i have a better idea for u to get more likes on your video without talking nonsense to build a pc without usb c / windows OS /hdmi cables /controllers /wifi 7 /motherboard that dont support gen 4 gpus no keyboard & mouse and pc desk all these things need to play on pc so MY idea is how about making a video for all the pc gamers who still playing on 1080 and 1660 and 2070/2080 gpu pc and below PCs and those who dont want to waste 10000s of cash to get latest gpu every 2-3 years and why they should be getting ps5 pro instead of building over expansive pc ? if they only game but if they do other things with pc then its a different story
@@mutha_fnmikey2325 I find it funny that you call 4080 or 4090 as "true 4K gaming cards" when Nvidia is pushing technologies to render in a lower resolution to upscale it to 4K. It is the same thing what PS5 Pro will be doing but in lower FPS against the compared 1000-2000€ cards
I dont really know what you are trying to say, ofcourse console has similarities to pc. Consoles are just watered down pc's. Upscaling has existed for way longer than you think the Xbox one would upscale 1440p to 4k if you wanted that "4k" experience.
@@irsshill4502It's not even that , I think a 3060 ti is 16.2 tflops which should be about what PS5 PRO actually is when you cut its 33tflops in half down to real world performance.

As an owner of a PC and PS5 i feel like there is a good portion of people who should just by a used PS5. Alot of folks just play 2 or 3 of the same games because thats all they have time for .99% of big games that release will be on the PS5 .
Dangerously close to an equally powerfull 1000$ USD PC. Except with paid online, no mods, no steam sales, no emulation, no productivity tools and fixed 60fps.
A lot of games at 30fps only? On PlayStation? That's a reach. You can count them in one hand.@@ErockOnTech Also, there are 120fps games on PS5. Rocket League, fortnite, COD, R6 and etc

Here in the UK, the disc drive costs £100 and the vertical stand is £25. Total of £825 (about $1,083) just for the console! Then there's the PS+ cost which is £60/year for essential, £100 for extra or £120 for premium. And there's also the fact that new games cost £70. Depending on which PS+ tier you go for, you could be talking £1,000 ($1,300) FOR A CONSOLE! At that point you may as well just put that money towards a new PC. I'll just stick with my base PS5 and my 4070 PC.

