I believe he was trying to seem less threatening to hopefully not be targeted by seth. had he played mana barbs losing 20-30 life would have been worth to just focus down tomer... but he still got the attention anyways so whatever
He wasn’t aware Seth was planning on milling him out and probably thought he would be more likely to survive the turn w/o manabarbs painting a target on him.
at 35:45 when seth asks who chooses what happens to his commander I assume only the owner can decide whether it goes to the command zone or not. BUT for cases like the war of the spark gods were they can go to the library, if you choose to not send them to the command zone I believe the CONTROLLER chooses whether it stays in the grave or goes in the library.
He was at half life and in one-shot range from Polukranos already. Playing manabarbs would’ve just caused Seth to kill him first (which he did anyways but Tomer wasn’t expecting to get milled out like that.)
FYI Crim, Pain Magnification only works on damage, not life loss (so Kroxa wouldn't trigger it). I play it in my Mogis pain enchantments deck and there's more life loss things than I thought at first (and many sources that deal *2* damage) and I found that without damage amplifiers, it's pretty much a dead card (unless you can reliably do 3 combat damage).
Yeah, I have it in a Nekusar hatebear/burn deck, along with Torbran. Makes for an interesting reaction. It also works well with the new Tectonic Giant, since it's effect hits all opponents on attack and when they target it. The only 2 life loss cards in the deck are Price of Knowledge and Archfiend of Despair. For Kroxa, Lifeline is a great card(until it's blown up). Chainer, Nightmare Adept also works pretty well.
@@kaszael I'm actually glad it does; as long as it's beneficial to others, it's less likely to be destroyed. Especially when I have a bunch of board wipes and an indestructible creature in play. Politics are a very important aspect of Commander after all.

Tomer playing Fabled Passage on turn 1 when he has 4 lands in hand and one of them comes in to play tapped at all times is just some of the crazy, nonsensical plays that drive me crazy in commander clash.
Midd Knight the way it works is you need a target artifact, enchantment, creature AND land or you can’t cast the spell. If there are no enchantments for example, you cannot cast decimate. You have to choose legal targets if able when it gets copied with narset’s reversal, that’s why the heroic intervention was so clutch because the copy had to target the same things for lack of better options. I might be getting the play by play wrong a bit there, it’s been a couple days since I watched the video so it is not entirely fresh in my mind.
Got me thinking... Boil (R): Destroy all Islands Flashfire (R): Destroy all Plains Acid Rain (U): Destroy all Forests Conversion (W): All Mountains are considered Plains. (close enough) Mountains and Swamps get a free pass on the hate which makes sense flavor wise. You can't really destroy a Mountain. Swamps are already dead areas that spread (Urborg, Contamination, Infernal Darkness, etc.)
Am I missing something? When milling out Tomer, why did Seth sac Polukranos the last time during his own turn? Is there a reason not to wait for Crim's end step?
32 LANDS is all I count Crim. I think you're a great Commander of chaos but your really need to start playing 36 lands or more (for real, not just saying you did like we can't count). Again.. I don't mind repeating it, having a big old eldrazi that shuffle your graveyard back into your deck isn't a bad thing, even if your deck isn't playing it, you just have it there, in case a savage Seth tries to mill you out.
1 Graveyard Hate deck versus 3 Graveyard strategies doesn't seems like fair matchup. Someone probably should have played Kunoros(likely Crim), that would've made the trick.
Whenever Seth says he has a fair deck, he should be the first one killed: Vannifar, Hoogaak, Golos, Heliod, Yarok, Razaketh, and etc were all classified as fair decks by Seth that he combo'd off with. As for Tomer, I think he should have gone for full hate mode and played Klothys Land destruction stax to avenge or at least justify his quick losses.
He should always be killed first, either he isn't going off and basically is an empty seat that makes rhystic study the best card ever, or he draws his tutors and is the only one playing.
It does need all targets, you still can't cast a spell if you don't have valid targets for all mandatory targeting. You don't necessary need four targets because a single card could be both an artifact and a creature, but you still need to target an artifact, an enchantment, a creature and a land.
