Tiny Thermal Camera Review (Infiray P2 Pro)

  • This is the smallest thermal camera I've ever seen! It also comes with a macro lens, which is a cool addition. It goes great with a tiny Android phone like the Palm.
The camera has a good temperature range and a very intuitive interface. It's easy to use but also has some professional features.
I had a few minor issues, the camera didn't work with an older Android phone (it's designed for Android 9 and above with OTG). It also saves photos and video in an obscure part of the phone's memory, so you'll need to copy files out manually if you want them on your computer.

A note about using thermal cameras on shiny objects (like coins, or PCBs with shiny solder pads). You'd want to mask off the reflective areas or coat them with a non-reflective paint in order to see their actual temperature, otherwise you're just looking at the temperature of the IR they reflect.

YES! More gear for the tricorder! I'm potentially working on a project that needs a good thermal option thats small so I'm glad you're getting these types of reviews

This would be great for the tricorder project. It would fit into a really small space.

I found the video quite enjoyable overall, but I did notice one aspect that left me a bit underwhelmed. Specifically, the video didn't present us with the opportunity to see a fart through the camera lens. This unique visual would have added another layer of intrigue and amusement to the content. Nonetheless, I don't want to detract from the creator's hard work, and I'm still eager to see more content like this in the future! Keep up the excellent effort!

I bought a P2 recently and it works great. I have been using it with a Samsung Note 8, I had extra. The app starts every time I plug the unit in. It came with a small drawstring bag. I keep the macro lens on it with the cap. In very dark condition, where I couldn't see anything, I was able to see the horses walking around the barn from several hundred feet away.

@@John-wd5cb Well, I wasn't going to say anything, but I did see something else with a large head and big eyes. It was moving along the ground very oddly. I fumbled for my spotlight as it moved closer! After tripping backwards and falling to the ground I had managed to turn on the spotlight (maybe from hitting the ground) as the light stopped moving, it focused directly on the strange object...... it was my Pug!

Hi, I am thinking about this camera and watched a multiple reviews.
You say at 5:35 that the app can't record audio while recording video, but according to other reviews it does, you just have to manually enable microphone access in the app permissions for it to work. They, for some reason, don't ask for it automatically using android permission system.

What I'm curious about, is if it's possible to create a tele lens for it, e.g. using IR laser lenses. Or maybe using a telescope that only uses first surface mirrors (since glass lenses would absorb the IR).