I love consoles and I love PCs.. and I've been building PCs since the 90s and always have fun doing so. I remember magazines declaring "PC gaming is dead" several times over the decades and it just keeps on keeping on. One of the best things about PCs is just how scalable and customizable it is. There's a PC for every budget out there. My motherboard /CPU on my main gaming PC is over 12 years old now but still performs great(Intel i7 Skylake). I've upgraded the GPU about 4-5 times now and each time it felt like I bought a new console equivalent.
so you know how easy it has become.... everyone talks like building a pc is just putting all of the parts together..... most build this 500 dollar pc vids don't include the price of an OS. just put the parts together and 'it just works'. no driver installs, no bios updates, no trouble shooting....
@@caliginousmoira8565 Yeah, all those are important things to consider, which is why I said that love both consoles and PCs. The plug and play nature of consoles is a massive plus.. however, I'm very used to tinkering and I enjoy setting up and tuning the PC experience which not everyone is going to be comfortable with. The OS can be obtained really cheap on various OEM cd key stores legally for less than $20 bucks. If you play a lot of games online, you can't beat the fact that you don't have to pay for that service like you do with Xbox Live and PSPlus
Wow, $860 USD, that's quite a lot. Here in Australia, the PS5 Pro plus stand (sold out here), and disc drive (also sold out here), would be a bout $1350 AUD or $905 USD, keeping in mind, our prices include all taxes. However, I'd suggest, Sony knows, similarly to Apple and Nvidia, people will be happy to pay those prices for the latest and greatest, so whilst they may not be aiming at the average gamer, I'd suggest they're aiming at the enthusiast FOMO type of game.
So many people are saying “you don’t need a blue ray drive or the stand. This isn’t a fair comparison.” But your comment proves otherwise. If no one needs it, then why has it sold out in your country? This confirms my statements regarding the price point. Thank you.
it likely depends on title. the cpu that has good price to performance balance with a partner gpu will often be limited by the gpu, even at 1080p. if they have been keeping games capped at 30 and 60 fps, then it is unknown how limiting the cpu ever will be, since the utilization of all hardware will be lower. if for example the gpu is pegged at 100% then the cpu could be running at 60% utilization. by upgrading the gpu, the cpu would be able to stretch out a bit more, it may actually get pushed to 90%.
It depends on the developer......they said they can push some cpu work to gpu and Ober clock it, but we won't know till we get games.....but Sony makes good shit, idk why ppl are jumping out the windows.
@ErockOnTech, my PC specs are: Ryzen 7800X3D Radeon RX 7900 XTX 32GB - 6000Mhz DDR5 RAM 850 PSU What is the comparison to the PS5 Pro? Maybe I will miss out on AI upscaling because it will be limited to Radeon RX 8000 GPU's with FSR 4.0 but overall it will be way faster in comparison to the PS5 Pro. So in that case i"m i'll hope my pc will last until when the PS6 comes out
From a PC enthusiast perspective, I really don't understand much why it is a big deal. For me PS5 pro is a "optional" upgrade and PS5 also exist for those who don't want to spend more. Can anyone from the Console community give their perspective and a detailed points why it's not good? I'm just curious.
People just like to complain. Sony is giving us exactly what we asked for. The same great image quality that we were getting at 30 fps but now with double the frames. I’m not sure why people thought that would be cheap. But you said it perfectly. It’s optional. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy the Pro. Buy the regular one if you don’t care enough about the upgraded performance. It’s not being discontinued.
They're just crying cause they can't afford it , they want Sony give them the last tech available on console for 50 bucks more, these people are seriously stupid. I ain't buying the PS5 PRO cause I already have a standar PS5 ,Sony ain't putting a gun on my head to buy their products , people thinking that PC is "cheaper" have 2 braincells digging for 3rd place in their head.
Yea I think people just like to complain honestly. lol But this does show where prices are heading with consumer electronics. Consoles used to hold a good value proposition at one time but now that we know how much a PS5 pro is, its not so much the case anymore. When you look at the price of the console, plus a disk drive, one game, etc, your hitting the thousand dollar and beyond mark and thats no even including the subscription you need to pay on top of that so you can play online. I can find used gaming PC.s on market place in my area with 3 series and 4 series GPU,s for the same amount, or even cheaper. In my opinion, its better to wait and getting second hand or find a used standard edition model if you want to go the console route.
Laptop is easy to use, you can bring it everywhere, games are super cheap like a couple of dollars during steam sale, supports controller, and you need one anyway for work/school/entertainment.
great breakdown! thanks for this video it kinda helps in giving clarity to a lot of people trying to make the decision of whether getting the ps5 pro or getting/staying with PC
I get the Pro will be compared to different PC hardware. But I really think it’s incorrect to compare a Custom AMD APU to a discrete Nvidia GPU. The APU is custom, it can never really be one to one. Hope your doing well, always great content
It doesn't have to be one to one. Why should it be one to one? That being said while 7700XT might indeed be like PS5 Pro in rasterisation , I feel the Raytracing capabilities of PS5 Pro could be like 7800XT or better. If it's indeed up to 3x , that smells like 7900XT territory, but I could be wrong. Regular PS5 is somewhere around 6650XT-6700 in Raster. Not sure about RT, but I doubt 7700XT is 300% stronger in RT than regular PS5 .
@@devilsnightgaming kinda, think of it as an SOC - system on Chip. The CPU and GPU are on the same foundation(die). I call it Custom APU bc it’s not available to purchase independently.

