How long did the paint last? I live in europe and there we rubb the wheels with sandpaper and give 2,3 coat of primer when is dry we give 2,3 coats of colour and last we lacqer it Sry for bad english
The Plasti Dip was on for a year & 6 months then I peeled it off to go with a different shade of blue, that has been on there almost the same amount of time.
That looks good! Lovely blue colour! Boring job masking though. I tried "painting" grease on the surfaces not to be painted. After the paint was dry, I just rinsed the things in hot water. Works but quite difficult to make nice edges.
i like it, you will never get plasti dip smooth unles u spray it heavy an thats hard to do on that small a surface, its textured for a reason, thats what the product is intended to be..but i am curios if it comes off as ez with the glossifiyer on it
Once I stop playing with these rattle cans & get my Plasti Dip spray gun I know I will have a better outcome. They say on there websight the plasti dip in the gallon cans is a new formula that will spray out smooth. Ive also read on a few fourms people thinning the gallon stuff down & spraying it out of a gravity feed gun with a big tip.......Thanks 4Watching
100SpokeRiderz Has the blue faded at all? alot of peoples blaze dip tended to fade in less than a month and i was wondering if the glossifier helped at all
Los dibujos de la rueda delantera...... aca se recomienda ver el sentido de giro y la tuya estaban AL REVES ok'? ...yo tengo una suzuki 125 DR Y TU MOTO ME ENCANTOOOO..es muy fachera....
Nice video. It definitely had that Smurf blue look before you put on the glossifier. Just wondering how it’s held up over time? Nice job though it definitely needed some color. Gives the bike some Pop
I had it on there for a year & 6 months then I peeled it off to do a different shade of blue but it held up great even did a tire change th-cam.com/video/-CS35BTQ_Wo/w-d-xo.html
Im going to see if my vinal guy can match the same shade blue & if he can Im going to have him cut me some custom vinal stickers to add a little more blue to the bike or I might just plasti dip a few small parts on the bike.
Looks great. You know you will have to re-do this whole thing when it's time to change out your tires, right? They might sell rim kits that are anodized blue like that. Then you can buy different color spokes of your liking. More expensive, but won't peel off when you change your tires out.
no wonder I haven't seen anything from ya, damn notifications weren't on since YT made changes a while back... Anyhow I'm curious as to how these will hold up off road on my 450 🤔 I'd hate to go through all the work just to trash it in a weekend.
I try to drop a vid a week but to answer your question it holds up great, Plasti dip holds up great as long as its put on the right way. Ive been threw 1 tire change, 2 light crashes, & off roading in mud/dirt/gravel a 6 or 7 times but the dip holds strong.
Right now I dont have the tools to take the rims off the bike yet & I would need to take them off to spray the spokes. I think when Im ready to get new tires Im going to plasti dip my rims again but with 2 colors & more detail....Thanks 4Watching
I would stick with 2 cans of the Dip & 2 cans of the Gloss even tho I only use one can of my Gloss I should have used both of them. When it comes to putting Dip on some rims that will go off road & be in mud, sand, & rocks the thicker the better with less chance of chips/ scratches....Also the thicker it is the easyer it is to peel off.... Thanks 4Watching
I did a tire change but I had the shop do it on the tire machine & there was no scratching at all. Im not sure how well it would work the DIY way with the bead breaker & tire spoon hand tools
I like the glossifier because it makes the cleaning go a lot easyer when I plasti dipped the rims on my caprice I did not use any glossifier and the dust would just cling to the rims. as long as you put it on the right way Plasti Dip will only come off if you pull it off check it out Plasti Dip Peel on 22" Iroc rims
How long it lasted? I had my car rims covered with plasti dip, after driving on a first rainy day it started peeling off... I used german Foliatec plasti dip..
I've never heard of that brand but mine lasted about a year until I peeled it off to change the color. The key to it lasting long is how clean you get the surface your spraying
100SpokeRiderz I had the rims squeaky clean, with jet washer and then cleaned it with alcohol, funny thing is that in dry weather it was absolutely fine for few weeks, once it rained and the thing became wet it started peeling of..
john Smith I redone my rims with a different blue a while ago here are the 3 vids th-cam.com/video/aRa0H0s1YDA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/-CS35BTQ_Wo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/SgRfXxA2rDo/w-d-xo.html
Looks amazing. Do you guys think this method would hold up on my KLX 250 while trial riding?, or should I use real paint? Looks good man and I love the bike!
+Miracle Detailing by Kevin It will hold up just fine but if you scrape it against a bolder it will scratch just like paint or a unfinished rim. Ive never done any Hard Enduro style off roading but my plasti dip had held up threw mud, dirt roads, one crash, a tire change & a ton of power washing th-cam.com/video/9T_2Gxuu5oA/w-d-xo.html
i will say this, DipYourCar has done i don't know how many rims for cars, and the tires are completely unnecessary to cover. the spokes i can understand because you can't peel in one big piece. But, you just get a good coat on the rims and don't worry about the overspray hitting the tires. You;ll get a good coating just like the rim and you can simply just peel off the dip on the tires once it's dried.
I know what your saying but a thin layer of Plasti Dip over spray is very hard to get off but when its thick it peels easy. I covered my tires because I only had 2 cans of the blue & I wanted all of it to go on the rims I did not have enough to spray on the tires to make the peel easy. DipYourCar has a warehouse full of Plasti Dip & a unlimited supply of the stuff that's why they never cover there tires up..... Thanks 4Watching
Its very durable as long as you put it on thick enuff Ive had my rims stuck in a rock pile, Ive layed the bike down in the dirt, & its been in the mud a few times th-cam.com/video/WUq0mbbwkuw/w-d-xo.html
I would have used red paint ... I have an NC700 (black \ gray) and will do the rims in red. . Some tricks you could have done to make things easier: . a) Drain the air out of the tires and use playing cards pushed down in-between the rim lip and tire bead (and lay each card over each other) for masking (who cares if paint gets on the contact patch of the tire - Plasti-Dip wont stick to the rubber anyway) . b) Take 2" masking and run it around the perimeter of the (outer end) spokes (one continuous length of tape) along the rim, then use paper to cover the rest of the spokes (to the axle) and use tape to adhere the paper to that 2" strip of tape. . c) Put the bike on a wooden block (whatever) under the engine and get the wheels (one at a time) off the ground, then spin the wheel while applying the paint. . Doing the (a), (b), and (c) method will take no more then 2 hours to paint both rims.
Too be honest I dont think the greese or vaseline would have stayed on them spokes in the 110 degrees heat that day. with my luck it would have dripped off & messed up the plasti dip I was trying to spray...
I loved the look of the bike from the first time I layed eyes on it because it seemed like a blank canvas with no color & I knew all it needed was a splash of color to make it stand out.....Thanks 4Watching
yeah 100% im sure of it especially on the tires plasti dip will last you a year atleast if you use it frequently from my experience anyways.... but i can guarantee his has chipped off....oh and plasti dip catches alot of dust if you dont use dip coat protective spray....
Nope been on the bike for a year & 5 months now but the dip is still holding strong I got one black tar stain on the back rim from rolling threw some fresh hot tar on the road but no chips or peels. I use my bike off road every once & a while so its not all smooth road miles th-cam.com/video/aoSaBn8359U/w-d-xo.html this Dip will hold up as long as you put it on the right way (thick & grease free surface )
+Ryan Leach Powder Coating is cool but when I shot this vid I had only had the bike a week & I did not want to take the rims & tires off to get them powder coated. Also I like to change the color once a year so Plasti Dip is a better choice for me.... Thanks 4Watching
The cardboard thing only works if the rim is off the bike I needed to spin the wheel on the bike & still spray both sides so tape & paper worked best for me. The second time I did them I used foil on the spokes but I still put tape & paper on the tires
Sir .
good look 1 bike ring blue colour
And 2 bike ring rade colour _____?
That blue totally changed the way that bike looked. I like it man.
Thanks 4Watching
What an amazing shade of blue. I will definitely use Blaze Blue and the Glossifier. It's the perfect shade I need.
+KunaiKrazy Thanks 4Watching
@Stephen A yes I had to use a razor blade but just to cut around the lip of the rim
Looks great. I'm getting ready to do the rims on mine. After watching I think the time invested will be worth it.
never heard of plasti dip, pretty cool, and I think that color looks sharp with the gray I'm impressed! good job

