Hello, I have a video idea for you. I was playing a custom family in Roaring Heights with the Tagger mod activated that let me see all sims, I have been playing this world for several in game days now when for the first time I noticed a new family I hadn't seen before, the Rubio family, living at 34 Beach Drive. Consisting of a mom, Whitney, a dad, Lester, and twin toddlers, Joyce and Bernardo(though the might have been babies when I first started). The reason I am writing isn't because I've never seen them before, the reason I am writing is I can't find mention of then anywhere. I tried looking for them on the sim wiki but they aren't listed as a family on the Roaring Heights page, and their family or individual members don't come up when I search their names. Every npc in all 4 main sim games have a page on that wiki, yet they don't appear. On the off chance they were just not added to the wiki I tried googling them, and yet they don't appear on any of the old or knew sims 3 forums. I found it odd that after over 9 years that there would be no mention of this sim family anywhere in the vast internet and thought you might find it odd to.
Awh yes… A video reminder of all the nights that we feed our sims better dishes than the ones we eat ourselves. I get to watch my sim is eating a gourmet dish as I eat microwaved pizza rolls.
My younger sibling had a ritual as they grew up.... start the game, go make hot pockets, go potty, and get a drink while you wait for it to load, slowly eat hot pocket bit by bit AFTER game is loaded
One detail I really love is how the fresh food steams for a while. Really gives the "freshly cooked" vibe. Or how Sims always smell the pizza box when they open it. And just the cooking vibes in general... not like 4, where any Sim with semi-decent skills keeps performing these weird tricks all the time and frequently pause to do some emotion-based animation. I appreciate the down to earth and detailed animations of 2 when it comes to cooking. I love the spaghetti in this game. Always makes me crave for some good bolognese. Same with the cheeseburger and even the mac n' cheese despite being basic. And the pizza... it looks so damn delicious.
Sims smelling the food is such a great touch. Like you can’t smell it, obviously, but seeing them take in that whiff sort of switches on your senses and almost brings it to you anyway. It really makes me feel warm to see it bc I can just imagine that smell on warm air from the kitchen, just filling up the room and making it feel so real.
Exactly. I don’t get how the team decided that the realistic cooking steps of sims 2 were too much / unnecessary, but the sims 4 sims wasting time pulling faces and doing silly tricks was totally needed.
Baked Alaska is my favorite because of the chance of the Sim dropping it while lighting it and setting themselves on fire which is ICONIC. Recently I was watching Marticore's Genesee Legacy and a Sim caused a fire while baking it, then after the fire got put out she retrieved it from the oven and it was fine (maybe it doesn't ever burn?) and the she went to serve it and started a fire AGAIN it was HISTERICAL.
Tbh as basic as it is, I've always loved watching my sims prepare cereal. In any other sims game, it's a free quick meal that you just pull out of the fridge. The Sims 2? Not having any of that. It's a level of realism that is unmatched in the later games. In fact, there really aren't ANY quick meals in The Sims 2, which I prefer. IRL I can't just spawn a full bowl of soup out of the fridge, cold.
I always loved that you can serve cereal in the Sims 2. When my teens were up early I made them serve cereal to the whole family, which felt kinda realistic.
I really wanted to eat all of the food in Sims 2. Before the game I've never heard about Mac and cheese or baked alaska before so I was so excited to try them someday. Fun, not so fun fact: in Polish localisation of Sims 2, mac and cheese was translated to cheeseburger ("hamburger z serem"), most likely beacause Polish translators never heard of macaroni and cheese before and they associated "mac" with "Mc" and "Mc" in Poland was associated with McDonald's (the translators most likely didn't have the context to what they were translating). So as a kid I've always wondered why it was called that when it's a pasta dish.
That's really interesting! I always enjoy learning about how things get translated to and from different cultures/languages. That was definitely a fun fact for me :)
We do also have something similar to Mac and cheese called “Hamburger Helper” here in the US and it’s essentially just Mac and cheese with ground beef (and occasionally vegetables like tomato or peppers) so “cheeseburger” isn’t too far off!
@@marissam9551 No, It's literally beacause they mistaken Mac with Mc (etc). Beacause it was a problem also with Sims 3. They just couldn't see what the object looked in the game and a lot of the times they just guessed. Translating to Polish is a hard job in general, but I guess It could have been worse
@@Azmina_the_warlock we have like 14 types of Spanish but the Sims only has one option and that's the European Spanish (Castillian), so a lot of things we didn't know were words we learned with the Sims, it was hilarious, I didn't know Mac and cheese either, it took me years to know it was literal pasta and American cheese, lol, the translation was "Macarrones con queso", but that's how they say that in Spain!!!!! Not in Mexico, in Mexico we call them "coditos con queso amarillo o queso Americano", nowadays it's common to have Mac and cheese in Mexico but back then it was unheard of, and the translation for the Sims (Macarrones) means something totally different, here we call that to a traditional floury candy, very delicious so I was like "those Americans.... And their recipes..... Mix candy and cheese???" But I imagined it tasted good and started to crave it because I realised it wasn't dessert for my Sims and they got full !!!!! So I craved mac and cheese until learned years later it was literally just pasta 😭😭😭
Yes and also food that you make from the fishies caught in the pond! They had this cute little ✨sparkle✨to them also, it just looked so appetizing and special!
God the food in the Sims2 was SO good. You really start to appreciate it after seeing what's come after it. For some reason I always liked making the mac and cheese, even thought it's underwhelming, I always thought, wow that sounds good. The pizza and pancakes are def way up there though. There's just something very satisfying about them.
I think it's great that we can appreciate the huge amounts of details they put in to the objects and textures even more today because in 2004 none of us had video cards capable of rendering all of these things in HD quality. I also think it's pretty cool that in Ireland, Chinese food has potatoes in it.
Not sims 2, actually sims 3. But I remember being a picky eater and the sims helped me to taste new recipes. The sims is the reason I ate a salad for the first time lol
One of my favourite things is that, during Sims 2 installation, there was the 'Grow Your Sims' minigame, and in the quiz section, one of the questions asked you what a Baked Alaska was. One of the answers was "Will's crazy dog" (as in, Will Wright), and now every time I play sims, one of my families always has a dog named Baked Alaska.