Whats great about pc is seamless upscaling on steam where it just puts in frame gen onto any game ever so you get 120 fps when you can only run 60 fps.
I built a Sabertooth X99 years ago, maxed it out and threw in a 3090TI thats gotten me through multiple consoles gens. This is probably going to be my last go with consoles. I have a backlog that will keep me busy until I die.
There's so many ways to get a very capable PC for well under that. Even a 1080p PC experience gives you more control over your gameplay than any console out there.
@@x8jason8x I agree that there are better options if you mostly care about performance, but an idiot proof plug and play console like experience right out of the box is what Handheld PCs do. Prebuilts, mini PCs, or building it yourself all require setup and are not as idiot proof.
Disc drive is essential because you will save more money buying used games than the disc drive costs . Digital doesn’t work on console because on ps6 most likely your ps5 games won’t transfer over , on Pc it works bedcause your steam account is more stable
Pretty sure it was confirmed that the PS5 pro uses RDNA3, so I don't think you are correct about the 6800 being used. It's a hybrid generation GPU as the raytracing is RDNA4 tech. We'll know for sure in November, but it's probably just shy of 7800 xt performance but with a few extra tricks.
I think the CPU situation is bizarre, the exact same CPU that is running 10% faster and that is still slower/same than the Rysen 4400 out of the box in 2019.
Nice coverage on this topic. Was wondering why everyone says you cant possibly make a pc for that price point but then again most people aren't the most technical. Heres another build I just quickly made that should match it pretty well too, if not surpass it cause of gpu tweaking with adrenaline. Its X4zywg on pc part picker with all new parts, a more updated cpu, and even 32gb of ram. Sony flew too close to the sun on this one in terms of raw value. I fucking love the honesty with your channel sponsor 😂. Legit TH-camr right here! We all got bills to pay no hate. FWIW I built a $1,600 Intel PC last year. I’ve been victim to the instability issues of my i14700k, and driver/software issues of my ARC A770. It was brutal, after about a month of issue free gaming no regrets. That said, my PS5 is rock solid, no issues. Granted, I could have made a more cost effective PC build that was less cool looking, with more performance, for about $1,300. So basically, unless you’re willing to drop 2x the price for a PC, console is the way to go. But yeah, If you can afford to build a $1,500 PC, don’t mind trouble shooting, and really want that extra 15-20% FPS/Graphics quality upgrade, then go for it. If $2,000-$3,000 isn’t a lot of money to you, then PC no question.
So you built a rig that had a chip with known issues, and console is better because of it? Your only advantage in console, and I mean only, is the fact so many people think, like you, that you have troubleshoot PC all the time, so they buy consoles. No hate, but that's because you picked a bad cpu, and a gpu in development. You'd have been fine if you built an AMD platform, and it would have cost you less. When you say "built", do you mean selected from drop down menus on an SI's site? On no continent do you have to spend 1500 USD to build a computer capable of beating this Zen 2 bottlenecked, 30fps locked, microtransaction laden pocket emptyer. You don't even have to spend 700$ if you buy used, you can find plenty of rigs that stomp this thing's specs! Your gpu/cpu combo cost 900$ at peak, you spent another 700$ on the platform... to have it fail... it's okay to make mistakes man, but don't cry about getting roasted on cross platform play by kids on GTX1060 cards with 1080p screens with that PS5. They're better prepared for it than you'll be, simply on controller latency alone... never mind proper ports not broken by PSN. 15-20% better graphical fidelity? Lol... this makes me wonder if you've ever actually used a good pc, on a good monitor. There's no comparing the two... it's fine if you like Sony, M$, Nintendo... whatever, just stop trying to tell people who can play better quality versions of everything consoles do, in one place, that these crapboxes are better in any way. Consoles are the iPhones of gaming, made for people with no patience, or interest in dealing with computers. Again no hate, it just is what it is.

