    Hi Laravel Business, I have started my career in the freelance market place from the third world (Bangladesh) since 2014. I have done 63 five star rating so far.
    In the Cov-19 season, I got messages daily basis "Can you do that for me?". In this scenario, I am pretty much successful and I am very happy about it.
    My Secret is, The only number #5 rule that you discuss today, which was worked for me.
    Regards

      Of course you will get 5* rating for charging 50$ / project .
      This is by no means a rude comment. Maybe in bangladesh you get to live one month with 50$ so that totally makes sense. I'm not taking new projects for under 1000€ , but I still remember my first e-commerce that i did for 300€. Keep up the good work. Cheers

      It was kinda fun that that poor client hates PHP and MySQL LOL. Perhaps have had bad experiences with professionals so ended up blaming the technology.

      Ok let's "unpack" it and discuss. What have you tried to find freelance jobs? What clients have you pitched, how does your pitch look like, what answers are you getting? Can you show me how your online portfolio somewhere looks like? Any other difficulties because of culture or laws/payouts you're facing? Tell me more, I want to help you and others, at the same time.

      @@PovilasKorop Thanks for your reply Povilas. I learned Laravel not more than 6-7 months ago. And your videos helped me a lot. Right now I am working on a website called Fiverr. I got two jobs after a few months of trying and they are at a very low price. One of them is an e-commerce website and the other one is a social media website (mytocu.com, there are many bugs and I am trying to fix it) similar to Instagram. There are many clients out there who want to get the job done at a very low price. So many third world country freelancers bid on this type of job at a very low price to get the job. That's what I am currently doing right now to build my portfolio. But to get a high pay job clients don't trust us for some reason.

      Povilas Korop when did you understand that your skill is sufficient to apply for a serious job?

    • @PovilasKorop
      @PovilasKorop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @PovilasKorop
      @PovilasKorop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@47Lancelot No, I was committed to figuring out what I didn't know. And those first "risks" were for very small projects/budgets. At the very very beginning, I started with projects for online friends and local forums. I failed a few times, had to apologize and not receive the money. That's part of what clients get when they hire juniors for $100. It's their risk.

    Lithuania is former Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which was a better neighbor / lord of post-ruined Kyiv Rus (which is now my native Ukraine), than Russia (consider name as stolen, real name is just Duchy of Moscow) can ever be, and it remains same progressive country, fastest to reach EU membership in 90thies, so, not a 3rd world anymore

      Which platform is better for beginners, then?

    • @dgloria
      @dgloria 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PovilasKorop o hi, I didn't know you reply. Upwork needs lots of training to use lately. They have put a test on the website, I have achieved 20%, however I've been checking upwork for jobs since a decade at least. Very rude from a company who takes a nice percentage off of the anyways low payment, just for maintaining the site. At least they should provide a tutorial if they need special knowledge to use the site. Anyway the money they pay for these works doesn't worth it to wake up in the morning, any warehouse pays more on a hourly rate. But I'm probably wrong. Which was interesting, they never replied to my messafes or application. As I said maybe it's just me.

    • @dgloria
      @dgloria 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ah to reply to you, if I knew, I wouldn't work in a factory instead of coding at home. :D

    • @PovilasKorop
      @PovilasKorop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dgloria well, there's a lot I can comment on this, but generally yes, it's that hard from the beginning, as in any other job that requires skills - at first, you have to prove it, especially when you're "fighting" against hundreds of other candidates (that's the idea behind this video).
      1. So if you are checking for jobs for a decade and haven't found anything reasonable, then yes, "maybe it's just me" is probably true.
      2. Warehouse pays more - true, in the beginning. But warehouse maximum salary is pretty limited, and if you grow your development portfolio, then your hourly rate may be almost unlimited.
      For everything else, seems that you're having trouble with either your pitch message to get work, or maybe your skills are not that good, or maybe you're applying to the wrong jobs, hard to say. But if Upwork would be THAT bad as you describe, then no one would take any jobs from there. Meanwhile thousands of developers work there successfully, somehow.
