Thanks for watching. They don't have the Soma Blind 2 anymore. They have the new Soma Blind 3 and Connect U1 that looks like it doesn't work with HomeKit, but it works with Siri Shortcuts.
Please share the vertical blind opener for kinds that use a rod to twist open/shut and push pull. Do you know of nothing that I could use to lift horizontal blinds as well as tilt as my blinds as blinds no longer have pull string. Muscular dystrophy makes raising arms to push them up to open very hard. Thanks, mjn
Hi, I didn't say vertical blinds with a twist rode. I said venetian blinds. Two differnt things. But since the veritical blinds are on a track, maybe look into the u-rail switchbot curtain. amzn.to/3XiSwJk It won't like the veritical blinds but it will slide them part of the way. Oviously since they are not tilted correctly, it won't open all the way. It's also not native to homekit yet, but hopefully that will come soon with the new matter hub they just announced.
i have vertical blinds but they dont have any cords just a wand and the windows are so deep that i find it hard to reach the wand as its pathetically short (so am i). no idea how to retrofit them either with something that doesn't cost hundreds.
Check out the SwitchBot curtains - www.switch-bot.com/products/switchbot-curtain?sca_ref=454054.QXMWtnJaQD& (affiliate link). You want to make sure you get the U rail or I rail depending on which type of rail you have and also keep in mind that these will only push/pull open/close your blinds. They will not tilt them (I'm not sure if you rod can twist to tilt the blinds but I've seen ones that do, and if they do, the switchbot curtain will not). I hope that helps.
I see that this video is a year old, so I don’t know if you’ll see this comment, but I just came across your video as I’ve been searching, without luck, to find a HomeKit compatible vertical blind automation hardware that works with the rod type of actuator. In this video you briefly mention it with this product. Do you have a video about it?
@@anthonyscott5134 I said venetian blinds, not vertical blinds. Two different things. The Soma Tilt is for Venetian blinds. But since you have track, look into the switchbot or aqara curtain motors for tracks. *If they fit your track*, you'll be able to slide the vertical blinds open but not all the way cause they are not tilted the correct way. *But check the tracks to make sure it will fit your track.* Also, Swithcbot is not native to homekit but hopefully it will be soon with its new matter hub that was recently announced.
Hub+bluetooth+beads+knots+charging sounds like too much hassle for me. Maybe you could solve your timing issue, without grouping, by making an automation with a shortcut including timing and delays in your order of preference.
You’re a genius! I love how creative you are and simple you keep your smart home. Love it!
Thank you! 😊
Mind. BLOWN!! I didn't even know about tilting the blinds before opening them. Another fantastic and super useful video, Eric. THank you!
Yep, that’s one issue with vertical blinds. Thanks Dustin.
Where to buy the kit
Great stuff Eric! Nice job!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for watching bro!
What vertical blinds headrail do you have? Mine has a rod, I need the chains.
These are really cool!! Great video!
Thanks Adam!
Hi, what is the make of these motors & where can I buy them. Thanks in advance.
Check description
Great video! Went to site and couldn't figure out how to order the product.

Awesome vid Eric! I wouldn’t have thought to pair 2 motors to get the tilt and open action together!
Thanks bro. I wasn't sure if it was going to work properly but it worked out perfectly! Now I just gotta get rid of the pink blinds. lol
thanks for the great intro!
Are you still happy with these? If I open and close them once a day do the batteries last a month?
were you using TWO SOMA Smart Shades 2 models; or a SOMA Smart Shades 2 and a SOMA Tilt 2?
Two SOMA Smart Shades. One for each string. All shown in the video.
What an awesome product!!! Great review 👍
Thanks Suzy!
DON'T BREAK THE BLINDS !!! Love it!
Thanks bro!

Yeah, I quit acting and now I do tech videos. 😂

I don't remember mentioning that so please let me know the time (i.g 00:00) in the video so I can clairify.

You never have to leave your seat!
That’s my goal! Lol
Exactly!!!!
If I only want to tilt my vertical blinds, do I need to install two Soma motors.
Just one
cool stuff. good review. 150€ for a DC motor is crazy though.

Cutting the rope only works with blinds that are not wider than the remaining rope. I hoped to see a product that can handle that.
Another killer review with some great ideas. I never thought about putting two of these motors together to open my blinds. Well done sir!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks rooobzsd6769, I appreciate you watching and commenting. What’s your favorite HomeKit product?
