I have a PS5 box here that has an 8k sticker on it, non of sony's PS marketing can be taken seriously.
Yes I’m looking at mine and right beside the 8K there is a 4K/120FPS and HDR😂 not falling ever again for their bs marketing.
Sad thing is it probably worked on some people I had to talk a friend down from buying an 8k TV when he bought the PS5
I’m always trying to tell people that the highest end PCs can’t even do it. What makes them think a system with 6 year old tech inside can. Lol
*it. None
4K gaming was a lie,
glad I'm still gaming on my old 1080p tv.
4K tv owners punching the air right now
The PS4 Pro added HDR and 4K support, keep in mind, so even if no games were actually optimized beyond these built-in features, that's a big upgrade just right there. Most people were just starting to buy 4K HDR televisions at that time, so there was added value.
God of war ps4 pro hdr 4k on a compressed TH-cam (hdr 1440p because my internet is bad) looked a lot better (I mean a lot) than it did running natively with hdr on my ps4 amuture.
When I reply it on ps5 with 60 fps 4k my brother thought it was a next gen exclusive. Damn!
AND it got an updated SATA-interface, which could take more advantage of an SSD. Perhaps that doesn't affect "performance" in games necessarily, but it definitely helps reduce loading-times, both for pre-loading as well ass just loading in assets on the fly. Plus of course other responsiveness as well as writing files. - I just wish an SSD was standard for the PS4 Pro, which would'be been perfect. But it was still a time that it would've been too expensive. - It also doesn't help that they literally included one of the slowest HDDs they could come up with. They definitely cut costs right there. - I feel bad for anyone who paid a premium price for a PS4 Pro and dealt with that HDD, waiting forever for games to load at least. - I got one very late and thus at a good discount, but put some money towards a good enough SSD (then just throwing the HDD in the pile of backup-drives), which was well worth it.
base ps4 had hdr
@trs8696 yes.
@@trs8696 Did it really? I have a launch PS4 and I couldn't make use of HDR for KH3. PC release sorted that for me :(

True. I own a 3070Ti yet I still game at 1080p for that sweet 144 fps.
We want 60fps. 1440p is fine. 60 frames a must. Performance quality is the necessity.
1440p isn't fine. 1620p should be a norm.
If the game can run at 1080p on ps 5 at 60 fps, it will be 4k at 60 on the ps5 pro with more raytracing on top. All thanks to 2-4 x rt and 45% more gpu horses power, but most importantly, the pssr that can upscale from 1080p to 4k far better than fsr.

Man I just want 1440p 60 fps. A lot of launch titles gave that, sometimes 4K 60. 1080p doesnt look great on a 4K TV and 30fps without motion smoothing isnt great on an OLED TV either. I'm just asking Sony for the bare mimimum to have a decent gaming experience.
@Greymatter-to3th I highly doubt the ps5 pro will even run gta 6 above 30fps

