Absolutely incredible. You know, it's easy to get caught up in the moment - During the production of the Double Life series it had a lot of people saying things like "I don't like this as much as Third life or Last Life" It can make me feel like the series idea has maybe run its course. But when I see work like this and the unique story that each "Life" series has and the legacy it leaves it reminds me that they are worth making. Each animated frame is full of emotion - and more importantly it hits home because its accurate to how we feel when recording. Thank you for making this, it's really special and sums up the mark I want each life series to leave on the viewers.
The "Life" series should not end, I am always looking forward to that day of the week to watch yet another episode. It's truly amazing and I'm very thankful for all the work that goes into these projects.
honestly i love the life series so much and even if you run out of ideas to make it more unique than the last id love to see a rerun of the original 3rd life’s rules, what makes each episode unique is the interactions and the personas/characters portrayed between friends technically just being goofy and having fun. its great and fantastic
I loved this animation dearly, it summarizes Double Life as a whole, and shows emotion and character on it. I see that this has a lot of effort put onto it. This amazed me, and I agree with the people above me, this series should never end, it feels unique each season, from the chaos brought onto the Life series to the dramatic events happening as well.
For as long as you enjoy making Life seasons, there's going to be thousands and thousands of people who will hype them up and wait for each new episode with bated breath. I know I'll be one of them. The Life series is probably my absolute favourite Minecraft SMP to date, and each new twist brings a new dynamic to the concept. Maybe some people will prefer one twist over another, but that doesn't make the other twists any less exciting. The sheer amount of amazing fanart and animatics each season confirms it (and this animatic is 1000% AMAZING, brings out all those feelings from watching the series from the different perspectives!!!)
I think Tango and Jimmy's relationship was the healthiest of all. They didn't have any "secret soulmates" or trying to break others up. They were simply there for each other from the moment they realized they were linked. When they met back up in the Hermitcraft/Empires crossover, through the magic of LORE, you can see how much their bond meant when they excitedly greeted each other. My favorite part. 😄
Tango & Skizz invited Jimmy to play Plate-up! The Ranchers was brought up again, and in their second Stream, at one point Tango nonchalantly named their pizza restaurant Ranchers Pizza! It made me smile!!! They are still my fave Life series Duo! 5am Pearl has her very own special place in my heart as well!
Ranchers Duo was my favorite too. The ranch being burnt down, the warden killed from the fishing boys, it was all sad, especially the fact of Tango's ending, if you look at it from his POV. The references always come back too me.
The shot of Pearl covered in frost and snow, with the frost creeping on to Scott as she caresses him, absolute gold. I can't think of any better,more haunting way of portraying that.
Oh I always thought that that’s why he did it in grief I never thought about him forgiving her I thought it was because he wanted to be with Cleo in the afterlife rather than be with his true soul bound dooming both him and Pearl to death
I like imagining, specifically in the most “pearl is terrifying” interpretations, that Scott blows himself up to keep Pearl from escaping. Sort of “this ends here, and I’m taking you with me!”
@@Portrait-lp3hsLike he died because the warden's shriek was so powerful that it broke ribs or something, which (it gets _very_ graphic from here, don't continue if you can't handle gorey "visuals") led to fragments puncturing organs, internal bleeding, collapsed lungs and similar stuff, or just stopped his heart entirely (like jolted it so badly that it couldn't keep up). Also, another creepy thing I like to think may have happened, is you know how eyes are super soft and squishy? Yeah, the sudden pressure would probably make those go *pop,* to put it simply, after the first shriek (it took two to kill Grian, remember that). I can see Scar just suddenly going blind and basically losing his hearing, hence why he fell off the horse, before he dies.
I agree... and. "I'm not crying, *dabs eyes* I just have something in my eye is all." It all hit hard, but from then on, after watching it for the 4th time, it hit the hardest. full on punch to the gut, knot in your throat feeling, on the verge of tears. And I rarely feel that.
I don't think I've ever seen someone do an animatic where Scott has Cleo in his arms while she dies, which I think is an amazing way to show the bond they shared and the sadness scott feels that his best friend throughout the series is now gone. The fact that the TNT from scott is turned from an act of surrender into more of an act of revenge and grief really hit home with me. Awesome job as always!

@@EverenArt Your interpretation of the ending doesn't technically quite hold up with most of what actually happened (when you look objectively at stuff like wording and location) but I can see how you got it and I would not have it any other way, you literally always make these perfect what is a wrong with artistic license? And who knows, I might have some bias and you are right but my mind is making me think my interpretation is logical
Pearl's *excellent* villain arc is a parable of how unjust treatment turns us toward darkness. I think it's often overlooked how Scott acted too harshly toward Pearl in spite of her attempts to explain herself by the end of episode one. Several times throughout this series, Pearl attempted to forge bonds anew, but was rebuffed at each turn. I became so attached to her perspective and rooted for her until the end. This particular video spins a satisfying tale of Scott going out due to grief, but I think the series benefited from Scott acknowledging Pearl at the end.
4:10 i like how you portrayed Grian caught up with the carnage, but when he realised what he had done, it was too late. The part where Bigb forgave Grian while he was crying at Bigb's grave was also well detailed
I think looking back grain should have dropped a dirpstone when Joel and etho came in and grain scar will team up with bigb and it would be hard for ren be he agrees and when grain dies bigb does a peral and killing buds and impose and they die too scott

Etho killing Scar with a fishing rod in last life in Etho’s eyes. (It’s only there for a couple frames so easy to miss) 4:08. Jimmy falling to his death at the hands of Grian in Last Life.

