    Hey everyone, just had word the Korando is faster than I originally thought! For the 6-speed auto petrol, its 0-100km/h (0-62mph) is 10.84 seconds! No longer one of the slowest cars on the channel :D

    • @Viktor007
      @Viktor007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it the second slowest now?

    • @garminbreak

      Still very slow for 120 kW.
      For example - Renault Arkana is much faster with 103 kW engine and dual clutch transmission.

    I think Ssangyong are making some good looking cars these days! The Reston, Tivoli and this are good looking cars. Their old cars, not so. No-nonsense cars that are hugely reliable and have best warranty in the business, they definitely deserve to sell more. Why are you obsessed with revving the hell out of an SUV? 😂😂

    Just bought a 2023 Ultimate. I've only seen one other on the road since. People buying name brands and spending more for less. $29k for a 2023 Ultimate top of the range with 12k on it. First service done by dealer already as ex demo. Any issues obviously already ironed out. Brilliant car

    Most people will still say they prefer a German car even when its in bad state or 20 years old.Not because of higher quality but because someone told them Volkswagen (AKA Schmerzwagen)is a normal car and ssangyong is some "chinese car"(You know,because every country in Asia is China....).I own a Ssangyong and while its not great,it is really cheap and good.Good enough,at least.South Korean cars are world class,and ssangyong is probably the cheapest of them all.I like Japanese cars,but i think in few years South Korea will overtake Japan in automotive industry like they did with electronic gadgets (mainly because of Samsung and LG).

      I guessing your is an older series model if you are saying it's not great? I can't fault my diesel so far after two years and 30,000kms. Keeps up with everyone in every situation, even when towing. Maybe the diesel is the way to go.

    Thanks for a great review! I will pick up my Korando today, taking advantage of the Christmas run-out sale as well as an incredible trade-in offer (double that which I expected if I sold it privately). I was a little worried about buying the brand although people only offer 7 years warranty and road side service if they know they wont need it!

      @@habitangleft believe it or not it was a 2008 Kia Rio with 30,000kms. It was a well maintained car but low kms didn't mean much privately. The salesman got very excited but I don't think he did his homework!

    • @markgrovenor389
      @markgrovenor389 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ivancota9762 interestingly, I originally bought the base model petrol but I was so impressed I sold it privately less than 12 months later for a great price and I bought the top spec diesel AWD. I have since added a towbar for trailer and boat duties and it has not had a single problem although luggage space is smaller due to the full-size spare! My only concern is the internal issues with Ssangyong and the subsequent impact on resale values in Australia. Most people have never heard of the brand, and I don't think they are selling the Korando in Australia any longer.

    Matt. Apart from the lack of a dealer network, this SsangYong Korano is giving the 'usual suspects' a run for their money. Even though China's not overly cool at this moment on the diplomatic front, their cars remind me of the Japanese brands in the fiftes --- but fast forwarded to 2020. Having been all over China & seeing their MASSIVE traffic on road, one sees SsangYong as here to stay. The SUV is very attractive, fit for purpose, with your caveats on tail lights etc.... RAV4 is a Toyota and thus the major brand in Aussie.. So it's a case of 'ying & yang'. [from locked down Melbournian]

      Until they killed funding....and have almost killed the brand just when they were at a point when the international market was starting to catch on to the good products. Also, Ssangyong's design department probably had more to do with the good looks then Mahindra per say. Mahindra hasn't yet made a good looking car. Although I do think the new Thar is a good improvement and I'm hoping the new Scorpio is too. Mahindra just provided the dosh to Ssangyong. Its just a shame Mahindra deserted this brand. Ssangyong has so much potential. Hope they find another more responsible buyer who lives up to their committments.