SNACK REPORT!! A perfectly made cup of coffee and 2 raspberry toaster strudels Excited for this video 😍 EDIT: No Lobster Thermidor?! That prep always made me feel like my sim was a world class chef. It was also the meal of choice when impressing the private school dean!
SIMS LORE POSTED AGAIN! Snack Report: Not a Snack because I made Dinner, but I made Chicken fried rice Also have you thought about doing lore videos on the Sims 3 World Roaring Heights? I was playing the town recently and going through the bios and that town is almost a spicy as lucky palms!
I would include turkey and chilli con carne in the top 10 and leave the cake and chips out. How could you not include grilled cheese sandwich as well lol?
I'm too young to have played sims2 when it came out (22), but I loved watching my aunt play it! Now as a Sims3 fanatic, I love seeing videos like this and getting to know where many people got their love of the Sims from before the Sims3 released in 2009. SNACK REPORT: My partner made us macaroni for lunch. :)
Since I was a kid I always was obsessed with seeing food in video games. I don't know why. (So now obviously any games I make have to have food models lol) This video tapped into that weird interest. I wish I'd been able to play Sims 2 when it first came out!
Snack report: a glass of white chocolate milk and traditional homemade Pan de Pascua since 'tis the season. I always had a soft spot for the holiday roast in TS2, mainly because it took me so long to figure out why my sims couldn't make it at home. But it looks SO GOOD
Wow, youve lived everywhere 😂 the spaghetti unlocked a memory, the sims 2 is the sole reason why I started to eat my spaghetti and other pastas separate from the sauce, because it looks so pretty to serve it like that 😂😂 my parents were so annoyed when I suddenly started asking for that. Another great sim food memory is how sims eat their fave food in the sims 3, they rub their hands together happily and then dig in 🥰 Id have a period where Id make "easy food" the favorites of sims all the time so that I could see them so happy more often hahha
In America, one of our pizza chains(Dominos) actually DID have a “30 minutes or you don’t pay” clause, but they had to cancel it because of so many accidents with delivery men driving too fast lol it was so well known that to this day a lot of people still think that’s a rule when it hasn’t been for many, many years.
11:31 Maybe it was because I was mainly in the Co. Limerick region (with some visits to Galway and Dublin) when I studied abroad in Ireland in Spring 2022, but I genuinely don’t remember there being 4-in-1, and Chinese food is probably my absolute favorite (talking pad thai, honey chicken, pork fried rice with broccoli, etc.). So hearing about this 4-in-1 dish was new to me 😅😂
Not at all the best sims food but I always thought it was hilarious and terrible when you’d have a sim “serve” cereal and they’d bring out this huge pie pan looking dish that was full of (I assume) completely prepared cereal with milk. And when they put it away afterwards to have as leftovers, I was so horrified about how soggy I’m sure it got 💀 Also for the snack report, I had a delightful eel bowl and 3 California rolls ^^
It still amazes me that despite the overall inferior graphics, the food in the Sims 2 looks so much better than the food in the Sims 3 and especially 4. Snack Report: Pistachio-flavored bundt cake fresh from the oven!
Where I live there used to be a Chinese place in town that made fried rice that actually tasted unique compared to the run of the mill Chinese takeout that tastes the same no matter where you buy it. It had water chestnuts, bean sprouts, and other toppings I had never had at any other Chinese takeout place. It was so unique! But then a few years ago they got new management and now it tastes the same as anywhere else. :( I miss them so much.
I love serving pancakes or omelets to my Sims family. By far the worst breakfast is the huge bowl of cereal 🤢 why would you even think to serve cereal in a huge bowl with like a gallon of milk, and scoop it into bowls? Soggy cereal is so nasty 😫 Like, I get why they'd do it this way but I really wish the serving dish was just a big box of cereal with the milk next to it, I wouldn't care if the animation to take a bowl was the same
Amazing food selection!!!!! Sims 2 food looks very appetizing!!! I wanna add 3 dishes I love when my sims makes them, those are the turkey, the holiday roast (that's the one that can only be cooked if you your sim have 7 cooking points, the most expensive oven and the cornucopia) and the Christmas cookies!!!! Those looks amazing!!!!
I haven't played Sims 2 in forever but I still remember, Turkey was the meal you had to cook to please the headmaster to get your kids into private school. Unfortunately due to low cooking skill my sims most ate lunch meat sandwiches.
Smack report: try dipping plain chocolate in cashew butter. I loved the amount of care and attention that the sims 2 has. It was what made the game so astonishingly charming. God I'm hungry.
You talk about the sims food like they do in the Japanese anime titled Food Wars 😂😂😂 I’m here for it. I miss how good the food looked in the older generations of the game.
Snack report: It's 8am for me so I don't have any snacks just yet, but when I'm normally watching TH-cam videos I prefer a bowl of ready salted Pringles. The red ones, in other words. So good. :D
TSL there is no channel like yours. This was so fun to watch. I didn't play ts2 so this was a pleasure to watch. I've tried various times to use custom food mods which show prep, in my ts4. crashes my game every time.
Hey congrats on having a sponsor 👍 For snack I'm having a cup of coffee (milk and sugar), a sandwich with ham and cheese, after that some sort of donut (it's called Pączek 😋)
6:20 - now hear me out (Geordie here)... The absolute *best* way to eat crisps is in a sandwich. And this is a hill I'm willing to die on, it just makes your meal deal all the better Also I still can't get behind them being kept in the fridge 😱
Snack report: boiled edamame and pineapple cookies :3 The baked alaska is my core memory at 13 years old. When I checked all of dessert menu in the game, I was wondering when seeing the word Baked Alaska on it, as it sounds so foreign to me as an Indonesian other than Gelatin, Cake, or Cookies... and when my sim finished making them , I was so awe with the design. I imagine it was sort of flavorful sponge cakes with whipping cream instead lol. And I kept dreaming to make one when I got a bit older. Too bad my excitement sorta went down when I tried to look at the recipes and methods few years later, and found out it wasn't a sponge cake AND the method is harder than I thought before 🤣 But I still give thumbs up for Maxis, how detailed the Baked Alaska was, from the preparation until the result.
Nothing wrong with loving what you love! For example here in Ukraine we have absolutely OUTRAGEOUS over-the-top sushis and rolls that any Japanese, I'm sure, would be horrified of 😂😂😁 But they're still so so good, don't take away from the original dish that you can still get (but I find "classic" sushi's to be too bland for my tastes), and get me SO HAPPY AND HYPED to treat myself with them after a nice paycheck (because they're exXXXPENZUUUUUV). Haha!

