    Thanks MrPete,
Better than a book. Do you realize that you are now the "old machinist" that's teaching us? :-)

It is much easier to understand how to grind these tools with your detailed instructions and use of models as compared to to what is in the Atlas manual. Curious though on the wood for the models the way you easily move them has me thinking is it balsa?

well Pete, I often refer back to your videos and they help me when I need to make parts for my old boats and engines I'm long retired,(not dead) and couldn't keep these old tubs running without your help and two South Bends 9 inchers,a ,two drill presses, and an old Burke Horrizontal mill.a mechanical hacksaw and a strong tailwind. Many thank's,Norm

Thanks! I learned this in 7th grade metal shop, and haven't used it since.... so when I got my Atlas lathe I was in need of this info. Nice job, you are a great teacher!

    Hi Tubalcain
I love your work. Thanks so much for the help. I am just beginning and find your videos extremely helpful.
Can you do a video on setting up the lathe (i have a small hobby lathe) to do some basic tasks like skimming the side of some bar, parting off etc with a focus on tool setup.
    kind regards
    max

Thank you. Now that I know why the angles need to be what they are, maybe I can remember how to do it.

I'm just getting started with this skill. I purchased at auction a south bend 10k. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS AND ALL VIDEOS YOU POST!! I have a question about the universal tool. Why is the side rake sloped to the left when the tool can be used in either direction. Thank you!

After watching the 1st vid i had a go and it works well. I usually use indexable inserts so most of this is pretty alien to me. But you just carn't make a custom grind we out using hss tool steel. Thanks for your wisdom. Is this the same Tubal Cain who has written in 'model engineer' magazine.
