How To Make Banana Stem Curry | Kerala Traditional Style Banana Stem Curry

- Ingredients
Banana stem -medium piece
Curd -1cup
Shallots -5 or6 nos
Green chilli-3 nos
Dry red chilli- 4 nos
Curry leaves- 3 sprigs
Mustard seed -1 tsp
Oil-1 or2tsp
Salt- 1or 2tsp
Method
Firstly , we have to peel the outer layer of the banana stem, cut into small round shapes .
Then remove the fibre using your fingers while cutting.
Them chopped the banana stem pieces into small and put the chopped pieces in a bowl fill
with water.
Then drain the water and keep aside.
Take a pan add chopped banana stem ,curd ,salt and green chilli combine them well, keep
aside.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard seed , dry red chilli, curry leaves and shallots ,fry them well.
Then pour the fried ingredients into the banana stem and curd mix bowl, combine them well.
Serve the tasty and healthy kerala traditional style banana stem curry with meals .

This vegetable is one of my favourite vegetables, rich in nutrients and fibre dense. It has great health benefits.
Surprisingly, in this land of abundant banana thottams, this vegetable is rarely seen in Kannur , and shopkeepers and natives alike ask what is this vegetable?
. As if they dont know. Some kind of food snobbery!
The same vazha thandu is available in Pune , throughout the year, specially brought from Kerala and much appreciated .
Only one thing which surprised me was, that the vazha thandu in this particular dish, was not cooked at all, but served like a "raitha"
As for Ammas chopping skills , they are the best.
So perfect is the way she cuts each vegetable, and that too without using any fancy chopping board.
Fantastic.
I m fidaah on her cutting style....she has mastered her culinary style in perfection....she should take part in masterchef india....and I m damn sure non of her family members....kin n kith will never like anyone else's cooking.....
