hi I'm learning a lot with your videos thank you! I'm about to buy my first cnc, I'm not sure which one its better shapeoko 4xxl or onefinity woodworker x50 any recommendation? I really appreciate thank you!
Hey! I haven’t had the opportunity to use a shapeoko but I really like our onefinity I’ve had it for over a year. I would check out the onefinity user facebook page, I’m sure someone there has used both.
One trick I did when I wanted my grid to stand out I cut the grid and then I spray-painted the top and then when I surfaced the top I had perfectly Red Lions with my logo in the board
In the world of industrial CNC manufacturing that is called a subplate. In that application it would be a big piece of aluminum that you can drill and tap holes in for mounting vises and fixtures without ever leaving any marks on the table.
New to channel. My Onefinity is coming in early August. I was going to prep for it as much as I can by starting to build the table. Do you have a table build video? Or can you tell me the size of the top? And overall height.
I noticed you never milled the top surface of the wasteboard?? or did you? before you put the grid lines in? I got my machine recently and followed your wasteboard t/track setup..thanks alot..you guys are great!
You definitely can surface the work area. I didn’t because I didn’t have a bit at that time. And Id you only cut small stuff like trays you’ll never notice. Large stuff over 20x20 definitely surface the wasteboard
The tracks are typically aluminum which is a soft metal and you would blow through them with ease. I would be more concerned on why you are cutting though the waste board over a 1/4 lol
Great video. Thanks. I've been programming and machining steel for about 30 years now and just ordered my onefinity. Looking forward to doing some fun stuff with it. Any recommendations on programming software that won't limit programming options? I'm hoping they eventually develop a 5 axis machine.
@@TwoMooseDesign Well the day has arrived. Machine came today with the X50 upgrade. Came back here to get a refresher on your waste board set up. I'm going to start on it tomorrow and then work on my enclosure. Have you ever decided to add bench dogs to your waste board along with using cam style clamps?
@@misterjj779 I’ve tried both they work great! I’ll be posting a similar video Saturday with the journeyman 🙌🏼 I’ll have to come up with a video on a bunch of ways to mount stuff
what t-track clamps have you ended up using, if any? I just built mine the same way and I'm now realizing that the Rockler t-track inline clamps will not work because the track is lower than the spoil board. Just wondering if you are using any or just sticking with the glue/tape method? seems that the t-tracks could be irrelevant if you are and the spoil board could be one big board with the grid. Also, do you have a file for the grid that you can share? save some vcarve design time. ;-) thanks. can't wait to dive into things with my 1F
Good video, I was wondering if you used Easel to make your grid lines, I noticed that your spoil board is 32"X32" does Easel make carves that size without tiling? do you use the Pro or free version. Thank you Mike
Thanks for sharing your videos. I'm waiting on a Journeyman and was wondering if you were starting from scratch (as I am), would you still build your own waste board or would you consider the QCW? Thanks.
Great video, im purchasing my first cnc and definitely going with the 1F. Question do you use the probe? It's $90 dollars and if I don't need to purchase I would rather save where I can. Thanks