Let us wait and see what the performance will be when it releases and they compare some pro optimized games.
I still don’t get how they did so much with the ps4 and ps4 pro while they were so weak and this console generation we feel like we barely explored it and now we need a pro? I feel like we need to drop previous gen consoles once and for all and just make exclusive games for current gen
I still don't get how this is a issue for people who won't get the console 😂 If you have a PS5 and are happy with it, why do upset that others get to have another option. It's not hurting you. Now I understand the hate from Xbox fanboys
1080p, 30fps, and no ray tracing was basically what PS4 gen was. 1080p to 1440p is a big increase in resources, nevermind 1080p to 4k. 30fps to 60fps is also a big jump. Also, having ray tracing is unbelievably taxing.
@@60weHoodsta it’s an issue because it makes devs lazier and not optimizing games instead of looking for smart solutions like they did in the ps4 era
Look at death stranding 2. Fully next gen and it looks jaw dropping and we haven't even seen pro footage just base ps5.
Yes makes a huge difference- trying to get consoles to run 4K on what is essentially 2018-era PC hardware is a huge challenge @mza4739
Will it have fidelity mode at 60 FPS? That's all I wanted to know
10:23 What kind of facial expression is that Alex? lmao
45% increase in overall performance is pretty big, especially on the GPU side of things.
It’s not. 4k is twice as demanding as 1080p, for example on PC if you can run a game at 1080p60 you’ll run 4k at around 30fps, so a 45% increase is really not that much
Don't forget, the new upscaling technique will help facilitate the image quality even if it's not native 4k, that coupled with the increase in GPU power it'll help more games to hit 60fps provided if they're not too CPU bound. @@josef689
@@josef6894k is literally 4x 1080p.
@@kumiho1729 I know. But when a pc is running a game at 4k and you drop the resolution to 1080p you don’t get 4x the performance, you only get around 2x the performance.
And still not big enough for 60Fps 4K 😂😂
I really hope the upscaling is good because otherwise they really should have gone down to the 4nm or 5nm node and made something more efficient. But I guess they also figured anything stronger than 7800 XT-level performance would get bottlenecked in too many scenarios by the Zen 2 CPU.
They should just go to the 1nm node straight away and implement two CPUs and GPUs, double the memory and include a 4TB PCIe Gen5 SSD. - It's fn obvious!
@@michaelmonstar4276 I just feel it was a bit dumb to stay at 6nm which isn't much better than the 7nm the PS5 launched with back in 2020. PS4 Slim and Pro went from 28nm to 16nm

@@Nintenboy01doubt it, in no way developers and studios will mak e games just for ps5pro, majority of the markets are still within ps5 era hardwares, this is mostly going to be a fedality upgrade for exclusive games on performance mode 😅
Why wouldn't it be on TMSC N4P? That's more likely. It would definitely keep the Pro's TDP within the typical ~200w window or thereabouts.
Because the newer nodes are more expensive, significantly so. Same reason Nvidia isn't using N3 and the Switch 2 is staying in the jurassic 8 nm node.
Only high-end smartphones running small chips at lower frequencies go for the cutting-edge nowadays.
@@deheavon6670 Nvidia WILL use TSMC 3nm. There's no reason to think that PS5 Pro wouldn't use at least 5nm. Nvidia Lovelace has been on it since September 2022, with the more mainstream cards since April 2023. By the end of 2024 TSMC 5nm will have been mainstream for 18 months, and the latest high end Nvidia cards will likely launch towards the end of this year on aforementioned 3nm. All signs point to production capacity and cost being adequate for at least 5nm. Citing cost as the reason makes sense for 3nm, but not for 5nm or even 4nm. Depending on what specific process it would be.
It won't be on 3nm because of cost but it should be on TSMC 5nm. Navi 32 is on 5nm so it seems obvious any PS5 Pro will be on an equivalent or better. Don't know why they keep saying it will be on 6nm. AMD will not redesign the graphics architecture to suit an older inferior process. I guarantee it is 5nm or better.
The GPU is a cut down of a 7800xt. If the suggested clocks stays as it is. Then the power draw is going to be likely 220 - 240. The 7800xt peak wattage is ,270 watts. The ps5 pro will do just fine in terms of power.
45% more raw performance with identical cpu and ram (outside of a small uplift in bandwidth) is really impressive. I think gpu bottlenecks will see a major improvement while overall raw processing means the system wont be doubling 1440p performance because they will run into cpu limitations. All we want is better performance with ray tracing and 60fps.
That's a significant uplift in GPU performance no way around and higher bandwidth plus more ram available for games. This console will be a monster. Don't let PSSP be as good as DLSS2 . We don't even know if the system is capable of frame generation. If these rumors become official official I'm buying.
45% uplift 4 years later is NOT impressive. lol
What's worse is that the cpu is almost unchanged meaning higher fps will not be achievable. You'll still be playing BG3 with hugs dips and Dragon's Dogma 2 at sub 30fps.
@@TheIndulgers kinda impressive how people watch this channel and still don't know how a bottleneck works. I can put a 4090 in the PS5 and the performance would still suck.