For purely gaming, people would upgrade to a ps5 pro for the same reason someone would upgrade to a gaming pc. Better gaming performance, that’s it. Game exclusives, software and additional hardware capabilities is more preference based. The real question is if you want better gaming performance, how much will you prioritize performance over costs A ps5 pro with both accessories is $810. You are paying $110 for accessories, but the console also comes with an additional 1TB of storage which normally costs $100 for the ps5 which already helps offset the cost of the accessories. All of this with the additional benefit of being able to play every game you already own, digitally or physically. Moving over to the pc side, assuming you’re looking for more of a value mid-range option. You’re looking to pay $1100-$1300 for similar or slightly better performance than a ps5 pro. You are paying a price premium to have flexibility of being able to use windows software, more software, and hardware related features not on the ps5 pro. No games you owned on console will transfer to pc, you will have to repurchase any game you’ve previously owned and only digitally Assuming the ps5 pro actually offers better visual performance or higher fps in games. I can’t see for the life of me how the ps5 pro is a bad deal, unless you are already happy with the performance you currently have. The ps5 pro just like a mid-range pc are meant to provide a 1440p 120fps or a 4k 60fps experience. If we’re somehow wishing the ps5 pro to be cheaper when it provides that level of performance and convenience then I don’t what good value is
Kind of off-topic, but I don’t know why tech companies do this to them selfs. When the Quest 3 released with its new chip set it was released with no new games or even tech demo that took advantage of the new hardware as a result, a lot of people did not upgrade. It did release with a bunch of other feature, so not apples to apples, but as a result, I think it definitely hurt sales
It did include a very fun mixed reality game called First Encounters which blew my mind when the first little spaceship landed on my sofa and aliens hid beneath furniture.
@@taptoplayde it did and that’s kind of the point it came with a demo to demonstrate the new mixed reality, but didn’t come with anything to demonstrate the new chip set. The Pro will be using Pssr and Frame Gen to even try and reach the 60fps mark. and anyone who knows how frame gen works would know, that it does not work well with low initial frames. You need good high frames to start with. DLSS is proven with years of use and updates and PSSR is not. PlayStation has allot to prove for the 700 dollars they are asking. This is not a 200 dollars upgrade you are paying 700 for PSSR and Frame Gen. Are the upgrades worth 700 dollars, more than likely not. Not to mention the untouched CPU (The Bottleneck)
Ur a moron, pc pplnhave said you can get 120 fps on pro and Sony themselves said u can do 8k on gt7..... 4k60 is standard for Sony games, 3rd party devs ca take advantage how every they want.IF they want, but that's not diff than any other game..
The Zen 2 CPU is not really a bottleneck. That CPU is still really good. And people forget that Sony and MS built a lot of custom hardware that offset and handled a lot of extra
honestly the price is not that bad despite of what youtubers says, if you consider how much pc parts cost now. I think sony got tired of selling ps5 on a lost and now they want to break even.
@ErockOnTech Well my friend this is a common topic between gamers, even developers at Microsoft and Sony talked about this, they sell their consoles systems on a lost profit, they make profit on their own store front, Gabe newell talk about this with the steam deck. Look at the cost of pc parts now and Look to what happened to the microchips. Sadly console gamers think that Sony and Microsoft are their friends.
@@ErockOnTech facts. Don't get me wrong I am going to get the pro only because when it comes to upgrading your technology I can only afford it by upgrading my consoles. Upgrading your console every 4 years is not as bad as getting the new iPhone or galaxy phone every single year like some people do. Also I got some friends who willing to buy my current ps5 from me for $350 and that's half the price for the pro right there.
As a pc enthusiast, I’ll likely only get it for it’s technical capabilities for comparison to see how far tech has come. Most are casual plug n play users, but us PC gamers are built different

A couple of things that you should've added to your video. 1. Consoles, including PS5, already use FSR. Although I believe most people think that FSR is far inferior to XeSS or DLSS due to those two using hardware acceleration. This is speculation but, PSSR uses hardware accelerated AI upscaling. PSSR may be used with FSR frame generation. 2. I don't believe that you made it clear, in the PS5 Pro video, they were comparing PS5 gameplay at 30fps to PS5 Pro gameplay at 60fps. The entire point of the PS5 Pro video was to say that you can get great console graphics at 60fps. Taking away the fidelity vs performance choice/problem on consoles.
I also used to hate to game on PC. In the past PC games were buggy and you could not use an Xbox controller. From the PS4 era PC games are stable and you can use an Xbox controller. Now I like to play games on PC. After Sony announced the PS5 pro I have to accept console gaming no longer affordable anymore. It is sad to think that the PS4 is my last game console. I'm going to build a gaming PC in the future when my video card is too outdated to play games anymore.
Base ps5 with 2 tbs of storage for years was 600 dollars and in a better gpu and boosted cpu it’s easy to see how they got to 700 they could have released a 1tb model for 600 if it had a disc drive
Not sure if it would matter some of my console friends are shy of pc cause of physical size of it and console is plug-n-play into your TV and its easer for them
I have to say that upscalers on consoles is not something new, even right now on base PS5 and Xbox Series FSR is being used on multiple games. Prior to FSR existence PS4 had checkerboarding and dev studios had their own upscalers like Insomniac's temporal injection. Pretty sure upscalers were also used during PS3 to bring games to 720/1080p, but all these console upscalers were and are software. What's new to PS5 Pro is custom dedicated hardware for PSSR which even Mark Cerny mentions in the presentation so similar to DLSS (we'll have to see how the quality is but DLSS got better over time too). Same goes for frame gen. Right now on base PS5 Black Myth Wukong uses frame gen on the performance mode. Other than that great video btw.
I have been a PC and console gamer for years now and putting a PC in my living room does not work, I have tried it twice. Also there are certain types of games like platformer's and FIFA that i do not want to play on my PC. For me at least i see them as two different animals, they have different vibes and should never be compared.
Getting a Radeon 8000 Series GPU budget next year which won't have a weakling CPU like the PS5 Pro. That's the problem with the PS4 Pro and upcoming PS5 Pro.

