IT'S FINALLY DONE!
Last Life is an SMP series where all members spawn with a set amount of lives between 2-6. If someone gets down to one life left, they turn red, and they become hostile to other players. There is also a boogeyman chosen every session that has to make a kill on a green or yellow person or else they will start the next session on their red life.
I tried my best to make sure everyone had their moment to shine, but understand that I couldn't include every moment. I included my personal favorite parts of the series and the ones that felt the most iconic.
Also, a disclaimer, there are most definitely mistakes in this video. Life amounts being wrong, characters in the wrong scenes, character designs being wrong, etc. I did the best I could for the size of the project this was. Also, for most of the cast, this was my first time drawing them, and I'm not as familiar with some of the people included. So apologies if any of the designs feel wrong.
That being said, please understand that I am not open to unsolicited criticism or correction.

Scar's design is so cool, and the way he uses magic instead of a normal bucket really adds to how good this animation is!
I agree I think if I recognize scars design it's based off another character named scar in fullmetal Alchemist cuz it looks very similar

this just proves that the Last Life series and/or Hermitcraft could be adapted into an animated series and i would watch the HELL out of 'em. they're both more dramatic and emotional and wholesome than most shows out there

1:06 I love how menacing this scene is always portrayed when the real clip has Grian trying to spleef Mumbo whilst they both are just chuckling
My favorite portrayal is the interpretation of the laughter as pained crying, as it just contrasts the original clip so much
One was evil laughing the other was nervous chuckling but still scene was super menacing

I cannot express my happiness at “B.E.S.T face on.” Truly the greatest form of wordplay I have maybe ever seen. Thank you kind sir/ma’am/neither of those.
One of my fav jokes was scar or someone saying something like "Team best? What are they gonna do? Build a TnT cannon at you?" idk why but it made me laugh so hard

My favorite part is when Scar looks up with red eyes just as the song says "here we go", almost like it's calling back to all the destruction caused by Scar being the first red name the previous season. It's so good.
Probably one of the coolest references here imo, he was so ready and set on the chaos.
Actually! I noticed that whenever the person was the boogeyman they'd have specks of red in their eyes! It's a cool detail that really ties it all together. :)

LOVE seeing this SMP get some attention, especially with amazing fan works such as this-I’m in love with the designs and scene composition
The only thing I hate about these last life animations is how everybody portrays mumbos end crystals as weapons of mass destruction, when most the time he is laughing while completely missing.

THIS IS SO GOOOD, the little red in the eyes to show the boogeyman and how it fades after they kill??? Dude that slight movement up on etho as he was midair and his eyes switching to green AAA. Sooo good, had to pause and rewind so many scenes this is delightful.

what about when lizzie was killed, she wasnt boogey but she was a red name and her eyes were red ( 1:54 )
as you can see at 0:26 both scar and joel have red + green eyes, meaning thats what the boogey eyes look like as they were both boogeymen that time
^ also to clarify if your boogey and your either at green or yellow hearts (bc red cant be boogey) then its red + what heart level your on in the amv

I don't know if you're still reading comments but I just have to say that it's been months since I last watched any life series/hermitcraft content and yet I keep coming back to this animation! You are singlehandedly why last life is my favorite life series. The storytelling in your animation was what made me check out more povs and end up loving team best. Really impressive work!

That red tint is *such* a minor detail, but it's so good!
I've watched this so many times, I really love it. The animation is timed so perfectly with the music (and some of the scenes go so well with the lyrics, like ZombieCleo lighting things on fire - 'I'm up to something / I hope you like the show'). I particularly love how much character and emotion you convey with line art like this. Love love love.

Let's take a moment to just kinda o7 for lizzie, all she wanted was to live with her friends, her scary zombie friend her loyal knight and big b. Then she got peer pressured into taking the enchanting table for a low price, so the handlers could get it off their hands. Her best friend turned on her for big b's mistake and burnt her home, she got rejected soon after by her only friends and alliance, and after that they all became a alliance without her again! o7 lizzie, the fairy lady

Also just what happened with bdubs was so sad and dramatic
But hey I think the death by berries kill was sick tbh, so slow and painful. Also the burn injuries already, that would be such so cool animated!
I've watched a lot of minecraft animations, Hermitcraft animations, 3rd Life animations, Last Life animations, even some Manhunt animations, but I think this might just be the best minecraft animation I've ever seen! The dedication to make something of this length, the shear quality of every single image, the fact that it was easy to tell who was who in the animation, the coverage of, to my recollection, every major event over the course of the series, and the flawless syncing of transitions with the music! This entire video is just *muah* , chef's kiss! Absolute perfection! You should be super proud of this!

When this animation came out, 2 years ago, i didnt have any idea who grian was, hermitcraft, nothing, and i watched this animation and i was like "woah!!" And i wanted to see whatever it was, when i found out that it was Minecraft i was so happy because i was in the dsmp back then and i loved minecraft, now, after watching all of the series and every grian video, hermitcraft is my hyperfixation and so is grian, so thank you, youre the reason im into hermitcraft and the life series.

*I honestly can't stop watching this!!!* It's all so perfect every person and every scene is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Grian going back to mumbo after he's red, Joel and Grian running from Scott before their killed oh it's just perfect all of it. Did I mention the drawing of everyone is perfect.