      2. Fuel consunption 8.5L petrol on open road,10L city
      3. Automatic break, Vehicle departure and pedestrian warning are not functioning
      4. Windows has no option for auto down or up (except auto down for driver). You need to hold the finder on the button. Also, no option to close them remotely (my Lancer from 2010 had it)
      5. Model has no Intelegent/adaptive cruise control, althoug i paid for, it is in the contract. Promissed 100eur cash back :) The problem is i dont care for 100 eur, i wanted ICC. Answer from dealer is that they were not aware that only automatic gear model has ICC option, mine is manual transmision.
      Positive:
      1. Quiet engine, interior great insulation
      2. Comfortable, fast, reliable
      3. Trafic control signs, cruise control, speed limit, hill descent, auto stop, auto high beam lights, heaters on steering wheel and seats are great,
      4. Spacy, a lot of passinger and load space
      5. Stereo system is ok

    Seems a lovely car to drive and comfortable the same as my Tivoli but as a Ssangyong Tivoli elx 1.6d 4x4 owner never again will I buy one as I’ve had nothing but trouble with it since new. 20 times its was in the official Ssangyong garage in 18 months with faults, I stopped counting then as it’s been in so many more time’s. Intermitting recurring faults that they say they’ve fixed and it happens again and again then they say no faults found, The annoying bit is I have a £20,000 top of the range Tivoli that I can’t connect my iPhone to through the usb as it shuts the sat nav and touchscreen system down so no reversing camera working, radio or anything working when it crashes. My car will be 4 years old in November and still waiting for them to fix it. At 22,000 miles my car needed new front discs and pads costing £400 to be told at 26,000 from the same dealership that I need new front discs and pads soon less than 4000 miles traveled 🤷🏻‍♂️ and also back discs and pads costing £850. Total crap to be honest stay well clear

    Theres nothing wrong with modern day CVT s. They are way smoother at slow speeds and do well with simulating gear changes so you do not get that constant whine like with the old versions. Plus they are more economical and have less wear. In the end of the tay its a s SUV made for city driving or, running errans, commuting in the highway and for that you cant beat a modern day CVT.

      Sorry, I have to disagree. Strongly. They're also almost impossible to work on at a normal mechanics shop and many transmission shops won't touch them with a barge poll, they are simply not reliable in the long term thanks to the pulley design, they often are horrendously noisy because they suck at simulating gears, and are generally used because they are economical for companies.

    Another good review Matt. I’d have the RAV4 over this any day. I just can’t get my head around their ugly designs. This SUV is marginally better but still it’s a box with a large rump. And I personally could not drive a car where most cannot read or say the brand name properly.

    What about the rumors that say that Ssangyong i going into finacial troubles with its parent company Mahindra? I believe it is risky to buy a Ssangyong car nowadays having unknown company future.

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that's a good point. I'm not sure where you are Kareem, but under Australian Consumer Law you are covered by the promises that a company makes when they sell you a product. Having spoken to a SsangYong rep, they seem to be going very strong here with their sales and have long term plans in place. But if it goes, then you will still be covered by warranty, roadside assist and servicing (much like what Holden is putting in place here). Hope that helps!

Now that has failed (due to China's increased global aggression) HAAH will be taken over by Cardinal motors. Cardinal motors (US Owned) are believed to have made a bid for Ssangyong along with 8 other entities.

    Buying this car was and is the biggest mistake of my life.... fuel consumption is very poor on a 1.6 diesel. If anyone is thinking about buying this car should think 10 times before buying it. A full tank of fuel which is about £45 ,gets you up to 105 miles in town. Very poor fuel consumption. Don't get fooled by this fancy video..

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm sorry it's the biggest mistake of your life, but my fancy video is an review is completely independent of SsangYong. I wasn't testing that engine either, I was driving the 1.5L petrol which is a great little engine. So your complaints about fuel consumption don't apply here, sorry.

      @@CarSauce Good point...plus the choice of a diesel engine is rather silly if confined to a city. Diesels are better suited to highway driving and country settings not inner cities where the vehicles are unlikely to get above 80km/h.

      I have owned the diesel AWD for two years and I can confirm actual real-world results over 30,000kms is an overall average of 7.3litres/100kms with the worst being 10.4 and the best being 5.6. I am OCD with my cars and I track every tank of fuel in a spreadsheet. I try to use at least 3/4 before I refill, and I always fill to the top. So, my figures are very accurate over two years! I think your figures may not be 100% accurate or you are referring to an older superseded engine.
