Renault Captur: Buying Advice, Pricing and Rivals

Cars like the Ford EcoSport have been an enormous success, in fact, the EcoSport accounted for over 45% of Ford’s sales in SA last year.
But Ford would have known that at some point the party would become very crowded, and with the Renault Captur, it certainly has.
The Captur is very closely based on the Clio, a car which is also hugely popular in SA. The two lower models use the same 0.9 litre, 66kW engine as the Clio, while the range topping 88kW Dynamique, featured in this video, uses a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder turbo.
And thankfully the Captur also borrows heavily from the Clio’s attractive looks. In fact, with the extra height, we think it has more stature, and more presence.

Just bought one of these (almost identical spec) on the second hand market with 54000km on the clock. Absolutely loving it so far! Tech is a bit dated but impressive nonetheless, I have the 900T Dynamique 66kW model and I agree the performance isn't mind blowing but its adequate for my needs. I drove it from JHB to DBN this weekend and I was keeping up with and even overtaking most traffic on the road so don't count it out. I have the luxury of being able to drive the Clio as well because my girlfriend has one but we both prefer the Captur for the added practicality and slightly more commanding driving position. I think Renault really knocked it out the park with this vehicle and the upcoming model looks AMAZING! Will probably pick it up or the VW T-Cross on the second hand market in a few years as well to he honest.

A close competitor for the captur would be the citroen C4 cactus. It offers much more comfier seats plus those nice Airbumpbs :-)
rakgwadi moriti Too bad they pulled out of SA recently. Resale is going to be nonexistent - you can rather throw your money at Zuma, it would be more productive.
They didn't pull out of SA, they're still here. They have just suspended new vehicle imports until further notice. Parts and Service are good, and will stay in SA until they decide to restart imports.
Resale value: Completely unaffected (as they haven't left SA). Check out the pricing of pre-owned Cactus models on Gumtree, OLX and Autotrader - they still have strong resale values.

I am terribly disappointed from Renault. A serious car maker should support early models before spending money promoting new models.
I am an owner of Renault z.e. green electric car. Within 2 years, the range dropped fro 185 km to 85.
The local dealer claims it is a "normal" battery decay. The truth is that the car is equipped with battery that suffer from the heat .
I would expect Renault to take responsibility and replace the battery (which is still under warranty) with a new battery
that can work properly in hot climate.