100SpokeRiderz that would be hella nice .keep it up mayne
is it good on the rear rim ,because of the grease from chain ,could you wash rim normally without damaging the dip
+sajko felix Ive hit my dipped rims with the power washer & purple power chain grease off many times with no problems
1 hour = very time consuming?
Looks real good!
Did you have to use a razor to get that tape off after painting? I'd think it would want to pull the paint up with the tape.
Nice job. That blue really looks nice with the dark bike. I like the old Cutlass in the back. Anyway, nice bike and good job.
Kenneth Hildebrand I will be redoing these rims real soon, new Plasti Dip vids coming soon.... Thanks 4Watching

maybe next time. you can use staws to cover youre spokes for the paint
I went with a different shade of blue & this time I used foil th-cam.com/video/-CS35BTQ_Wo/w-d-xo.html
that's pretty awesome. now you should do the spokes black..

How long ago was this how well has it held up to wear and tear
It was put on 4 months ago & it has held up good in that time
I live in phoenix I want to know can you use candy paint on car or the Sun will burn it.
Yes you can but you have to use the good clear coat & some UV protection stuff you mix in the clear also
Was 2 cans enough, or could this be done with 1 can (about 5 coats)?
I would stick with 2 cans of the Dip & 2 cans of the Gloss even tho I only use one can of my Gloss I should have used both of them. looks great I think I would have went for a gold rim on the black bike
Thanks 4Watching

Those wheels look sweet! How hard is it to keep from scratching them when changing tires?
I did a tire change but I had the shop do it on the tire machine & there was no scratching at all. Im not sure how well it would work the DIY way with the bead breaker & tire spoon hand tools
does it still hold up? im thinking about doing my bike
+MrTopGunnar It holds up great as long as you put it on a clean grease free surface, always use a top coat & you put it on thick
100SpokeRiderz have you had any problems with the rear rim getting chain grease and stuff on it causing it to peel too early?
***** Nope & a few months after this vid was shot I swapped to the Dunlop 606 tires the dip still held on great
Looks really good bro
Thank You
@100SpokeRiderz Good tutorial & ima do this on my atv. Also do you recommend the glossifier and is it true if plasti dip come offs quick ?

Drinking straws slit lengthwise for masking the spokes...?
Good move with the glossifier
If I ever do this again Im going to try to use straws 4Sure....Thanks 4Watching

+100SpokeRiderz hahahah nice didn't see it
you could of cut cardboard to size to cover it up. would of took 15mins
The cardboard thing only works if the rim is off the bike I needed to spin the wheel on the bike & still spray both sides so tape & paper worked best for me. The second time I did them I used foil on the spokes but I still put tape & paper on the tires
you could of cut a slit in it to fit around the brakes then tape the hole/cut so no paint gets through. ive done it b4
You should do a youtube video & post it up because I would like to see how to do it your way, Im always down to learn new tricks.... Thanks 4Watching
