Great Job Nathan! I'm watching and learning while I work on getting my own Merkur road worthy. It's awesome you take on all these improvements! Do you plan on stiffening the under body too? Any changes to the engine like the Volvo B234 cylinder head? What is the end goal for this car? Are trying to make the 1990's version (minus the airbags) with the upgrades it should've had?

To keep the struts from eventually making their way through the bonnet I suggest you fold a strap of metal to run down from each bolt hole down to the side of the strut mount and only do a small weld on the bottom of the strap. A large weld around something that's likely to flex a lot will fracture and rip out surprisingly fast.
I love that you painted over the paint code with the wrong colour paint. :D