Everything about this is incredible I want to cry every time I see it. Something I don’t see people mentioning though is 2:50 where Etho is clearly not quite over Last Life and asks Bdubs multiple times “is it a happy marriage?“ But his yearning doesn’t reach Bdubs who’s caught up in his new lovey dovey couple with Impulse. It’s subtle in the series, but I’m glad you included it and it breaks my heart if I think about it too much.
I have a few things to address. 1) I love your new depictions of the Lifers. You have improved a lot. 2) Etho and Joel boating down with Happiness is pure gold! 3) The callbacks to previous seasons. Grian and Scar's connection reminiscing back to 3rd Life, Etho's eyes flashing back to his Scar kill from Last Life, Martyn flashing back to Ren's kill, All look amazing! 4) The soul strings tying around Grian, Cleo and Scott's necks showing their reluctant soulbonds, but BigB still holding it in his hand, meaning he is still faithful to Ren's bond, Etho's attempted soulbond towards BDubs being rejected by him as he bonds with Impulse. Also, I am in love with the silhouette drawings. They look so cool! 5) What hits home is how the type of bond is represented by the way the strings are tied. The happiest ones having the heart at their chests, the ones holding on to them with the heart in their hands, and the unwilling ones being strangled by them! 6) That shot of Pearl on a horse, standing with her Dogs is purely awesome! 7) Pearl taunting Scott by damaging herself. 8) I love that you showed Jimmy's enderman death and Grian's sonic boom death, and then showed both Scar and Tango fallen down in a single frame! For me, that frame of them dying out of nowhere is the best, especially with the music. 9) Etho and Joel holding Hands in their dying breath! Made me nearly shed a tear. 10) Impulse holding out his hand for BDubs with his dying breath. 11) And lastly, I love your interpretation of Scott's death. To me, the alliance they formed in the end against other Reds was purely to survive, and in reality, they still had the hatred for each other, so it did not make sense for Scott to give Pearl the win, "because she deserves it." You encompassed my true interpretation: Scott bonded with Cleo, and so Cleo's death was also Scott's death in Scott's eyes. He would rather die with his friend, than win something he wished to win with them, alone. TLDR- This animatic is amazing! I have watched it a couple times already! Good job, Everen. You always make the best animatics on these series. I don't regret having found your channel since Last Life!
Only issue I have with 11) is that iirc, Cleo and Martin turned on Scott after Pearl killed Bdubs, but he got away and they went looking for Pearl. So, it would be more fitting to consider his heartbreak over Cleo's betrayal rather than her death. He was fully aware they attacked Pearl first.
One year later and I still cry with this video. The animation, the song, the imagery, the expressions on people's faces, everything about this video is magical and I'm so glad to be alive to experience it, kudos 👏❤️
I don’t even know where to begin, this whole thing is absolutely gorgeous! I love the expressions and the usage of imagery from past series (like the flashing to briefly show Third Life Scar and Grian and the scene of Martyn staring down at the body of the red king when Ren falls dead beside him). And the scene of the strings connecting soul bonds? Seeing the strings tied around the necks of the unwitting soul bonds? Can’t say enough how much I adore that. Then again I adore this whole thing. Found myself getting emotional at various parts, especially the ending. Perfectly encapsulates Double Life in a beautiful way! :D
With the strings as well I noticed that most people who had string on their finger had their hand by their side but Pearl almost seemed to be trying to put it next to her heart. Amazing detail whether intentional or not
4:21 im not sure if anyone mentioned this, but tbh if you really think about grian's death in double life, it sounds absolutely terrifying. Getting hit by the sonic blast of a blind monster underground while struggling to escape back to the surface by crawling up out of a narrow tunnel. I feel like it was so well portrayed in this, and really all of the animatic was just so beautiful and chilling
I love how you captured Joel’s insanity and how at 4:49 etho and Joel are dyeing together yet are so strong and them going down a waterfall in a boat is such a nice touch
You have an insane knack for presenting stories through animatic form, especially when it comes to showing all the little bits and interwoven details. Just. WOW. This awoke some powerful feelings in me, and the creative choices just make it hit harder. The purple string being used to represent chosen soulbounds is an INCREDIBLE idea, and that moment where you showed all the duos silhouetted with their bonds visible, Etho reaching out to Bdubs but getting cut off, Grian and Bigb making their bond with Scar and Ren looking over at them, and then Scott and Cleo creating their own willingly (and then couple those with Grian, Cleo, and Scott's actual soulbonds being wrapped around their necks like it's choking them, while Bigb's soulbond with Ren is sitting in his hand like he's still holding onto it). There's so much here that I absolutely love, oh my god, I cannot stress enough how wonderful your animatics are

