I'm a German historian by education, I did undergraduate and graduate work in Berlin, and I love the idea of this game. Fascinating history. I'll have to look into this one. Thanks for the vid,, Joel!
Really good overall view of the game, Joel. You're getting evermore better at these. Sivel and Sylvester! These guys have designed two of my absolute favorite games in *Maria* and *King of Siam*. There's elegance and some serious game design insight into both of these games so I've got to check out *Wir Sind*... And you HAVEN'T played *Maria*? For shame. Best 3 player game I own. Much like *Wir Sind*, it takes a bit of a commitment, but the results are so worth it.
I want to get the COIN series, specifically Andean Abyss and Fire in the Lake, but I think the socio-political focused CDGs are more likely to get played. Thematically I like 1989 > Twilight Struggle because of its narrower scope. It's cool there's another game in the style without being of direct lineage.
I bought a copy 4 years ago and none of my friends want to play it. The manual doesn't help to understand the game, it's far too confusing. That's probably the reason why we don't see many people playing this game. The game is probably good, but doesn't worth the effort that's necessary to learn and to teach it. Thank you for this video.
@@DriveThruReview Hi Joel, do you understand system dynamics? I applied system dynamics to create maps that should help people to understand how different actions can help (or not) to play and to win the game. If you know system dynamics and if you are interested, I would like to send these 2 maps to you by email.
Tha game is completely bilingual German-English. You can see this and order the game and its expansion, directly on the website of the publisher. www.histogame.de/e_wir.sind.das.volk.html
The new rules are available here boardgamegeek.com/thread/1509731/rules-changes-version-20-online-now and here www.histogame.de/WSDV/Wir.sind.das.Volk.Rules.pdf

Wir Sind Das Volk! Review th-cam.com/video/dRuTctaEkt4/w-d-xo.html
How many cards are there in total in this game? Is it similar to 1989 / TS?
Sham this hasn't published in English
I think by now it's been published in English? I'd guess around 100 cards? Would be a good question for the BoardGameGeek.com page.

Thanks for a good review, seems like an interesting game.
South of Poland it's the Czech Republic, not the Soviets ;)
Fabian Neumann Yep. Somehow I mixed CCCP and USSR :)
@@DriveThruReview You still mix it up since CCCP is the soviet translation of USSR. ;) What you mean is CSSR
And it is actually Czechoslovakia, not Czech republic itself!
Excellent review of an excellent game.

+Rinaldo De Lucca Thanks for posting. I wasn't aware of the issue described. Good to know!