You gotta get an air fryer. 😭 it makes food like that taste so much better than the microwave, and I would argue it’s better than the oven too.

TSL there is no channel like yours. This was so fun to watch. I didn't play ts2 so this was a pleasure to watch. I've tried various times to use custom food mods which show prep, in my ts4. crashes my game every time.
Snack report: Skittles! With the lime flavor back where it belongs ☺️

For snack I'm having a cup of coffee (milk and sugar), a sandwich with ham and cheese, after that some sort of donut (it's called Pączek 😋)
They do four in one at Newcastle, I think it’s a northern thing tbh and it is sooo good after a good night out

My snack report: sliced kosher pickles in a bowl, and a can of the brand Koe kombucha in the “tropical” flavor
Fun fact: “red velvet” is just chocolate cake but dyed red! It’s very possible the cake is red velvet 🎂 the cake really is a lie, eh?

Snack report: boiled edamame and pineapple cookies :3
The baked alaska is my core memory at 13 years old.
The longer this video goes on the more I start to realize msot fetishes start in childhood. The way you talk about these pixels bruh BAHAHAHH
you did the burger so dirty
Snack report: double bacon bbq cheeseburger with onion rings and a tall ice cold cup of coke zero. I'm on a diet lmao
Chinese food is pretty similar where i live too…. But I can’t help but love it
Nothing wrong with loving what you love! Haha!