The part where Pearl walks away from Scott, Cleo and Martyn is not talked about and its a travesty. Its so cold seeing her go and rid Scot of everything and everyone he holds dear. Also the final where scots tnt goes of is so tuching im now watching his and soon Cleo's perspectives of the series i thought was the least of the life series... Its really gut wrenching and just wow. Also loveing how tango's deal with god is literally with the devil himself.
That shot is depressing. I know it didn't happen this way in the actual series, but from the animatic, I would imagine it like; -Scar and Tango very close by, just chilling together. -Timmy and Grian off on their own adventures, seperate from their soulbounds and each other. -Scar and Tango fall to their death as Timmy and Grian die simultaneously

the fucking reflection in etho’s eyes changing from grian and joel to himself and scar-when i tell you i lost my fucking mind i MEAN it i had to pause and calm my breathing for a second before continuing. this is so good it makes me want to fight god.
It’s incredible that this artist can put so much emotion into the art. In the real series, no one was really too disappointed if they died, there was an “oh no!” or something along the lines of that, but nothing too big. But in the art…. Wow. Every time someone was dying, you could see horror in their face, tears in their eyes. This is truely amazing, keep up the good work!

I AM IN PAIN! The callbacks, the visualization of the soul ties, the depiction of Scott's grief over losing Cleo and him holding her as he took himself and Pearl out. You are probably one of the greatest artists I've ever seen on youtube Showing how cleo, martain, and grian have their strings tied around their necks shows they're kinda like leashes and are holding them back from who they really want The way you did jimmys and grians death somehow made them both less anticlimatic and more sad and beautiful The purple strings breaking once grian accidentally killed Bigb is extremely powerful And I do really love how scott killed himself acter losing cleo, those 2 were definitely my favorite of the season This was a very talented display of art and I think you are a amazing storyteller just with visuals EDIT: also! Tangos head being on fire when he was enraged was amazing i loved that detail

My favorite part was the frames around the 3 minute mark. The silhouettes and heart bonds perfectly capture the entiretly of this series' relationships. Also, I have no idea how you do it but the flames and otherwise glowing things look soooooo cool.
The story, the art, the details, the music... AMAZING. What a perfect tribute to a wonderful series. Thank you, Everen, for making this. Your work has made me feel all the emotions I felt while watching again, tenfold, along with how the Lifers must have felt in the moments you captured, and really makes everything so much more memorable. I still can't get over how beautiful and expressive some of these shots are. Literally came back a few hours after first watching just to comment (I rarely ever comment) because I couldn't get them out of my head. I really love how Tango, Scott, and Cleo are drawn in this. They just look so magical, from Tango's flaming hair (conveying his "anger issues" LOL, that's awesome), to Scott being some sort of fairy or elf, with glowing particles floating about his hair--I love that interpretation of his MC skin. And I always look forward to seeing how Cleo is drawn since I find her skin so gorgeous on its own--and here she looks like an undead princess. My favorites scenes: 0:55 Tango being flung by the explosion that killed him and Timmy, leading them to meet up at spawn. The transition from Tango falling to Timmy being helped up is so, so clever. 1:09 The Boat Boys doing what they do best. Just so full of exhilaration and joy (with a touch of terror hehe), really encapsulating their chaotic energy. 1:27 The epic scene with everyone in perfect sync with the music gave me chills... AND THEN AGAIN when I realized the background was a warden behind them! 1:42 Scarlet Pearl tragically unhinged and covered in frost, breathing cold air, is just perfectly unsettling as she taunts Scott and him repulsed, close yet not, just like how in the series Pearl kept reminding Scott who he was truly bound to, against his will. 1:55 Tango's rage is palpable here. I love how his hair goes up in flames like a demon as Timmy keeps him from utterly losing it. The way you render light and embers and fire looks so dreamy. 2:34 TER-RI-FY-ING. In every sense of the word. Pearl seems so unknowable, cold, and merciless---this must be how the other Lifers felt around her. 2:46 Love this callback to the fall of RentheKing, and really nice syncing with the drum beats. 2:51 to 3:28. SO much going on and SO much to say. Somehow you managed to depict everyone's relationship status and drama in one shot. All the good relationships close to each other, hearts at the heart for the true, heart-lines in the hand for the wanting/unwanted, but strangling at the throats of those who rejected their Soulmates. 3:45 I mayyy have laughed a little here remembering how Impulse died and was lying on the ground in-game (and Grian's laugh) in Pearl's perspective despite how tragic this scene is. 3:51 LOVE reflections in eyes. And lol Joel's red-life feralness is really captured here. 4:01 Really beautiful shot of Jimmy, with awesome perspective and foreshortening. And the lighting! I gasped on my first watch at how beautiful and mesmerizing the flames were. Plus awesome editing on the transition from yellow Jimmy to red. 4:20 Seeing Jimmy and Grian die the way you drew them hurt in a way that watching the gameplay hadn't. And then Tango and Scar falling dead together, apart from their Soulmates, further amplified that tragedy. 4:38 is just so pretty. Again the dreamy lighting, and Scott's look of intense focus with his glowing golden hair and eyes beautifully contrasting with the blue of the dim corridor. The four divorcees hiding in the deep dark for their lives and even then Pearl and Martyn are excluded from the bond that Scott and Cleo share---and it shows. Pearl turns, and leaves, her rejection written in the stone around them. 4:50 Joel and Etho dying such a tragic death, going bravely up in flames side by side. Together in their final moments, a pure Relationship, no more longing for a different partner complicating it. You depicted this scene so soulfully. 4:56 So brutal, the way Impulse and BDubs fell in battle together to the scorned Soulmate. But even death cannot split their happy marriage. And then Cleo, the object of envy of the Pearl, the one who has her Soulmate's heart. Pearl is bent on destroying all that she couldn't have for herself---a true bond with another person. So washing her sword and the world in red, in the end she still cannot win. In a final act of grief and revenge, Scott destroys himself, and with him the Scarlet Pearl. Thus concludes an amazing series.
The parallel between Etho killing Scar with the fishing rod in Last Life and Grian killing Joel with it in Double Life was amazing. Both Etho and Grian killed the other's soulmate/future soulmate which just added to the utter brilliance of connecting those two scenes. This is such an amazing animatic and it really captured how the whole thing felt. I also loved how unlike others, you depicted Scott killing himself almost out of spite, because of Cleo's death whereas other animators depict him forgiving Pearl and letting her win. This was beautifully drawn and I really look forward to seeing what you do next!
3:51 The part in Etho's eyes where it showed him and Scar from last life just grabbed my attention as it replaced Grian and Joel. The fact how it like connected. 4:25 Seeing Tango and Scar just killed me
I rewatch this at least once a week and I love noticing everything I can, the way the strings are choking those who don’t want to be in that relationship, the fact that the line ‘with no closure’ is going over Tango and Scar lying dead on the forest floor not knowing what happened to their soulbound and not being able to talk about it. Plus so many more details! Your work is absolutely incredible and I hope you know that 💕
The deal with god then showing Tango and Cleo’s fall was masterful. The grief from Scott over Cleo at the end reflects how she refused to hurt Scott with Martin. Literally brought me to tears. The fishing pole turned on Etho (who used it on Scar in Last Life) was a part I didn’t realize in the series until this animatic.
i love how differently everyone interprets scott tnt-ing him self at the end, this was amazing! ur art style is so gorgeous i love it, and the scenes are so well done, 4:03 with Jimmy blowing up the flames in the backround, and the lighting in general. 2:26 with the flowers falling out of Cleo's hair and Martins facial expression shows so much emotion. 3:51 the scene reflecting in Etho's eyes as well as the expression of him realizing what is happening. and at 1:30 the way u made the enchanter's light look so cool on their faces, and the face of the warden looming behind them! 4:16 the light coming from big-b's ghost reflecting onto grian! JUST WOW

