Sam Ham if you knew anything of Holden you'd know they have three different brakes on the vf 2 ss. They come in the stock brakes, oversized brakes and then brembos. In this they have the oversized ones

More than happy with my VF SSV II.....even at a measly 304KW fun as f#ck to drive.... Plus with all the mods available, from OTR to cams to CAT exhausts etc,getting it up to 475KW isn't impossible. And I get to keep my license....

Not really a good comparison, you talk about all the features of the W1 but don't do the same for the SS. 'Here's the SS, it's normally aspirated and that's all we're going to tell you.' Also would like to see some comparisons of SSV Redline and LSA Powered GTS.

Production for all aussie holdens (sv6, SS, ssv, HSV) were cut in 2017 unfortunately. If you were talking about the w1 they were limited build and probably aren't coming to your country. They were finished in 2017 as well
All it needs is Pontiac badges it screams "Pontiac" from the front end and the aggressive design like all Pontiacs had the Trans Ams were always more sportier than the camaro and this HSV would have been the same sportier and more aggressive looking than the current SS

I love my wife's base model 2016 VF2 SS. For $52k in NZ, the "Smile per gallon" factor is friggen amazing. The Bi-modal exhaust barking and popping under the pressure of that lovely 6.2ltr V8 makes the twisties amazing fun. I was told after a month I would get use to it, but hitting a 45Kph corner at 80kph while dropping it into 3rd then 2nd gear ooohhhh the noise. We have clocked up 8 Thousand kays in just under 3 months, (General use in NZ is 10-15k per year) it just shows how much we love to drive it. I could never afford a W1 and for me I can't even justify the step up to the SSV Redline for another $20-25K. How about a race (both track and strip) between the three, base model SS, SSV Redline and W1.
look at the w1 price now being 6 years old---750k a nice earner for smart people and the w1 ute over 1 million--my brother has 1 stored away--he just got a c8 stingray and is going to sell that as he bought it for his wife and she died before it turned up--he also has an order in for a z06 for himself--should see it winter time--the c8 has jumped from 160k to 300k--the zo6 price may be like 220k--another which will go up heaps
Why they didn't add the factor of modding................cos woulda ruined them. Buy a cheap SS, series 1 or 2 doesn't matter. Charge or turbo it (not just that ffs, comes as a package, head, pushrods, valvesprings etc etc etc) , add some brakes, better suspension, then watch the W1 in the rearview mirror....... Cost, maybe about 30k for the SS (series 1) , 30k for the mods. Wow, 60k to beat a 150k to 250k car ? Who woulda thunk it ? W1 is great dont get me wrong, its just well well overpriced.
I dunno the bit that i didnt like is you wont see this car on the roads, I understand the fact that this car is a collectors item, but shouldnt you buy a car to enjoy the drive, not whats its going to be worth in the future?
put mine in for a faulty 02 sensor and after taking my cash it came back on 2 days later....they basically tols me i could spend thousands rectifing the problem. A mechanic looked at it and they replaced the wrong sensor !!
Stephen, there's your problem! A 02 sensor is vastly different to an o2 sensor... Get a 50 dollar obd tool and you'll be able to troubleshoot yourself. Well... Not troubleshoot your person, but your awesome Holden that is.
Is it that hard to understand. It's not simply about the outright power, the low production bespoke engineered parts make the W1 a car with limits far exceeding all measurable performance criteria when pitted next to a standard production VFII SS. It might be expensive but the exclusivity and overall ability make the car worth it's sticker price. You can have a 2008 Falcon for 12k, invest another $12k and run mid 10's in the 1/4 somewhat reliably... that's the kind of dumb comparisons people come up with. People with the means to buy a W1 wouldn't bat an eye lid.
@@carnut9193 you can make 500hp through an L77 with just a cam and long tube heads, for next to nothing. I just dont understand using blowers on blocks that love to spool. I would invest my money in a TT LS that cost half the price of a w1, though your right, suspension, brakes, and all that is far superior, the W1 is definatly much better engineered then the rest, but you can build a lot quicker for a lot less.

Unless an LS turbo system had extensive r&d the power band doesn't make for controllable torque delivery, good for dyno numbers, burnouts and 1/4 mile. I've raced manual L77's with cam, heads and full exhausts. The VF's are so heavy that they really aren't that quick around the 310rwkw mark. Plenty of street cred at car shows with the lumpy idle however.
over a 100k geezz........buy a ss grab a stroker rebuild kit ,upgrade driveline ,tyres, get a super charger or turbo kit make 700 to 1000 hp and could be done for less than 60K
they could have at least compared the W1 to a SS-V Redline which has the Brembo brakes front and rear. Engine and brakes aside, the tacky carbon bits and fancy materials in the cabin, these things are over hyped and massively over priced. No way would I ever consider spending that much on a HSV when I could get into a BMW M4 and have a car so radically superior dynamically which would absolutely blow the doors off the HSV in just about every way other than a straight line drag race which is only amusing a couple of times. I love the Holden Commodore and I own one myself but I firmly believe HSV went about this car in completely wrong way..

The seats in the W1 are standard HSV seats, just got different skin, but the shape is 100% the same, so for a car which is supposed to be the best for the last model made, you would think that they would have some of the best leather or better cushioning under the leather or alcantara , just like most MERCS or AUDI or BMW, which have heating, cooling massage and for the rear seats as well ? AUDI RS5 would beat the W1 hands down even a RS6 and cost less as well 2nd hand, lol :) A Lot more options as well, took one for a drive the other day just the GPs and the radio is 500% better quality and also configurable and the heads up display as well, is configurable as well ? Like they say you pay for what you get, but in the W1 its nothing but a Corvette engine with bigger brakes thats it, the corvette would beat it as well and cheaper to get in left hand drive get the new 2018 and it will eat it up alive and still cheaper to get and resale value will be just as good if not better than the W1, why because when it comes to the W1, it will take at least 10 years for a owner to make sure its got less than 3,000 KM on the clock to get anything back from what he has spent on it insurance, REGO, and serving as well ? The Kermit grren W1 which harrop did up to make sure it had 470 KW at the rear, was sold for over 220K and i believe the new owner smashed it as well, lol :)

15k on a TT setup will get you over 475 on mid boost levels.

The 2014-15 Camaro Z28 came with Trofeo R's standard. In fact the wheels on this look identical to the Z28's but the Z28 came with a 305 square setup.

The seats in the W1 are standard HSV seats, just got different skin, but the shape is 100% the same, so for a car which is supposed to be the best for the last model made, you would think that they would have some of the best leather or better cushioning under the leather or alcantara , just like most MERCS or AUDI or BMW, which have heating, cooling massage and for the rear seats as well ? AUDI RS5 would beat the W1 hands down even a RS6 and cost less as well 2nd hand, lol :) A Lot more options as well, took one for a drive the other day just the GPs and the radio is 500% better quality and also configurable and the heads up display as well, is configurable as well ? Like they say you pay for what you get, but in the W1 its nothing but a Corvette engine with bigger brakes thats it, the corvette would beat it as well and cheaper to get in left hand drive get the new 2018 and it will eat it up alive and still cheaper to get and resale value will be just as good if not better than the W1, why because when it comes to the W1, it will take at least 10 years for a owner to make sure its got less than 3,000 KM on the clock to get anything back from what he has spent on it insurance, REGO, and serving as well ? The Kermit grren W1 which harrop did up to make sure it had 470 KW at the rear, was sold for over 220K and i believe the new owner smashed it as well, lol :)