I wonder what ps6 is going to cost. Is it going to be like 800 usd because ps5 pro is already 700? And thats without disc drive mind you and keep in mind another reason some people prefer consoles over pcs is physical copies of games. With time they are getting less and less benefits over pcs. Back in the day consoles benefits over pc were: a lot of exclusive games, much cheaper, physical discs that you could just pop in to console and play straight away without needing to install or download anything. Now you have to install and patch games even when you have physical copies which are slowly going away even on consoles, there are barely any console exclusives anymore and now with the ps5 pro price it seems like the price of consoles will eventually be almost close to a price of a pc. So at this point I dont even see a point in console since they dont even have benefits over pcs they used to have anymore.
@@ErockOnTech Yeah well even then everything I said still stands. 700 is getting close to a price of a pc. Youll probably still pay slightly more for a pc with equivalent specs but if we factor in that you have to pay for playing games online and console games are typically more expensive that alone will even out the price in the long run.
The GPU is somewhere in between RDNA 3 and 4. It looks like a downclocked 7800xt. The PS5 Pro is supposedly a 32 teraflop console while the 7800XT is 37 teraflops.
I have a gaming rig and a ps5 slim. My rig has more than enough to play any game at 1440p or 4k and most of the time for games I use my base ps5 slim that works just fine :) I don't see a reason for the ps5 pro but to throw away money that I could use on games or eating at a fancy restaurant or take a well deserved vacation :) Sorry but Sony if your hearing me............ Why did you not make the ps5 pro $500 and drop the price of the slim and day one ps5 to $400???? That would have made alot more since!
One of the main benefits of PC - games. There are lots of them from different times, they run better, they scale into the future, they are moddable, they can be dirt cheap (I remember buying the first Deus Ex game less than 50 cents on sale and despite its age it's a great game), you don't have to pay for online, Steam is a goated service (ave Lord Gaben), you can multitask on PC, you have more controller options including all the power of mouse and keyboard... It's just good to be on PC. Don't forget that after buying your console you also have to spend money further on and I don't think an average Joe will be replaying one game over and over because he doesn't want to buy another one. PC is freedom and it's good.
So ive actually built my dads rig with a 3080 for 700+ which is a little faster than a 7700xt. So yes it actually can be done. 3080s are pretty cheap to find nowdays 🤷
One thing I've learned is that PC gaming looks more attractive from a price point. Consoles used to sell at a loss, i guess scalpers showed Sony that they'd still sell with a larger profit margin
Well we are assuming it is a rx 6800. But it’s not full a rx 6800. It is a custom GPU. So my guess is that it’s on par with a rx 6800 in terms of rasterization but it has extra ray tracing tech built into it. So once the GPUs drop that have the official tech this has, it’ll likely be $1,000.
I think the $700 is a joke lol Love my gaming PC I built this May, the Ryzen 7 7800x3d cpu with a Radeon RX 7900 GRE 16GB gpu is amazing! I own a PS5, PS4, PS3, and PS Vita too... but not gonna pay no $700 for a console. Sony is smoking crack if they think that's ever happening. lol
I saw that after I posted this video. I was confused by this interview. Digital foundry has another video on their DF clips channel saying the same thing I said which is a Rx 6800. It seems like they don’t really know either and they are trying to be diplomatic about it. It’s a custom GPU. So to be fair, unless you’re a Sony engineer, you’re not gonna know. It’s all educated guessing.
You also missed out on saying that console are easily moved around then a PC. Must people buy console because not to many wires to hook up. Plug n Play