Love this, every little bit abt it, like everything else you've ever created :) Edit: I love how Grian, Scott and Cleo's soulmate string is around their neck instead of finger, indicating they don't want to be partnered with their soulmate. Another thing is Etho and Bdubs inevitable relationship string, and the flashbacks to 3rd life!
So many beautiful moments, but 5:17 has to be my favourite. The pure anguish in Pearl’s eyes is extraordinary. It’s a bit stylised for my liking, but there are some truly beautiful pieces of art there. Good work 😊
Scott killing himself at the end sort of was the final touch to Pearl's side of the story. Pretty much the entire season was people leaving her. And in the end it happened again.
I just keep watching this over and over again and realizing that this would be an incredible show/book, especially with the Martyn/Scott/Cleo/pearl plot line, and then the wild look in Joel's eyes when he goes red. It's AMAZING!
I'm a month late to this animation BUT THIS WAS JAW DROPPING I LOVED THE EMOTIONS OF THE 4 ESPECIALLY WHEN TANGO MAD AT 1:55 I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT 💙💙💙
WOOOOOOOOOW!!! As usual the Pearl moments just take the cake in these, the icy finger chin stroke, the summoning image, the red face behind B-dubs and impulse. But the other subtle storylines that are not touched on like the secret soul mate purple lives. The image of the two soul mates dying seperated from their other halves broke my heart. The whole thing was just so so so so so so amazing!!!!
I adore how you had everyone's strings around their fingers but Grians around his neck with the symbolism pushing forward the idea he saw scar as a hindrance and the use of the symbolism with the other soulmates as well
This has to be the best video on TH-cam! Every single drawing has so much detail! The beginning part with impulse and bdubbs, Grian and BigB’s connection being purple, The spiky fort battle drawings, the ending being portrayed as Scott killing himself because of his grief over Cleo’s death It’s all soo good! I always make jokes about how Double Life is just Grians ao3 history, but I actually really enjoyed Double Life (probably more than the others of the life series). It's stuff like this that absolutely captures why exactly I love it. Even though it's minecraft, there's still so much storytelling involved. Amazing animatic!!