If the ps5 pro can combine the two and hit 60fps on the "graphics" mode then it may be worth the upgrade. I can't even take advantage of the 120fps bc I play on my projector which maxes out at 60hz.
Based on what presented, they can't do that. They would have to make new mode for that of course and that needs effort. Not just unlocking 60fps mode.

Wouldn’t a 45% increase in performance just be 5% less than the PS4 Pro was to the PS4? Meaning the jump will still be worth it?
The PS4 to PS4 Pro saw a 30% increase in CPU speed and around an estimated 130% increase in GPU performance while in games. The PS4 Pro basically allowed either double the frame rates or increased fidelity and/or resolution, over the base PS4.
Pretty much, the PS5 to PS5 Pro only looks like a minor upgrade, in comparison to it. In a nutshell it's only around a third the amount gain in both CPU and GPU performance, compared to what we saw between the PS4 and PS4 Pro.
The only noteworthy gains of the PS5 Pro is the increase to RT performance (PS5 is gravely lacking, BTW) and the additional AI chipset that allows things like AI upscaling (PSSR). Although the later will likely be somewhat covered by FSR on the base PS5.
As for being worth it? That entirely depends on your viewpoint and how willing you are to delve into your pocket!!
@@fafski1199 I see, thanks!
Pro was 120% faster. This is 45%. The game changer here is PSSR which'll seriously help save gpu resources for better graphics while RT also gets a boost.
If they advertise it as 40% upgrade, it is basically the maximum in theory and it would average 15-20% increase. So if it runs at 1440p and 50-60fps in performance mode, you can expect 60fps. But that is the most you can expect.
Most games aren't CPU bottle-necked on PS5, so GPU and upscaling should be looked at as huge wins for the Pro.
The PS5 Pro would need double performance or more, best bet for the jump in performance is an equivalent as good as a 7700XT or 7800XT with FSR3 then youre running everything at 60fps. I love how now that Microsoft Xbox got burned people learn what Mark Cerny said about Tera Flops
Exactly. When the console wars were going on about the ps5 and xsx. Pro Microsoft people were all screaming about how TFLOPS matter.
We know for sure if this was Microsoft launching a pro model these guys would go back to pushing the teraflops line again. As much as i like DF for their analysis breakdowns they are the main reason why fanboys ran with the teraflops line before the generation even began.
I think there should be a pinned correction on the videos about leaks which were inaccurate
Hey so which are the games that are proven without doubt to be so cpu limited that you wont see a fps boost by doubling gpu proccesing power?
Keep hearing a few youtubers being disappointed that the cpu wasn't really upgraded between ps5 and ps5 pro, don't really provide a list of games that wont see any improvedments in frame times from upgrading to the ps5 pro.
Salty because MS isn’t doing a new console at this time.
That's because there isn't a game that's CPU limited. Only limited by what the programmers can do. Most modern games still only use 2-3 cpu cores
Dragons Dogma is one. Elden ring sort of sucked with CPU. Peformance mode on ps5 and series X still sucks. Even on my PC it didn't do so well in Limgrave. Heck, my brand new 4090 laptop still can't fully max out and maintain above 50 fps at 4k. Balldurs gate 3 .

The base model is sadly struggling to run the latest games at 1080p with 720p or 900p being base dynamic resolutions and only using RT on shadows, unless you're talking about a PS4 game because then it can run at 4K at 30 FP/s or 1440p at 60 FP/s. PS5 Pro will probably solve this, if they keep the same CPU, there won't be performance improvements on mostly any game but visual quality will be improved so maybe this console will achieve 1440p or 4K. Unless you are talking about an indie game with a very good optimization like "The Tourist", I don't think that it will run at 8K even with PSSR, FSR, XeSS or even DLSS if it had it for some magical reason.
I think 8k is four times the pixels of 4k, so it would have to be four times more powerful than the ps5
Nobody needs or wants 8k
@@kieran9882 It wouldn't have to be 4x the PS5. If it takes 2ms to do 1080p to 4K then one assumes it takes 8ms to do 8K. This would mean that at 30FPS (whose frametime would be 33 ms) you could do it but the fram would have to be ready in like 20 ms which is possible given the raw horsepower of the GPU. Then again if the base image is like 1440 P it would likely take less time. If the image is 4k already like many PS5 quality mode games, it then becomes likely. The real issue at that point is who the hell has an 8K TV? Also, if the game is 60FPS, would you be able to even pipe that through a regular HDMI cable?

