I bought a 400 dollar MacBook turned out it was a 2011 version of the MacBook Air and is trash I can’t get my money back anymore and I’m stuck with it I don’t know enough about it but I was wondering if I could take it apart and make a Pc with parts with it
@@konafire134 if it's slow n trash , it'll stay same if you make it a PC like in the video . Just upgrade it with some SSD n RAM (also battery if you can) and use it as a laptop. Don't forget Cleaning the fans , reapplying thermal paste and removing the Optical drive ( if you don't want em).
I work with those apple on the regular. That battery swelling with the tracking pad basically exploding is very common. You guys lucked out and didn't come across the old fuse blow it basically makes the cooling fans decorations.

So a setup like that is possible for very cheap, specially if you live in the US. You can get a laptop with a smashed screen for cheap, get a second hand monitor from eBay or Craiglist, and get some cheap second hand peripherals or a cheap brand new keyboard and mouse combo. You will essentially end up with a decently performing (depending on laptop specs) all-in-one style computer. Great for basic tasks and for school work.

We've all seen what can be done with a Samsung Dex cord connected to both a Samsung phone and a good enough monitor for the display. So, the same thing can apply for an old laptop computer. This is great when it's done right. Both, the Apple setup and the Dell setup, are good
That macbook is an 8,2 or A1286 model, those macs had severe graphics problems where the GPU gets so hot it literally desolders itself from the logic board. This means that for any longevity the graphics unit must be switched to intergrated using an app called GFX card Status. Unfortunately this disables the thunderbolt port. there is no way that mac will last more than 6 months like that MAX. If that wasnt bad enough those cinema displays are known to have backlight faults, especially when the USB's are in use. DO NOT DO THIS
Hey Austin, I have a little project idea for you: Take an old MacBook and put in modern hardware from a modern MacBook so it seems to be a sleeper macbook (sleeper like the car term).
@austinevens you should've put the Dell into the Mac shell....you could carry around a "Mac" so you can fit in with the hipsters, all while getting the better OS with Windows
I was expecting more of a remove motherboard from chassis and put it into a 3d printed enclosure on the backside of the monitor or maybe build into the base of the monitor...like making it into an all-in-one. Rather than just connect a monitor and keyboard with small upgrades.
You should take on of those THICC 25 year laptops and fit everything good you can in it. Basically make the ultimate sleeper laptop