And now, i sit here, AMAZED WITH THIS, CUZ ITS BETTER THAN ANYTHING I COULD IMAGINE. I found you on "Who are you really?" and i love your animatics and art so fucking much, This animatic blew my mind in amazement.
Wow! I've seen double life many times, but after I watched this, something felt different. Not just watching double life, but all of the life series. Anything related to Grian, Smallbeans, Solidarity, Tango, Scar, LDShadowlady, everyone! It's always felt different. I love this, it's the greatest fan made thing I've ever seen. And you really know that when Grian sends a whole paragraph about it! Great job! ❤
AMAZINGLY POWERFUL!!! Not only the heartstrings, but details like handclasps and deep eye contact really showed the commitment many of the bonds had, and their grief when a partner was lost was heartbreaking. Truly powerful visual storytelling! Also, love seeing so much of Impulse, and the detail of Pearl’s particles showing her deteriorating stability was brilliant!✨🌟💔
I love the scene where you show everyone connected through the strings. Especially Ethos string being disconnected from Bdubs and the strings around Grian, Scott, and Cleo are wrapped around their necks symbolizing their feelings of being trapped and controlled by the people they are with. Very cool!
Holy Actual Crap This is the best thing on TH-cam. The song choice is just, mwah. Perfectly encapsultes the lighthearted in the beginning, and then kind of dark in the end. As always, your art style is so distinct and so cool. And your choice of key moments was perfect for the story. I cannot say a single bad thing about this. Immediately sharing with my buddies.
I’d almost forgotten how emotional Double Life made me, with all the sacrifices, betrayals and funny moments, but this arose all those feelings and that shows how amazing you did at creating this 🥲
The emotion, the detail, the way everyone was independently portrayed, it’s just amazing. And oh my god the little details like Pearl being spaced away from the others, the severing in BigB’s and Grians “link”, Tango’s hair, it all just gives me chills.
Wow... This is so amazing, all the details and flashbacks to 3rd life I particularly love how at 0:42 Pearl has normal eyes but at 1:42 they turn red (even though she still has 3 lives). Also 2:34 is so cool what the heck Edit: and at 0:45 & 0:50 Scar and Grian have some blood on their heads, because Grian hit Scar with a stalactite to prove that they are soulmates

Seeing how you drew grians death makes me realise how painful getting killed by the wardens shriek is. Your ear drums fail to the loud noise, crushing your eardrums as you can't do anything to stop it and your body breaks.
I don't know why I'm crying 😭😭😭😭 This was an amazing series, full of love, betrayal, infidelity, and pandas 😭 I can't wait for the next season of the life series.

Absolutely incredible. You know, it's easy to get caught up in the moment - During the production of the Double Life series it had a lot of people saying things like "I don't like this as much as Third life or Last Life" It can make me feel like the series idea has maybe run its course. But when I see work like this and the unique story that each "Life" series has and the legacy it leaves it reminds me that they are worth making. Each animated frame is full of emotion - and more importantly it hits home because its accurate to how we feel when recording. Thank you for making this, it's really special and sums up the mark I want each life series to leave on the viewers.
The "Life" series should not end, I am always looking forward to that day of the week to watch yet another episode. It's truly amazing and I'm very thankful for all the work that goes into these projects.
honestly i love the life series so much and even if you run out of ideas to make it more unique than the last id love to see a rerun of the original 3rd life’s rules, what makes each episode unique is the interactions and the personas/characters portrayed between friends technically just being goofy and having fun. its great and fantastic
I loved this animation dearly, it summarizes Double Life as a whole, and shows emotion and character on it. I see that this has a lot of effort put onto it. This amazed me, and I agree with the people above me, this series should never end, it feels unique each season, from the chaos brought onto the Life series to the dramatic events happening as well.
For as long as you enjoy making Life seasons, there's going to be thousands and thousands of people who will hype them up and wait for each new episode with bated breath. I know I'll be one of them. The Life series is probably my absolute favourite Minecraft SMP to date, and each new twist brings a new dynamic to the concept. Maybe some people will prefer one twist over another, but that doesn't make the other twists any less exciting. The sheer amount of amazing fanart and animatics each season confirms it (and this animatic is 1000% AMAZING, brings out all those feelings from watching the series from the different perspectives!!!)

I think Tango and Jimmy's relationship was the healthiest of all.
They didn't have any "secret soulmates" or trying to break others up.
They were simply there for each other from the moment they realized they were linked.
When they met back up in the Hermitcraft/Empires crossover, through the magic of LORE, you can see how much their bond meant when they excitedly greeted each other.

Tango & Skizz invited Jimmy to play Plate-up! The Ranchers was brought up again, and in their second Stream, at one point Tango nonchalantly named their pizza restaurant Ranchers Pizza! It made me smile!!! They are still my fave Life series Duo! 5am Pearl has her very own special place in my heart as well!
Ranchers Duo was my favorite too. The ranch being burnt down, the warden killed from the fishing boys, it was all sad, especially the fact of Tango's ending, if you look at it from his POV. The references always come back too me.
I love them sm, their literally the only ones actually *DATING* in my AU, like married.

I like imagining, specifically in the most “pearl is terrifying” interpretations, that Scott blows himself up to keep Pearl from escaping. Sort of “this ends here, and I’m taking you with me!”