Atari Jaguar 🤪
AMD pretty much doubled up TFlops with when they bought in double compute units with RDNA 3. However, it didn't relate in any shape or form, of doubling up the performance in games. The gains made where minimal at best. Pretty much a 33TF GPU on RDNA 3 would be equivalent to around a 18TF GPU on RDNA 2 (like the PS5 is using). You aren't going to see anywhere close to triple the performance due to going from 10TF on RDNA 2 to 33TF on RDNA 3 (A 50% increase at best). Also an increase in TFlops doesn't scale proportionly to the performance increase that you will see in games.
It also highlights one of the main reasons why using TFlops as a measuring stick, is such a dumb, highly inaccurate and antiquated way to try and measure performance these days. And exactly why most PC techies, ditched it, years ago.
BTW, Nvidia also pulled off the same "trick", when they did a very simular thing.
@@fafski1199 "Do the math" was Atari Jaguar's marketing campaign during the bit wars. T-Flops is the new Bit. Look it up for a good laugh.
PS5 Pro is like a Ferrari compared to a Mustang, however that Zen2 processor will limit the speedometer to 50mph.
it’s pretty much 10.3 tflops vs 16.75 tflops (47% difference in tflops lines up with sony’s 45% faster perf claim)
It's a pro, not a ps6. Don't expect much. It ain't meant to replace the ps5 but only meant for buyers who are looking for specific spec upgrades. 45% improvement is good enough imo, just as the ps4 pro was a 50% improvement. I don't get why people complain. Seems like the pc spoiled kids. Consoles are here for a cheap alternative and they expect so much smh.
The PS5 Pro is said to be as powerful as the 7700 XT and the games are getting more demanding every year too, At that time even a 4080 would barely be enough for 4K 60. And don't expect the performance of a 5080 in a $500 console

RNA4 isn't out yet. What you think AMD will give Sony a leg up and have them access to RDNA4 before they release it on desktop? Lol no. It's RDNA3. So probably around 7700xt performance
@@Unicornpirate I meant the RT Cores, not the GPU itself. According to GPU-L, it will be a hybrid between RDNA 3 (rasterization) and RDNA 4 (RT & AI), that's why they call it "RDNA 3.5".
Also, the PS5 (RDNA 2) actually came out some days before the first RDNA 2 cards launched on desktop.
flops measurement between RDNA 1/2 and RDNA 3/4 are different because the shaders are dual issue on RDNA 3 + vs RDNA 1/2 being single issue meaning that 33.5 tflops in rdna 3/4 is the same as 16.75 tflops in rdna 1/2 in single precision, so in actuality it's 16.75 tflops in traditional FLOPS
I rocked a Vanilla PS4 from launch date till the end. It did fine and enjoyee every single game in it. That's just how that goes... People are acting like new stuff is happening, just because it's discussed on the internet more than before (and also new kiddos arriving on the scene that never have seen this stuff happen). - Same happened with PS4 its Pro, as well as PS3 and its Slim.