You can't get the same level of performance for the price from a PC, unless you already have a decent PC and you only need to upgrade a few parts. Starting from scratch, there's no way you'll get compatible performance
I’m aware. I never said you could get the same performance for the same price. But with a PC you get a lot more for your money. Consoles keep you as a consumer. You just consume over and over again. A PC allows you to consume and produce. You can create with a PC.
@@ErockOnTech Computers are nice to have, absolutely. We have several at my house. I'm not limiting myself to waiting years to play games though. Its pretty clear they didnt want to make base PS5 look too bad in that presentation 😃 thats the big seller afterall and Sonys own games happen to be ones that already look great on base console. There will be many 3rd party games that will have huge improvements in image quality. Why didnt they mention PSSR applies to all existing games that are under 4k resolution i will never know . Anyways i have to say its not so black and white overall.. there is absolutely huge audience out there who will never want to or care to build a pc that cant be understated. Also as a "livingroom" box console is just so much more convinient than PC . I know you stated your mindset which is cool but there are soooo many people out there who only see their perspective and completely fail to understand not everyone thinks like them 😁
The reality is everyone's gaming needs are different. We have two builds with 4090's and a 4070 build if I want to play a game on PC I can. The reality is though I gaming is the priority for me and I don't limit myself. My top 5 games this year can not be played on PC & though they may come one day and the last one never will "legally" I'll pick up the pro to replace my current PS5 which I sold for $410 which is a great turn around for thousands of hours of gaming already. An continue to play those games on our 2nd PS5 which we will hand down to our nieces later once the pro comes out to replace both. I'm not waiting till an undisclosed time 18 months to 2 years to play games I'm looking forward to that I can play today. An honestly if anyone can I think it's pretty obvious they weren't really looking forward to the game in the first place. An that's fun but let's be honest that's the only way you are putting off something you could easily do today when tomorrow is not promised. It means it's not a priority and you don't really care at the end of the day.
I am just like you. I have a 4090 and I just refuse to play old games. If a game is available and I want to play it, I try to find a way to play it. Sony 1st party games have always been Day one purchases for me and I will not wait to play Gta 6. Others can wait while they play old games but that's just not me.
@@TheRealEnate GTA 6 is a game that moves the needle people can say that they can wait for PC release but once youtube videos and gameplay comes out the FOMO is going to be huge. Try holding out then. I'm not.
First off, still waiting on that robo vacuum review. Secondly, At this point it’s definitely worth a look for console players to consider a pc. I mean why not? You get all the games from every console outside of Nintendo. Plus you get to game at native settings if you want a better version of upscaling. All around pc is worth a look at that price range.
They already announced it's RDNA 3. They also said it'll run at a slower clock than the 7800xt. It'll be a nerfed 7800xt. Most likely 7700xt performance that trades blows with the 6800.
In my PC parts list towards the end of the video I listed a 7700 XT. Can you provide a link to the article confirming the things you just said? I’m working on a follow up video.
@@ErockOnTech It was a article from months ago. Claiming it was a half step to next gen RT. If I recall it called it RDNA 3.5. Also considering a 6800 over the 6700 it's nowhere near 2-3x RT performance. It would have to be 2nd gen RT cores (RDNA 3).