Also, another creepy thing I like to think may have happened, is you know how eyes are super soft and squishy? Yeah, the sudden pressure would probably make those go *pop,* to put it simply, after the first shriek (it took two to kill Grian, remember that). I can see Scar just suddenly going blind and basically losing his hearing, hence why he fell off the horse, before he dies.

I don't think I've ever seen someone do an animatic where Scott has Cleo in his arms while she dies, which I think is an amazing way to show the bond they shared and the sadness scott feels that his best friend throughout the series is now gone. The fact that the TNT from scott is turned from an act of surrender into more of an act of revenge and grief really hit home with me. Awesome job as always!

I think the reason for the is Scott asked Pearl to come to spawn instead of himself going to battle site where cleo died.
@@EverenArt Your interpretation of the ending doesn't technically quite hold up with most of what actually happened (when you look objectively at stuff like wording and location) but I can see how you got it and I would not have it any other way, you literally always make these perfect what is a wrong with artistic license? And who knows, I might have some bias and you are right but my mind is making me think my interpretation is logical
Pearl's *excellent* villain arc is a parable of how unjust treatment turns us toward darkness. I think it's often overlooked how Scott acted too harshly toward Pearl in spite of her attempts to explain herself by the end of episode one. Several times throughout this series, Pearl attempted to forge bonds anew, but was rebuffed at each turn. I became so attached to her perspective and rooted for her until the end.
This particular video spins a satisfying tale of Scott going out due to grief, but I think the series benefited from Scott acknowledging Pearl at the end.
4:10 i like how you portrayed Grian caught up with the carnage, but when he realised what he had done, it was too late. The part where Bigb forgave Grian while he was crying at Bigb's grave was also well detailed

Everything about this is incredible I want to cry every time I see it. Something I don’t see people mentioning though is 2:50 where Etho is clearly not quite over Last Life and asks Bdubs multiple times “is it a happy marriage?“ But his yearning doesn’t reach Bdubs who’s caught up in his new lovey dovey couple with Impulse. It’s subtle in the series, but I’m glad you included it and it breaks my heart if I think about it too much.

I have a few things to address.
1) I love your new depictions of the Lifers. You have improved a lot.
2) Etho and Joel boating down with Happiness is pure gold!
3) The callbacks to previous seasons. Grian and Scar's connection reminiscing back to 3rd Life, Etho's eyes flashing back to his Scar kill from Last Life, Martyn flashing back to Ren's kill, All look amazing!
4) The soul strings tying around Grian, Cleo and Scott's necks showing their reluctant soulbonds, but BigB still holding it in his hand, meaning he is still faithful to Ren's bond, Etho's attempted soulbond towards BDubs being rejected by him as he bonds with Impulse. Also, I am in love with the silhouette drawings. They look so cool!
5) What hits home is how the type of bond is represented by the way the strings are tied. The happiest ones having the heart at their chests, the ones holding on to them with the heart in their hands, and the unwilling ones being strangled by them!
6) That shot of Pearl on a horse, standing with her Dogs is purely awesome!
7) Pearl taunting Scott by damaging herself.
8) I love that you showed Jimmy's enderman death and Grian's sonic boom death, and then showed both Scar and Tango fallen down in a single frame! For me, that frame of them dying out of nowhere is the best, especially with the music.
9) Etho and Joel holding Hands in their dying breath! Made me nearly shed a tear.
10) Impulse holding out his hand for BDubs with his dying breath.
11) And lastly, I love your interpretation of Scott's death. To me, the alliance they formed in the end against other Reds was purely to survive, and in reality, they still had the hatred for each other, so it did not make sense for Scott to give Pearl the win, "because she deserves it." You encompassed my true interpretation: Scott bonded with Cleo, and so Cleo's death was also Scott's death in Scott's eyes. He would rather die with his friend, than win something he wished to win with them, alone.
TLDR- This animatic is amazing! I have watched it a couple times already!

Only issue I have with 11) is that iirc, Cleo and Martin turned on Scott after Pearl killed Bdubs, but he got away and they went looking for Pearl. So, it would be more fitting to consider his heartbreak over Cleo's betrayal rather than her death. He was fully aware they attacked Pearl first.
Joel and Etho will always be the most unpredictable and scary duo ever

I don’t even know where to begin, this whole thing is absolutely gorgeous! I love the expressions and the usage of imagery from past series (like the flashing to briefly show Third Life Scar and Grian and the scene of Martyn staring down at the body of the red king when Ren falls dead beside him). And the scene of the strings connecting soul bonds? Seeing the strings tied around the necks of the unwitting soul bonds? Can’t say enough how much I adore that. Then again I adore this whole thing. Found myself getting emotional at various parts, especially the ending. Perfectly encapsulates Double Life in a beautiful way! :D

4:21 im not sure if anyone mentioned this, but tbh if you really think about grian's death in double life, it sounds absolutely terrifying. Getting hit by the sonic blast of a blind monster underground while struggling to escape back to the surface by crawling up out of a narrow tunnel.
I feel like it was so well portrayed in this, and really all of the animatic was just so beautiful and chilling
I love how you captured Joel’s insanity and how at 4:49 etho and Joel are dyeing together yet are so strong and them going down a waterfall in a boat is such a nice touch