PS5 is almost the same as XSX, so Pro will be also 40 45% faster than XSX for existing games, but AI upscaling and RT capabilities could make image more visibly better for games to come.
@@gillesfleury2619 No it's not the same. The PS5 has 36 CU and a T flop of little over 10. The Xbox has 56 CU with 12 Tflop. The problem is developers are developing games on PS5 and porting them to Xbox. Most of the Features on Series X are not utilized.
What are you gonna do with that information...brag on Twitter how much more powerful it is compared to a Xbox? You gonna be all over "muh teraflopz"? You think MS is sitting idling around twiddling their thumbs and not have an upgraded console coming?

i don't think 45% is enough to sell that many units, but PSSR could make up for it.
I wonder if pssr will have frame generation for gta 6
@@revengefulsouls5201 Great question nd its looking more a more like it will. This is based on AMD's new information about FSR 3.1 which looks like it is the base for PSSR.
would be weird pssr not working in the original ps5 in fact they will need it to extend basic ps5 span.
@@nicane-9966 there’s no point of the pro model if it doesn’t have something thats worth buying for it and only keeping pssr for the pro model will actually make sales for the pro console
@@revengefulsouls5201 being 45% faster allowing likely higher resolutions and FPS is not good enough already?? the pssr is an upscaler to get more performance, it wont enhance the picture quality only the fps, there is a reason why you only use upscalers when you dont get a good enough experience because it makes your game looks WORSE not better, normally fsr and other upscalers are used by lower tier hardware... if youve got good hardware you shouldnt be using upscalers to begin with, frame gen is a different thing but this is not frame gen.
Ps5 pro GPU is basically a 2080ti which is good for 60fps 1440p high settings no RT on any triple A game
The PS5 Pro is said to be as powerful as a 7700 XT and the games are getting more demanding every year too, At that time even a 4080 would barely be enough for 4K 60. And don't expect the performance of a 5080 in a $500 console
Sony love to exaggerate. But I will be buying this day one to experience GTA6 in optimised settings ❤😂🎉
A PS5 ultra will also be launched along with the pro one.
It will me more or less be how PS4 to PS4pro was. You’ll be okay without an upgrade, expect for those games that are just so horribly optimized they are relying on the brute raw force of the hardware to yield good performance.
From what I've seen about the Ps5 Pro, it
seems like it will just improve the resolution
or ray tracing of the current performance
mode. Do you think the PS5 Pro will just be
an upgrade for those who play performance
mode on the base ps5? I wish the Ps5 pro
had its own fidelity mode at 30 fps but with
better graphics than the base model. I wanted
something like the difference in graphics on
the PC, from high to ultra, 4k on high would
be the base ps5 and the ps5 pro being 4k
on ultra in comparison. l'm not saying it that
would compete with the ultra graphics on pc,
but rather, between the two ps5 models, if
it is possible a visual diference in that level,
between playing everything on high and
playing on ultra. For those who prefer fidelity
mode at 30 fps, won't be worth buying the
PS5 Pro? The only graphical improvement
would be 2 to 3x better ray tracing? and for
games that may not use ray tracing. Like
Ghost, Tsushima 2 or Horizon 3, wouldn't
there be an improvement in fidelity mode for
these games? The fidelity mode will look the
same in both ps5 and the pro model? It would
only have a difference in the performance
mode? Can you pls explain more about this? I
want to understand it better

It's a pro, not a ps6. Don't expect much. It ain't meant to replace the ps5 but only meant for buyers who are looking for specific spec upgrades. 45% improvement is good enough imo, just as the ps4 pro was a 50% improvement. I don't get why people complain. Seems like the pc spoiled kids. Consoles are here for a cheap alternative and they expect so much smh.