For me, gaming has to be 3 things: relatively easy barrier to entry, FUN, and cost effective relative to the amount of time I can afford to play. Like most people… I am busy. Depending on my schedule, sometimes I can't game at all for 2 - 3 weeks. Then, there are times when I have the opportunity to play for at least an hour a day, give or take for a week or two, before life pulls me away for another week or two… sometimes longer. I have tried to scratch my gaming itch via the gaming laptop route, but my gaming opportunities are too erratic for me to get into a rhythm with that platform. Is a midrange gaming PC "better" than a PS5 Pro in all the performance metrics by which they're judged? I 100% believe it is. But in my use case, would that midrange gaming PC provide a proportionally better experience relative to the time and money I need to achieve it? I don't think so.
Good analysis Erock. I think you pretty much nailed it. A lot of PlayStation titles have come to Steam already, but of the good ones are still missing, like the Team Ico titles, Demon's Souls and of course Bloodborne. In under a year Bloodborne will run glitch free, with texture packs, lighting mods, unlocked framerate and so on, in emulators on PC. Something the PS5 Pro will never do. So they should look into that 10 year anniversary PS5/PC port soon 😁 The PS5 Pro is a terrible mid-gen refresh. An extra $300 for a higher performance PS5 digital version minus the stand is awful value. But hey, not my problem, I would never buy a PlayStation anything. The PS5 Pro die will most likely have 60 RDNA4-ish CUs, but some will be disabled for yields, leaving 56 or 54 CUs for use. Now the PS5 Pro die will have most of the same cutbacks and limitations the PS5 die has; - It will be heavily power limited to 250 Watts for the whole system, not just the GPU portion. PC parts nuke consoles, including PS5 Pro. - The GPU will not have L3 cache just like regular PS5. The 576 GB/s bandwidth in the PS5 Pro will help a lot here, but native 4K? Mostly not. - The GPU will have a clock speed of 2.2 GHz, so even a future "RX 8700 XT" with 54 CUs will have L3 cache and over 800 MHz on the PS5 Pro. - The CPU will have a slight clock speed bump to 3.8 GHz, but it's still a cutdown and power limited laptop Zen2, so not that fast. - The CPU is also the reason for a lot of 30 FPS games in the future on consoles, including the PS5 Pro, game logic is a CPU task. - GPUs do no work without a CPU telling them what to do. Slow CPU = low framerates. - Upscaling algorithm PSSR to fill in pixels in fake frames is very AI, current year buzz word, much wow. So bored of glorified upscaling.
The big issue in the room is the 3700X is too slow for a RX 6800, the system is CPU bottleneck out of the box. It will do performance level fps at quality level visuals but, only just. It has no room for future game demands at all.
The PS5 Pro is only getting a GPU upgrade and not a CPU upgrade. Therefore, the existing CPU in the PS5 Pro will likely bottlebeck the new GPU. Additionally, they are already saying GTA 6 will run at 30 FPS due to a CPU bottleneck. I covered this in the video. The sources are in the video description. Lastly, I clearly said the PC Part Picker list was not perfect and did not match the PS5 Pro perfectly. The SSD in my list is also inferior to the PS5 Pro. But again, it shows you have options and it shows you can switch to PC gaming without paying $1000.
@@ErockOnTech You misunderstand, I agree with you. I am only putting emphasis on how egregious it is for Sony to release a product that has a very short future without the ability to upgrade as PC can. With a Micro Center near me I am sure I could build a better value PC than A PS5 Pro for about the same money. Their current 9600X bundle is only $349 for the CPU, 32GB RAM , and decent AM5 motherboard. Add in a used 6800 for $300, a $45 650W PSU, and $50 budget case and there you have it at about $850. Another $50 for a $350 used 6800XT and its a higher end mainstream gaming build with the most modern AMD hardware.
@@bodasactra Oh I see. Yes, you are correct. I completely misunderstood that previous comment. My apologies. Thank you for clarifying! Good recommendation on a build by the way.
GPU is based off a RX 7800 XT that's been downclocked, rasterization performance will probably be around RX 7700 XT but yeah, you're right, CPU bottleneck galore.
Will base ps5 have PSSR? I have a PC/PS4 Pro. If it does I’ll pick up a base PS5. But for $700 I’ll upgrade my PC’s dated CPU and buy a base PS5 if it has PSSR.
No, I can't match it's power. Sony created something that no one has ever seen before. That is why Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart could only ever be on the PlayStation. But somehow I have it 100% completed in my Steam library.