Rewatched this and noticed the blood on Grian and Scar’s head at 0:49 to depict the dripstone used to reveal their bond. Absolutely amazing!
You have an insane knack for presenting stories through animatic form, especially when it comes to showing all the little bits and interwoven details. Just. WOW. This awoke some powerful feelings in me, and the creative choices just make it hit harder. The purple string being used to represent chosen soulbounds is an INCREDIBLE idea, and that moment where you showed all the duos silhouetted with their bonds visible, Etho reaching out to Bdubs but getting cut off, Grian and Bigb making their bond with Scar and Ren looking over at them, and then Scott and Cleo creating their own willingly (and then couple those with Grian, Cleo, and Scott's actual soulbonds being wrapped around their necks like it's choking them, while Bigb's soulbond with Ren is sitting in his hand like he's still holding onto it). There's so much here that I absolutely love, oh my god, I cannot stress enough how wonderful your animatics are

It’s incredible that this artist can put so much emotion into the art. In the real series, no one was really too disappointed if they died, there was an “oh no!” or something along the lines of that, but nothing too big. But in the art…. Wow. Every time someone was dying, you could see horror in their face, tears in their eyes. This is truely amazing, keep up the good work!

I still can't get over how beautiful and expressive some of these shots are. Literally came back a few hours after first watching just to comment (I rarely ever comment) because I couldn't get them out of my head. I really love how Tango, Scott, and Cleo are drawn in this. They just look so magical, from Tango's flaming hair (conveying his "anger issues" LOL, that's awesome), to Scott being some sort of fairy or elf, with glowing particles floating about his hair--I love that interpretation of his MC skin. And I always look forward to seeing how Cleo is drawn since I find her skin so gorgeous on its own--and here she looks like an undead princess.
My favorites scenes:
0:55 Tango being flung by the explosion that killed him and Timmy, leading them to meet up at spawn. The transition from Tango falling to Timmy being helped up is so, so clever.
1:09 The Boat Boys doing what they do best. Just so full of exhilaration and joy (with a touch of terror hehe), really encapsulating their chaotic energy.
1:27 The epic scene with everyone in perfect sync with the music gave me chills... AND THEN AGAIN when I realized the background was a warden behind them!
1:42 Scarlet Pearl tragically unhinged and covered in frost, breathing cold air, is just perfectly unsettling as she taunts Scott and him repulsed, close yet not, just like how in the series Pearl kept reminding Scott who he was truly bound to, against his will.
1:55 Tango's rage is palpable here. I love how his hair goes up in flames like a demon as Timmy keeps him from utterly losing it. The way you render light and embers and fire looks so dreamy.
2:34 TER-RI-FY-ING. In every sense of the word. Pearl seems so unknowable, cold, and merciless---this must be how the other Lifers felt around her.
2:46 Love this callback to the fall of RentheKing, and really nice syncing with the drum beats.
2:51 to 3:28. SO much going on and SO much to say. Somehow you managed to depict everyone's relationship status and drama in one shot. All the good relationships close to each other, hearts at the heart for the true, heart-lines in the hand for the wanting/unwanted, but strangling at the throats of those who rejected their Soulmates.
3:45 I mayyy have laughed a little here remembering how Impulse died and was lying on the ground in-game (and Grian's laugh) in Pearl's perspective despite how tragic this scene is.
3:51 LOVE reflections in eyes. And lol Joel's red-life feralness is really captured here.
4:01 Really beautiful shot of Jimmy, with awesome perspective and foreshortening. And the lighting! I gasped on my first watch at how beautiful and mesmerizing the flames were. Plus awesome editing on the transition from yellow Jimmy to red.
4:20 Seeing Jimmy and Grian die the way you drew them hurt in a way that watching the gameplay hadn't. And then Tango and Scar falling dead together, apart from their Soulmates, further amplified that tragedy.
4:38 is just so pretty. Again the dreamy lighting, and Scott's look of intense focus with his glowing golden hair and eyes beautifully contrasting with the blue of the dim corridor. The four divorcees hiding in the deep dark for their lives and even then Pearl and Martyn are excluded from the bond that Scott and Cleo share---and it shows. Pearl turns, and leaves, her rejection written in the stone around them.
4:50 Joel and Etho dying such a tragic death, going bravely up in flames side by side. Together in their final moments, a pure Relationship, no more longing for a different partner complicating it. You depicted this scene so soulfully.
4:56 So brutal, the way Impulse and BDubs fell in battle together to the scorned Soulmate. But even death cannot split their happy marriage. And then Cleo, the object of envy of the Pearl, the one who has her Soulmate's heart. Pearl is bent on destroying all that she couldn't have for herself---a true bond with another person. So washing her sword and the world in red, in the end she still cannot win. In a final act of grief and revenge, Scott destroys himself, and with him the Scarlet Pearl.
Thus concludes an amazing series.
The parallel between Etho killing Scar with the fishing rod in Last Life and Grian killing Joel with it in Double Life was amazing. Both Etho and Grian killed the other's soulmate/future soulmate which just added to the utter brilliance of connecting those two scenes. This is such an amazing animatic and it really captured how the whole thing felt. I also loved how unlike others, you depicted Scott killing himself almost out of spite, because of Cleo's death whereas other animators depict him forgiving Pearl and letting her win. This was beautifully drawn and I really look forward to seeing what you do next!
3:51 The part in Etho's eyes where it showed him and Scar from last life just grabbed my attention as it replaced Grian and Joel. The fact how it like connected.
4:25 Seeing Tango and Scar just killed me
I rewatch this at least once a week and I love noticing everything I can, the way the strings are choking those who don’t want to be in that relationship, the fact that the line ‘with no closure’ is going over Tango and Scar lying dead on the forest floor not knowing what happened to their soulbound and not being able to talk about it. Plus so many more details! Your work is absolutely incredible and I hope you know that 💕
The deal with god then showing Tango and Cleo’s fall was masterful. The grief from Scott over Cleo at the end reflects how she refused to hurt Scott with Martin. Literally brought me to tears. The fishing pole turned on Etho (who used it on Scar in Last Life) was a part I didn’t realize in the series until this animatic.
i love how differently everyone interprets scott tnt-ing him self at the end, this was amazing! ur art style is so gorgeous i love it, and the scenes are so well done, 4:03 with Jimmy blowing up the flames in the backround, and the lighting in general. 2:26 with the flowers falling out of Cleo's hair and Martins facial expression shows so much emotion. 3:51 the scene reflecting in Etho's eyes as well as the expression of him realizing what is happening. and at 1:30 the way u made the enchanter's light look so cool on their faces, and the face of the warden looming behind them! 4:16 the light coming from big-b's ghost reflecting onto grian! JUST WOW
and 4:52 with pearls face glowing in the shadows!! hajfgfadshjasdasd SO GOOD
As an addition at 3:51 the reflections changes for a couple frames to mimic the way Etho killed Scar with a fishing rod in Last Life.

