FILM SYNOPSIS♡
Hardworking and ambitious, Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) dreams of one day opening the finest restaurant in New Orleans. Her dream takes a slight detour when she meets Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), who has been turned into an amphibian by evil Dr. Facilier. Mistaking her for a princess and hoping to break the spell, Naveen plants a kiss on poor Tiana -- thereby turning her into a frog as well. The pair hop along on an adventure through the bayous to seek the help of a powerful voodoo priestess.

Quick little theory about Ray and his Star Evangeline...
She actually was a firefly who died when they were younger and Ray kept his love alive until he passed and joined her. This is slightly collaborated by Timon and Pumba when they're talking about the stars. Timon literally says;

For some weird reason one of my favourite parts of 'Friends on the Other Side' (and there were a lot of good things there) was the voodoo dolls drumming with their needles.
Fun fact: The reason why Dr.Facilier looks like Bobby is because the creator of the show was the lead animator on him. Pretty sure he designed him too.
His look is very much based off of the Vodou lwa, Baron Samedi, who's often depicted in fancy clothes and a skull mask.

As a Louisiananian, I appreciate Disney's attempt to show our culture and I really only have one huge problem with the movie. Voodoo isn't a wicked practice, it's actually used much more for healing than harming. But I do appreciate that they use Mama Oddy to show the good side of Voodoo. Btw, you look gorgeous.

My biggest gripe with Princess and the Frog is taking its two poc leads and turning them into frogs for most of the runtime 😅

I don't mind that they turned into frogs for most of the movie because it follows the storyline. And we get a good backstory on them in the beginning and see them getting married and running the restaurant at the end.

Tiana's looks were really on point, and she actually has more costume/dress changes than any other Disney princess.
There are some really cool Disney easter eggs and references here that you might have missed.
In the opening, one of the New Orleans residents is shaking out the magic carpet from Aladdin.
Mama Odie throws out a seashell from The Little Mermaid and the magic lamp from Aladdin during her song, and you can see King Triton, Ariel's father, as one of the floats in the parade.

27:57 And the complete opposite of the servant character in the original Frog Prince story - who binds three metal bars around his heart (either literally or just around his chest, was never sure about that) when his master is enchanted and trapped as a frog and then the bars break when the prince is freed out of his heart breaking for joy from his masters freedom.
This was before the cure for the frog curse was a kiss from a princess (either a specific princess or any princess) and was just specifically that this one particular princess could break it with no specifics as to how she'd do that, so instead she got mad when he asked to sleep on her pillow and she threw him to the wall - the frog hit the wall and the prince hit the floor. And in spite of that rocky start to their relationship they managed to work it out and still got married at the end.
Still from what I remember the point in both versions of the story was the same - a promise is a promise, and in both cases she promised to let him sit by her side if he got her golden ball out of the pond, so she has to stick by it.
The princess and the frog is my number 1 favourite movie of all time from start to finish it's just phenomenal . Songs 10/10 characters 10/10 artstyle and animation 10/10 storyarc 10/10.
I love this film, but what annoyed the hell outta me was that the main characters were frogs for the majority of the movie rather than humans, whereas this has never or rarely occurred in other disney movies

I loved this movie so much, it was so sweet and the friendship between charlotte and tiana is just so sweet we love the sweet and kind pampered princess character type. Then Tiana is just such an inspiration. Mulan will forever have my heart and soul but Tiana is 100% second on my list of disney movies.

Tiana's ambition and drive makes her one of my favorite Disney Princesses, her only real competition for the top spot is MuLan. It gives her a very distinct personality in the line up. I honestly liked the movie as a whole better than Frozen. Sure Frozen had fantastic music, but in terms of plot and characters I thought the story was just Okay.

The directors Ron Clements and John Musker makes animated cameos in most of their movies (only exception The Little Mermaid) and this movie they make two cameos: 1. The Ferner Bros. when they get splattered by the cake. 2. Two of the Mardi Gras men on the float, tossing beads (the tall, skinny with white hair and moustasche and the shorter, plumper guy with red beard and hair).

Randy Newman, the guy who composed music and songs for the early Pixar movies such as Toy Story, Cars 1 and 3, Monsters, Inc. and University and did the music and songs for this movie, was suppoused as the turtle in the song When We're Human, and was gonna question Tiana, Naveen and Louis's motivations, asking "Are you sure?" but it didn't fit right so that voice cameo was cut and instead he voiced Cousin Randy (the overweight firefly right before Ray sings Going Down the Boyuo).

When one of my favorite shows, Amphibia, not only brought in Keith David for season 2-3, but Anika Noni Rose for season 3, I screamed, especially because it's a cartoon with FROGS! My all time favorite princess and villain/one of the voices of my early childhood in one of my favorite shows!!! Keith plays the king of Amphibia who is kinda the bad guy who "has friends on the other side" and Anika plays a history museum curator who is passionate about her museum and research. They automatically became my top favorite characters.