Lets say sony ended up putting an 7800 xt equivalent in the ps5 pro. The cpu is still gonna be the same won’t that cause bottleneck?
Bingo. You are correct 😊
it likely depends on title. the cpu that has good price to performance balance with a partner gpu will often be limited by the gpu, even at 1080p. if they have been keeping games capped at 30 and 60 fps, then it is unknown how limiting the cpu ever will be, since the utilization of all hardware will be lower. if for example the gpu is pegged at 100% then the cpu could be running at 60% utilization. by upgrading the gpu, the cpu would be able to stretch out a bit more, it may actually get pushed to 90%.

I did enjoy Doom 2 RTX though. Even though I already played it, but then again, that’s a free mod. lol
Now if this was a 600 dollar console, it would for sure be hard to beat.

This is very close if you factor in a disc drive, which consoles really do need for the used game market, (otherwise its only the sony store and thats it. They dont even really sell keys like that anymore there either :/) and one year of ps plus.
Haha I appreciate it! That is my policy! Honesty!

At the time AMD was having issues with their memory controllers being fried by bad BIOS firmware. Intel 14th gen was essentially the same as the very stable 13th gen. Things change fast in technology. The issues are resolved and I do enjoy my PC. But you do need to step up to about a 4070 or 7800xt for an appreciable difference besides frame rate. For purely gaming, people would upgrade to a ps5 pro for the same reason someone would upgrade to a gaming pc. Better gaming performance, that’s it. Game exclusives, software and additional hardware capabilities is more preference based. The real question is if you want better gaming performance, how much will you prioritize performance over costs
A ps5 pro with both accessories is $810.
No games you owned on console will transfer to pc, you will have to repurchase any game you’ve previously owned and only digitally
Assuming the ps5 pro actually offers better visual performance or higher fps in games.
Video games have always helped to sell hardware. Look at the OG Xbox and Halo.
I thought it was definitely worth the upgrade, but you’d be surprised how many people own a Quest and have no idea what the GPU or CPU is.
I use Radeon Chill more than anything on my 7800XT i love setting my fps max and minimum in that and it works well for a nice smooth game play.
That’s awesome!
Not even a bundle with any game (though there's a lack) or any PS plus trial just $700 for a locked down computer, PC gaming is still top tier
Adding 1 tb ssd is 80$ so maybe they should've made it 620 people would still complain 😂
The CPU is NOT a bottleneck, Jethro.
@@ByteMeCompletelyDigital foundry have seen cou bottlenecks in Multiple games this console generation. So you are wrong.
honestly the price is not that bad despite of what youtubers says, if you consider how much pc parts cost now. I think sony got tired of selling ps5 on a lost and now they want to break even.
This type of thinking will lead to a permanent price increase on consoles. The PS6 will be $699. Mark my words.

I agree. Well said!

Other than that great video btw.
also since you build pcs you could have given a sneak peak of pc components and the total cost.

PS6 will cost $699. The PS5 Pro is here to condition the market to get used to this price point.
@@ErockOnTech Yeah well even then everything I said still stands. 700 is getting close to a price of a pc.

Look at Digital Foundry's interview with IGN. They believe because of the advanced Ray tracing and DLSS upscaler. It's closer to a RTX 4070
I saw that after I posted this video. I was confused by this interview. Digital foundry has another video on their DF clips channel saying the same thing I said which is a Rx 6800.
@@TheSoxor123 Exactly, I always tell people if waiting and hoping for the day 18 months to 2 years later works for you by all means but not me 🤣
@@TheRealEnate GTA 6 is a game that moves the needle people can say that they can wait for PC release but once youtube videos and gameplay comes out the FOMO is going to be huge.
All around pc is worth a look at that price range.
lol on the robot vacuum. Yeah I agree. Thanks man!
The Radeon RX 6800 is about 16.17 teraflops. Based on what Sony said, I was expecting somewhere between 16 to 17 teraflops.
So overall you think it lines up?
@@ErockOnTech I think so.
@@ErockOnTech Hopefully it is RDNA 3.5.🤞
@@ErockOnTech Tried sharing techpowerup article saying it's RDNA 3 with RDNA 4 RT cores from a month ago. Link won't post in reply.
Article is "Sony PlayStation 5 Pro Sketch Surfaces".
Remember the pro is going to be replaced in 4 years with ps6 700$ no way
For me, gaming has to be 3 things: relatively easy barrier to entry, FUN, and cost effective relative to the amount of time I can afford to play.
So they should look into that 10 year anniversary PS5/PC port soon 😁
The PS5 Pro is a terrible mid-gen refresh. An extra $300 for a higher performance PS5 digital version minus the stand is awful value. But hey, not my problem, I would never buy a PlayStation anything.
The PS5 Pro die will most likely have 60 RDNA4-ish CUs, but some will be disabled for yields, leaving 56 or 54 CUs for use. Now the PS5 Pro die will have most of the same cutbacks and limitations the PS5 die has;
- It will be heavily power limited to 250 Watts for the whole system, not just the GPU portion.
But what about PS5 magic SSD that can cure cancer? Can you beat that erock?
No, I can't match it's power. Sony created something that no one has ever seen before. That is why Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart could only ever be on the PlayStation. But somehow I have it 100% completed in my Steam library.
Yes a PC is more expensive depending on the build you do BUT you save money from no yearly subscriptions and on MOST games not all but most!! It feels like it was at a balance but PC can do sooooo much more
I am getting it wish we got higher fps 144 or 165. Son has a gaming pc and I got his graphics card just that one part cost more than the ps5 pro. I am ok with the price.
I love my RTX 4070 🤤🤤
