Central Line New Announcements (Adrian Hieatt)

- The day has finally arrived, the first CLIP train has entered service on the Central Line today (24/11/2023). The train ran on r/n 777, and only operated between Hainault (1048) and Woodford. Before returning to Hainault Depot at (1125). There was lots of TFL press officers present, presuming to make a full announcement, when the train officially enters service.
The Central Line 1992 Stocks are going under a major refurbishment which includes new lighting in carriages, CCTV cameras & Passenger Information displays added on the trains, making spaces for wheelchair users & also replacing the DC motors to AC Motors.
This video showcases the new announcements by Adrian Hieatt, who will be the new voice of the Central Line. Personally, I am all for the new announcements. I think they're clear and get straight to the point. I also like how they have added which side the doors will open and if the station has step-free access. Also added at Woodford is announcement to change for trains for Central London. I believe this will also be heard at Leytonstone.

What do you guys think of the new announcements?
Personally, I am all for the new announcements. I think they're clear and get straight to the point. I also like how they have added which side the doors will open and if the station has step-free access. Also added at Woodford is announcement to change for trains for Central London. I believe this will also be heard at Leytonstone.

not too sure about these announcements, sounds a bit too robotic for me at some points. i'll probably get used to it as time goes on though.

It literally doesn’t sound robotic at all. People are just finding issues with it because they’re blinded by nostalgia
Robotic to me is the sub-surface fleet. Most human is Bakerloo, the last remaining Emma Clarke. Victoria line isn't bad, Northern is butchered to buggery, Piccadilly is quite nice, Jubilee for the most part too, but will they please get rid of the duet of voices! Old Central was ok but mostly horribly outdated. I don't think they'd updated the announcements properly in twenty years, except a few inserts for the Elizabeth line. So many out of station interchanges not mentioned, because they weren't considered worthy of mentioning in the early 2000s.
I rather like these new Adrian ones. Lots of extra info and very clear.
I think the biggest upgrade is the screens. I like how they replicate the Victoria Line a lot like the motors, announcement screens etc. Whilst I will miss the old announcements, this refurb will help a lot for tourists and early english speakers. It’s very clear and it’s said nice & slow. Perfect for passengers who are visiting the country.

I actually liked the announcements, and they are more specific, including changes on individual branches on the central line, which will be helpful to passengers.
I also really like the new announcements. These announcements will also be featured on the BLIP 1972 stock trains (Bakerloo Line Improvement Programme) and new wheelchair spaces, dot-matrix displays, and LED interior lighting. I saw one on a test at Waterloo a couple months ago and I am really excited to see more CLIP and BLIP trains in service in the future!
Some of these seem a bit verbose although I still prefer actual sentences like this, especially when compared with the Elizabeth Line or newer Overground trains. Also kinda funny that it took nearly 40 years for these trains to get DOT Matrix displays even though their 1986 prototypes had them (along with a male announcer).

1:12 How can Woodford be step free and be announced as mind the gap between the train and the platform. If it was step free, surely a mind the gap announcement is not required.
Woodford is only step free from the street to the platform only, the gap could be quite big so that's why I think they tell you mind the gap, although I personally haven't been to Woodford for ages. So I'm only personally guessing.

This is way better. A much needed rejuvenation for a dated but still modern tube train.
And this DVA reminded me of the 86 Stock’s announcements back then.

@@yasmineacosta4505the female voice was good but it sounds so reverb and badly recorded and outdated now. Time goes. We just have to learn to move on. Adrian Hieatt announcements are much clearer anyway.
I think it sounds less "sexy" than Emma Clarke's voice but it is a thousand times clearer. The speaker quality has been improved also, but this tone will detach much better in a noisy environment.
Yes, that voice doesn't sound very fluid but I think it's intentional. Important elements in the sentence are more easily identified.
And I would add this is still made by a professional voice artist, not by a robot, which makes it more natural.

My opinion about this new announcement is, that it is not that bad. The Emma Clarke's voice on the central line is better, but it could be worse. 😅

Better acceleration
The old motors were increasingly unreliable
they are more reliable
In all honesty, I think there are some mistakes in how the speech is done. For example, on Roding valley, there should be a pause before saying the station name.

The screen scrolling of the text could be a little faster in my opinion, it’s so slow which may be a problem for deaf people but maybe I’m overthinking it

They've gone back to TOO MUCH INFORMATION announcements where regular commuters will soon be tearing their hair out at the smug-sounding, I like the sound of my own voice so I'm going to keep going for that bit too longer.

true, but amy other type of voice will sound like its copying a different existing announcer, ive tried and couldnt think of a different tone that would make sense for automated announcements (stuff like syncing words to a song is counted as unsuitable for automated announcements in my eyes)
