    Great vid, helped me out a lot today! Took me 4 hours to do just the drivers side but I work slow. Probably would get the passengers side done in 3 now that I’ve done 1 side I ordered new OEM bolts, came with the grommets already attached.

    I'm in the middle of this same project... unfortunately, two of my bottom/back driver side valve cover bolts snapped while trying to remove them. Trying to figure out how to get them out now. Thanks for the video! Glad yours went smoother than mine!

    Hey bro I’m having a tough time putting in the rubber grommets.

    • @OverlandRay
      @OverlandRay  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just slipped it in like a washer. You can try spinning it in if it’s too tight.

    • @arrow_head24

      I’m talking about the spark plug oil seals. I figured it out. The inside of the oil seal is a metal sleeve. I found out because I ripped one of the newer seals trying to force it into place. Thank you bro. I’m surprised you even responded!

    Question, which RTV were you using? Does it matter? Do I need hi-temp? Or anything particular? I know some obbsess over Toyota OEM

      I should add, why does the part number for the washer seals on lexusparts say it doesnt fit my vehicle?? weird.

    • @OverlandRay
      @OverlandRay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used Permatex Ultra Grey. Lots of people use Permatux Ultra Black because it has a higher oil resistance but the ultra grey should do the job. So far it's holding up well no leaksall.
      Weird, the parts that I used worked perfectly on my GX, I think these are from Toyota so the part number is different. I know Lexus & Toyota have different part numbers for the same product on certain parts.

    • @OverlandRay
      @OverlandRay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markpfeifer1402 The dealer always has the most outrageous prices. I'd take it to a trusted mechanic if you don't have the tools to do it yourself. If you're in the SoCal area, I'd recommend Miyaki Motorsport. Pretty much takes care of most of the GX in Socal.

      Who cares. Working on cars requires a you to improvise.some times you just gotta use whatever tools you have available to get the job done. Doesn’t matter if it’s the conventional way or not
