  • This rare film shows the US launch of the new Ford V8, which enabled Henry Ford to restart production at the River Rouge plant after a period of shutdown due to The Depression.
    The film shows road tests, the assembly line and the full V8 range - all given personal approval of Henry Ford and his son Edsel.
    Interestingly the end credit shows that Ford supported the National Recovery Administration (NRA) although Henry Ford staunchly resisted signing up to the scheme.

    I just love how they drive the hell out of those old Fords on the dirt test track sliding around and going over those huge bumps along the way. That was some "quality" testing back then LOL

    I googled "how fast does a 1934 ford go? And it told me 65 and that's with the 85 hp engine. You can't believe everything you read online lol.

    Look at the snow piled up in the closing scenes! I'd hate to be the poor saps chosen to drive the roadster on that bleak winter's day.
