash.

Spice rack. Figured long. Check time. Over 3 hours. Dope!

"Not that this game will be 4 hours." Reads Editor's notes. Glad I got a 6 pack for tonight.
What a fitting end to a hillariously awkward game.
I gotta say Spice8rack's deck is super flavourful and on theme! What are the restrictions that the editor is saying he didn't follow as strictly?
Spooky boots
Spiciest win for sure!

Using the hypergeometric calculator to calculate that the chance of drawing one of 16 swamps in a 100 card deck is in fact 16%

The thing is that it wasn't 16%
Close, but it wasn't
That isn't how math works.

Is it like the 4th week in a row that you are crashing modo?
So what actually happened that meant Tomer ended up controlling Spice's turn?