I like how the ones that are "stuck" in their soulmateship have the soulmate string wrapped around their neck I think that's an awesome detail
So many beautiful moments, but 5:17 has to be my favourite. The pure anguish in Pearl’s eyes is extraordinary.

Scott killing himself at the end sort of was the final touch to Pearl's side of the story. Pretty much the entire season was people leaving her. And in the end it happened again.

I just keep watching this over and over again and realizing that this would be an incredible show/book, especially with the Martyn/Scott/Cleo/pearl plot line, and then the wild look in Joel's eyes when he goes red. It's AMAZING!

WOOOOOOOOOW!!! As usual the Pearl moments just take the cake in these, the icy finger chin stroke, the summoning image, the red face behind B-dubs and impulse. But the other subtle storylines that are not touched on like the secret soul mate purple lives. The image of the two soul mates dying seperated from their other halves broke my heart. The whole thing was just so so so so so so amazing!!!!
I adore how you had everyone's strings around their fingers but Grians around his neck with the symbolism pushing forward the idea he saw scar as a hindrance and the use of the symbolism with the other soulmates as well

I always make jokes about how Double Life is just Grians ao3 history, but I actually really enjoyed Double Life (probably more than the others of the life series). It's stuff like this that absolutely captures why exactly I love it. Even though it's minecraft, there's still so much storytelling involved. Amazing animatic!!

Wow! I've seen double life many times, but after I watched this, something felt different. Not just watching double life, but all of the life series. Anything related to Grian, Smallbeans, Solidarity, Tango, Scar, LDShadowlady, everyone! It's always felt different. I love this, it's the greatest fan made thing I've ever seen. And you really know that when Grian sends a whole paragraph about it! Great job! ❤
AMAZINGLY POWERFUL!!! Not only the heartstrings, but details like handclasps and deep eye contact really showed the commitment many of the bonds had, and their grief when a partner was lost was heartbreaking. Truly powerful visual storytelling! Also, love seeing so much of Impulse, and the detail of Pearl’s particles showing her deteriorating stability was brilliant!✨🌟💔

I love the scene where you show everyone connected through the strings. Especially Ethos string being disconnected from Bdubs and the strings around Grian, Scott, and Cleo are wrapped around their necks symbolizing their feelings of being trapped and controlled by the people they are with. Very cool!

This is the best thing on TH-cam. The song choice is just, mwah. Perfectly encapsultes the lighthearted in the beginning, and then kind of dark in the end. As always, your art style is so distinct and so cool. And your choice of key moments was perfect for the story. I cannot say a single bad thing about this. Immediately sharing with my buddies.

I’d almost forgotten how emotional Double Life made me, with all the sacrifices, betrayals and funny moments, but this arose all those feelings and that shows how amazing you did at creating this 🥲
The emotion, the detail, the way everyone was independently portrayed, it’s just amazing. And oh my god the little details like Pearl being spaced away from the others, the severing in BigB’s and Grians “link”, Tango’s hair, it all just gives me chills.

Seeing how you drew grians death makes me realise how painful getting killed by the wardens shriek is. Your ear drums fail to the loud noise, crushing your eardrums as you can't do anything to stop it and your body breaks.
