Please welcome the first ICON helmet to feature the MIPS Brain Protection System, which reduces harmful forces under impact. The MIPS technology is tucked away inside the familiar Airflite polycarb shell, which features oversized intake and exhaust ports, an inner sun shield, and a removable Hydradry moisture wicking liner. Meets or exceeds the following: DOT FMVSS 218 (US), ECE 22-05 (EUROPE), SAI AS1698 (AUSTRALIA) and SG (JAPAN) safety and testing standards. Does not ship with SAI OR SG Certification stickers unless purchased from an authorized dealer in that country.

Can i fit if i am an round oval?
pro tip: you can watch movies on kaldroStream. Been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.

Rotational protection is part of ECE 22.06 so from just about now on all new ECE approved helmets will have this kind of system

It's awesome to see another company picking up MIPS technology. I'm pretty skeptical about a lot of the proprietary rotation protection systems helmet manufacturers are releasing, so kudos to Icon for going with MIPS. I think it's absolutely worth the ~$70 premium. My only gripe is that it only comes in black. Don't get me wrong, it looks awesome. But I'm a big fan of bright helmets for visibility. A white on black color option would have been right up my alley.

Kinda funny that Mips are becomming a thing now in Helemts. Had it for years on my MBT Helmet and hell had it in my old Volvo from the 1989 :D
Put on your dark glasses, drop down the dark visor, slide the dark smoked screen and you are good to go.
The only thing I would of wanted to be improved from this helmet is the fact in winter your hot breath on the visor at the bottom creates condensation that goes up to the eyes eventually and it fogs up real fucking quick despite being far away from your mouth and nose. I had to buy a new helmet because I couldn't make it through the winter season as I had to ride with the visor cracked slightly open even at 70mph speeds. It should not be fogging at 70mph.
Pinlock is made for this exact reason

What's the logic in having a dark smoked screen AND a dark drop-down visor?

I wear sunglasses under a dark smoke visor. The visor by itself isn't usually dark enough on the highway.
I have a light smoke pinlock silver visor and dark smoke dropdown. But the roads when you need a faceshield are plenty bright enough year round. and it's my pfp.
My question exactly. I have a sun visor for when it's sunny, but at 6am or 10pm, I have to what, ride with the visor open?
Had couple or so issues with the old model. 1) Straps was not actually mounted on the shell and when I got mine, strap broke lose. The way it was connected to the helmet, I would not have trusted that helmet in case of a crash. 2)Not sure what head shape I have, but seller 3x/4x sent me diff sizes till' we got the largest size available, still won't go in all the way in. Icon said back then they only make for one type of head shape for Airflite :( . I want this bad boy but not sure if they've made any changes to it.
The regular Airflite is marked as a Long Oval... this is Intermediate oval? Or is the original wrong? I sent back the regular Airflite because it caused to much pressure on the front of my head and cheekbones.
I also thought so, and I also returned the airflite for the same reason, but checking their official website, it says intermediate oval for this one specifically. Maybe they changed it?

Long oval, and with the MIPS you get almost zero airflow through the top vents. I also find that there is a lot of wind noise coming in around the left ear, to the point where my ears are ringing if I don't have earplugs in.
Can you do at least a bump of coke before you start or do some pcp I want my reviews from revzilla as fast and wiry as possible

Thank you for the review. Nice-looking helmet. From what I understand Snell won't give a certification to a helmet with an internal eye visor. What I would like to know is if a helmet does not pass SNELL, then why not? If this did not have the internal eye Shield, then would it get Snell certified?
Bought one in local store. There is 2mm gap between visor and rubber seal on the top half. I will return. Check it out, guys.

So I’m a new rider or planing on to be one. I’m getting my license in about a few weeks. This helmet doesn’t come with Bluetooth...but will it be adaptable or can be added? Recommend a certain helmet?

I bought the previous version. I like it. But it’s fit is TIGHT. You’ll have chipmunk cheeks for the first few days. The biggest issue with this helmet is the weight. Adding another ounce makes that even worse. I bought it cause it looks great doesn’t have crazy graphics and is a decent safe helmet in the 250-300 range here in the states. I cannot recommend buying your first helmet in a shop enough. It’s like buying shoes. Just cause it’s a size 10 doesn’t mean it’s a size 10

@@masonhock6442 I could be wrong, the last I checked was years ago. But you used to be able to choose not to monetize your own videos which would mean no ads.
There are much more Shameless ways to make money. These videos are nice Productions and I'm sure they cost money
@@rosemont5339 TH-cam just changed it to where it auto-monetizes videos and you have to manually deselect for each video. TH-cam even set it so that a bunch of old videos the channel owner doesn't want to monetize were remonetized. So basically, it's more of a hassle for the creator.
I'm a small buld guy and most helmets I look at make my head feel huge like a alein head and just wondering if this helmet wouldn't make it feel like that ?

Just got it, and one small thing to consider for those of you who like to use the helmet bag that comes in the packaging to carry the helmet around when not on the bike - the bag that comes with this particular helmet is terrible. Not sure about other Icon helmets, but this one just looks and feels like a grocery store bag and the end is not even looped correctly. Compared to a AGV K1 bag and considering that the K1 is like half the price is really strange that they skimped on something so useful (at least for me). Other than that and waiting for like 6 months to get this in stock in Bulgaria, the helmet seems solid and what sealed the deal for me was the Mips tech.
I know that Bell is also using Mips for rotational protection but I'm curious what other brands are using. Anyone knows?

Had a shoei helmet size XL, got this exact helmet XL and I need to go up a size, way too tight.
But how do you put Bluetooth on this helmet?
Any universal unit will work on the side just like most other helmets. We'd recommend an adhesive mount, but you could make it so a clamp-style works just fine. A lot of customers have already installed them on the Airflite and you can find plenty of examples via Google.

According to their website it's a Long Oval internal shape, why are you telling people it's intermediate oval?
Because we tried it on and tested the fit. It does lean towards the Long Oval side of the spectrum, but still within the Intermediate Oval area for most riders out there. Don't always believe what you read on the internet - try it on and see how you like it for yourself.
@@RevZilla yeah problem is no one sells these in my country which is a pain, as I really like this style and have a long oval head shape, so most helmets are a bit loose in the sides.

It would not. You would likely experience pain and pressure points at the sides of your head above the temples given the difference between your head shape and the internal of this helmet. Since the exterior of the helmet and ventilation remained the same, this MIPS version of the Airflite has the same wind noise at speed as the original. How can you tell if its a Mps vs regular one
MIPS is typically a bright yellow liner on the interior which is a dead giveaway. Also, the MIPS logo will be on the back of the helmet and all over the name / product page / description, etc.