I was just able to get around to watch this and WOW! Absolutely incredible work Rusty. The camera movements and transitions between each of the scenes were so dynamic and fluid, and you were able to hit the key points of the entirety of LL without it feeling too adrupt or overwhelming. Fantastic from start to finish! Loved seeing you work on it during streams as well.

Even though the style is simplistic, the animation is stunning and the story was presented incredibly. Everything gave me chills and the fact that the timing was so perfect for each illustration- utterly speechless.

I only watched Grian and Ldshadowlady but I recommend you watch people like Cleo, Bdubs and others in the shadow alliance cause they have completely different things going on
A good rule of thumb, is at least one per alliance to get a good ruling about what happened.

When put in the form of an animatic, for some reason the concept of Last Life seems a lot scarier. Maybe it's the amount of death portrayed in the video, but either way, I love the animation and the thrill it gives!

I can’t even explain how much I love this animatic. After watching this I immediately ran to watch Last Life so that i could understand what’s going on and let me just say that this video just got ten times better! I wish there was more I could do than just give it a thumbs up but that’s all TH-cam has. I can’t stop smiling when I watch this! The story telling, the creativity, and your art are all aspects of what makes this video so spectacular, AMAZING JOB!!!!

After watching both series, a load of animatics and also hermitcraft I have concluded that Scar is the main character 🤣 he just gives off the biggest main character vibes and everyone interacted significantly with him.
Id say the same thing could go with Grian.

Not Mumbo watching Grian get shot then immediately being attack by Grian. This was great. Also, this makes me want like a Webtoon comic series about this. Seeing everyone with red eyes be all cool and murdery, lol. The more I rewatch it the more I see. Watching Scar go red like 8 times because the man just can't stay alive in Minecraft is also great.

This is incredible! By far the best last life animatic I’ve seen. I love how the animation perfectly syncs up to the music. It really seems like you hit all the key events of the season. I love this, keep up the good work!
Trying to comment on things sometimes instead of only watching them over and over, so here’s a list of all my favorite bits:
- the opening notes, with each little group (especially BEST being in order)
- Grian’s grumpy little face getting put back to yellow after Bdubz killed him
- BEST being wholesome tbh
- the fact you draw Lizzie with fairy wings bc of the Fairy Fort
- Cleo’s little laugh and smile I adore it
- Cleo and Etho getting bubbled up out of the ground for their attack
- slowing the animation down to focus on the four remaining players before the final showdown

this is so cool, the people's character designs were thought out and kept to the original person's character and also was easily reconisable and allowed the reteilling of the story to feel very new and exiting again!

I keep watching this over and over. It’s so good! I love the part where Grian turns on Mumbo, the murderous intent on Grian’s face and the horror on Mumbo’s. I also loved the part where Scar fell into the Southlands trap, like a doofus. The subtle way his hood floats up, the look of shock on the Southlanders’ faces, the way it doesn’t actually say he fell into a trap but you can just TELL. Amazing!!
I just watched your "Dancin'" animation and things went from wholesome vibing to betrayal and murder.
I really love how this accurately explains last life in such a short time. The part where Mumbo got engulfed in flames by scars lava had to be one of my favorite parts

Dude, I can’t get over how sick Scar’s design is!!! I love your use of his magic, especially when he goes Red! Like holy shit, that was so cool!!! I love the magic wisps just wrapping around him and I can’t get over how much I love the way you portrayed his entire story!! Also, TANGO GIVING HIM THE LIFE. AND BDUBS TAKING TANGO’S AAAA. I LOVE HOW YOU DID ALL OF TEAM BEST IN THIS, ESPECIALLY ETHO ATTACKING SCAR. BUT THE WAY YOU DID BDUBS BETRAYAL WAS SO SMOOTH AND POOR TANGO.

Can I just say how good this is? Despite it being black and white line art, you can absolutely distinguish different people with relatively little effort. That's quite the feat! You're really good at this!

I know that last life is a very dum series full of a bunch of shenanigans and tomfoolery, but honestly just imagine how cool of a show concept it would be. A group of people put in a community with them slowly descending into chaos due to them losing their lives/humanity, and getting cursed to hurt their friends along the way. This would legitimately be a fantastic show imo
This animation really got me into the Last Life series! It's so fun watching the others perspectives and then coming back to this to see where each event fit!!
Man, Last Life was so good. Battle Royals type stuff with the experience of Hermitcraft pros and others was genius and it made for some great organic storytelling. I can’t wait to see more of they sort of thing in the future, especially since stuff like Dream SMP has really faded out and lost the plot over the last year.

1:08 is my favourite moment of video because you see ethos fishing rod kill in a different way the way the body almost flopped forward and he looks defenceless made it look so much more menacing.
This is one of the best last life animations I’ve ever seen, I love the part where you show them right after they get killed with an angry look on their face, and my favorite part of all of this is the fact you have their eyes glow the color of their nametags/lives they have in game, I only watched from Grian’s perspective and that really helped me keep track of the other people’s story! That scene with scar where he was the boogeyman and killed mumbo with the half red in his eyes disappearing was a GREAT touch! Overall I love this! You did F A N T A S T I C
