    All of mine are named Twinkie...lol Im retired and just moved north of Seattle in the beautiful woods. I feed them every morning and see i need to step it up as far as food..I thank you so much for coming across my feed! I need to not just give them peanuts in a shell...my son says he's waiting to see "Twinkie" practically roll up to my backdoor like a heavy Pokémon! Lol..I am really enjoying them! I have the rest of my life to enjoy them. Thank you so much for send me to this video hon💙🌎

    It's fun to earn their trust and see their personalities come out over time. Sometimes they pee when they see me, what is that about? No barking, just "oh hey, it's matt! *peeeeee*"

      Lol 😂 My squirrels pee on the window all the time too, but I think is to mark it as their territory and to help them come back by following the smell.

      The squirrels I feed do that often too. Not when they see me but if they come by and there's no food put out I'll see a couple little puddles 😂

    There's also the intuitive recognition phenomenon based on each unique energy signature each personality has. But it's deeper and very hard to put words on. But works amazingly well. 🤗

    Oh, my goodness, they are so beautiful. We don`t have any squirrels in Australia only possums. The ring tails are probably about the same size as squirrels.The brushtails are big and eat you out of house and home. I used to feed them, but after finishing my offering they stripped my vege garden as well. So now I only feed the birds. I have just discovered your channel and have subscribed. I love videos about animals. Best regards from QLD Australia

    Yes definitely can pick up on the differences the more time you spend with them. I only named one. Her name is buddy, I know not feminine at all. But she knows it. She’s got tiny ears compared to the others, and thin hair on her tail. She also never breathes hard like the others when I’m near, plus she’ll run towards me when I talk to her. lol huge difference 😂

    Thanks for another brilliant video….thanks for sharing your squirrel life…..how many squirrels are you feeding at the moment?…..we’re feeding only 2 and they’re taking kilos and kilos of walnuts and hazelnuts (in shells)…I think if we constantly filled their dishes, they’d constantly empty them! They have 6 walnuts a day and about 30 hazelnuts in 2 batches, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. Plus a dish of peanuts and sunflower seeds in case they get hungry in between…..We went away for 2 weeks and put out about 10 kilos of both nuts hoping they would last them and they were ALL gone in less than 2 days (we have motion tracking cameras that record each visit) 😳😁…..love your videos! XxxxxX🇬🇧💕

    I have Golden Mantle Squirrels where I live and I can tell them apart by their colors, stripes, eyes, Tails, ears, etc too... We don't feed the Wildlife as they cause severe damage to our house and electrical wiring, so we just enjoy their Beauty and make sure that they keep their holes a good distance from the house... Many years ago I saw a figure way in the distance .. far enough you could only tell it was human .. and I knew it was my father .. just the way he moved. I suppose this is some sort of pattern recognition that we humans have .. I also assume that this works for squirrels .. those clues just immediately all add up.

    Such a sweet video. The tryst they gave in you is remarkable. I would like to ask a question. We also feed squirrels and look forward to their visit each day. My question is about almonds. I have heard that almonds are toxic to squirrels, but so many videos I see people give them almonds. Have you ever heard that before? I would give them some if I knew for sure that wasn’t true.

    • @Squirrels_at_the_window
      @Squirrels_at_the_window  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much 😊❤️ I heard that before, but I can assure you that is not true. Almonds have very healthy nutrients and I've been feeding my squirrels almonds for almost 4 years now. But for a healthy diet I would recommend to feed them a mix of nuts, as you can afford, because I know certain nuts can be very expensive especially if you feed a large crowd. Also the best would be unsalted raw almonds, and if you feed them peanuts - dry roasted unsalted.

    • @commonsense354
      @commonsense354 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Squirrels_at_the_window Thank you so much. I knew that couldn’t be right because so many people give them almonds. We give ours walnuts, hazelnuts and peanuts. Now we will treat them to almonds as well. And I will take your advice on what kind to get with the almonds and peanuts. You’re right, they are expensive! I tease my husband that the squirrels are included in our food budget.

    I have always taken an interest in observing my furry friend's special features and behaviors, and naming some of them accordingly. It is so easy for me to become attached to them and when I meet one who has a disorder it makes me feel sad, so I have the need to make sure it is fed very well. Fortunately, this was a good year with little to no squirrel health issues after a bad year in 2021. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It has been a while since I have commented so I wanted to ask if you tried feeding any with avocado recently?

    • @Squirrels_at_the_window
      @Squirrels_at_the_window  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's good to hear from you and I'm glad your squirrels didn't have any health issues. 😊🐿️ I didn't try to feed them anymore avocados, because their rejection was pretty clear and I don't want to force it on them. Their rejection of new foods tells me they already get all the nutrients they need from what I already feed them and I'm happy about that. 🙂