The 4 years later n the ps5 pro is a measly 35% faster on the gpu, and probably
its not sony its the industry at a whole. in 2016 16 nm was a dirt cheap node. 5 and 3 nm are still really expensive which makes it had for sony to add more performance because they have to use a 6nm node.
Im not a geek so do you think gt6 could be a 40fps on the pro ? I dont really car as long as it looks good on my 86inch 4k tv.I would love to see a VR mode 😊the vr2 blows my mind playing GT7 but even a single mission in gta6 would be so good.
No way. VR needs a TON of headroom to run smoothly. There's no way a game as dense and complex as GTA will be able to run in RV. Especially not this weak mid gen refresh
@joshuam4993 I didn't say the whole game and I didn't say it would have vr support I just said a single VR mission would be cool.
But….will it run dragons dogma 2 at 60fps??
no, thats a cpu issue, and pro has same cpu
Even PCs struggle... so it is mainly a developer issue. People focusing too much on bad performances. @@kennethflaming8606
It probably can, yes.
Problem is that power is too low to have devs just unlock 60fps for graphics mode. They would need to reprogram all games. Complete waste likely thinking buying new console.
if they can update at the very least ALL The most popular sony exclusives, and a few of the bigger third party titles. Good enough for me. And/or just unlock framerate for the others and give a little warning "may be unstable"
Don't understand what you mean with "you don't actually get 3 times the perf". I would argue in some cases you most likely will. Of course it depends a lot on how complicated graphic's wise the game is, but if you take games that aren't "that" cpu heavy (RT aside obviously) you should be able to get at least close to 3 times the perf (at the same resolution of course).
The CPU is disappointing. I thought they would at least upgrade the CPU to a 3000 series if not a 5000 series.
stupid that they put zen2 instead of zen4
It's good to increase resolution.
The problem with this gen is not the power , its the quality of games ... In no point i was forced to make a pc to play a game like the witcher 3 back in 2013 or soon after that the gta5 . Im ok with the ps5 , there is no need to upgrade and play garbage aaa titles like these of today .
If I dont get Native 4K, at 60FPS then I don't see the point.
Not even the PS6 will give you native 4K 60FPS in demanding games with RT lmao.
Dude. Just give me 120 fps 1440p for every game. 4k not really a big deal honestly
@Sam-fq5qu are you a time traveler?
You sure about that?@@Sam-fq5qu
@@tristman8413 you don't need to be, to know what they said is true
It's a huge jump, and Ray tracing is 3-4x faster apparently too. Basically you'll be able to play more games at 60fps with more effects and more of them at 4k too. Not that I need that, 1440p is what I use. Getting the PS5 pro!
The PS5 Pro would need double performance or more, best bet for the jump in performance is an equivalent as good as a 7700XT or 7800XT with FSR3 then youre running everything at 60fps. Jumping to 4K native is a massive drain on the gpu but if using FSR you would upscale to 4K and probably hit 60 on some games, it’s so smooth you really wouldn’t know it’s not 4K native
No. Next question, please.
Forget the performance. Where are the games, like the ps2 or ps3 had??
What? You find many great games on PS5 + all PS4 titles. Are you a casual gamer?
7:00 no it is not right around the SX. The SX has 52 CUs running VERY slow. Yall need to stop doing that fake shit.
1.8ghz isn’t very slow, yes a bit slower but it makes it more energy efficient.
What gamers want: good and interesting games
What Sony thinks gamers want: 4k 120fps ray tracing, 20 bajillion polygons rendered a second, with load times faster than cartridges ever were. Oh yeah and here's a dozen remasters and remakes of games that you played over 10 years ago, and/or are also on PC
I mean I want that too lol
Good Enough? No, will people still buy ? Yeah.
Of course, it's the same CPU because it's a mid-gen refresh (like the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X). A lot of crying and entitled babies asking for Zen 3 or Zen 4 and keeping the same MSRP.
give me a 1k console that gives me 4k 120fps mwahahahahahahah
Listen to Theselius clowns WHO Said series x 2 lite tflopa Will pit ps5 Down lol not ps5 PRO got 3 timmes the tflops and they not amazed
You Can See Why People Switch To PC! Ps4 Pro / Ps5 = 4K 60Fps! Yeah Really? No Buy The PS5 Pro It Promises 4K @ 60 Fps.........
The Pro is ridiculous. Sony should be ashamed. They are taking the PS5 and amping it up a little. It's nowhere near the PS4 vs the Pro. Upgrade.

Exactly. Some people are expecting a generational leap, when this is only a mid-gen refresh.
