Yeah, because before the fight, all that Jamie could say about Oberyn's fighting ability was basically, "aye, at least he believes in himself." Really goes to show how fighters like Jamie are only renowned as one of the greatest because they have known feats and others who can attest to their capabilities, but there are many like Oberyn whose abilities go under the radar because they aren't as well known even though they could rival the greatest duelists like Jamie.

My favourite part of this whole duel is that there are no stuntmen or doubles. Pedro Pascal actually learned wushu just to act Oberyn's moves and attacks. The man is hands down one of my favourite actors.
Just realized the moment he lost was when he actually looked up in excitement and locked eyes with his wife. Even circling around the Mountain he was keeping his eyes on him. That one split second of “look, we’re finally here, my sister will be avenged” was all it took for his life to slip away. So tragic
Exactly as Bronn described to Tyrion. Dancing around, tire him out, get him off his feet. But just one little slip, one small mistake and boom, it’s over.
Actually, we can see he makes an even bigger mistake after that. When he's on the ground, he immediately jumps on Mountain. That's when Mountain grabs him and holds him tight.
I love the fact that his next big role is gonna involve him getting his head bashed in by a Golf Club Pedro just can’t get any luck with the head, can he?
When Tywin does that hand gesture saying essentially “Let’s get on with it” during Pycelle’s doddering, tedious speech and he shuffles away kills me every time.
As brutal and tragic as Oberyn's death is , he did *win* in the end. In the books The Mountain admits to his crimes for all to hear, making Tywin look *really barbaric* , and dies a *very slow* and *very agonising* death due to the sheer amount of poison in his system. And in the show, he arguibly got it worse. He's basically a zombie, a shadow if what he used to be, a slave with minimal consciusness who's only function is to kill anyone he's ordered to. All the while likely suffering from the fact that his body is technically dead, kept alive by what we can only assume to be a mix of magic and alchemy.
Robert Strong is in my opinion Mountain as a zombie too. There's no way Cersei suddenly found a 7 feet tall monster-of-a-man just shortly after one such man died :D

Other lord like Mace Tyrell and Kevan Lannister find it a bit too odd that shortly after the Mountain’s “death” this giant man, who conveniently swears an oath of silence, just so happens to appear and take a place in the Kingsguard. Just in time to defend Cersei from the Faith Militant, by the way. So I think it’s safe to say that Robert Strong is the Mountain That Rides.
keep in mind not many in the seven kingdoms could go 1v1 against The Mountain. If he wasn`t blinded by anger and desire for revenge he it was as easy as walk in the park for Oberyn.

Ali/Foreman. Ali taunted Foreman and George blinded himself. Hell Joe Frazier was sitting on the side lines during the fight talking about it. Point being it's not easy to defeat rage, and the desire for vengeance. They are harder to beat than the Mountain. To me that was the whole point of the scene.
For a character who didn't have too many roles in GoT, he really stole my heart. He was definitely one of my favorite characters from GoT. After this, I couldn't wait to see Pedro Pascal acting in other roles. Now I'm watching The Last of Us and I absolutely love him in that show too. He's a phenomenal actor, such a hidden gem doing small roles his whole career and after GoT he really flourished. Can't wait to see him in movies in the future as well.
Oberyn's screams are so haunting. People have screamed in agony a lot in the show but the fact we know how strong he is, how competent and righteous he is makes the contrast of him screaming and thrashing uselessly so much greater.
its becuase his cuase was just and dispite his own history compared to everyone else he was a hero. He was brave, handsome and a rightous need for justice. Heros die but they dont die screaming in terror and that was what made this so truamatic to see and hear. i remember watching this before going to work i knew tyrion and aya were alive in the books and that was all, so i figured he would win and after he speared him i thought few. 10 minutes later i was driving to work with this voice repeating over and over." wtf just happened" lol
Jaime was a secret admirer of Great Fighters. He Admired the likes of his Mentors Ser Arthur Dayne / Barristan Selmy / The White Bull / Rhaeger Targaryen & the Blackfish greatly. No doubt he would have loved witnessing Oberyn's display.

Becoming one of the deadliest killers in the world in pursuit of his goal. So good that killing the mountain would have been trivial, he could've killed him the entire fight he so much as said it but his obsession with conspiracy and hatred toward the Lannisters got him killed.
Oberyn is my favorite character from this show. He was a free spirited person, full of passion and love. He had a massive sense of justice and morality combined with confidence and certainty. Sadly his strong desire for revenge made him reckless. One of the saddest deaths for sure.
The anger and Rage coming from Oberyn and the acting from Pedro is so spectacular in this scene, you really see him just let it all out, unfortunately though, this is Game of Thrones.

Rage blinded him in those moments and he left his guard down, but still totally human thing to do. Oberon is a passionate guy, it made sense that all the rage that was burning inside him and making his grievances public in front of the very people who were responsible…that passion ended up killing him.

I know it's sort of a side-point for how good this scene is on all levels, but holy shit the editing is amazing. Whoever cut this together was at the top of their game. Just look at how strategically it moves our attention from the fighters to the onlookers like Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Elaria, and Tywin - insanely well-cut fight scene. I'm sure the editor(s) put a lot of thought and work into how to bring this across, and it paid off.

I watched this season on a weekly basis. A week felt so long so I did a bad thing and went on the internet and spoiled myself. While watching this episode I knew Oberyn was gonna die. This scene was so beautifully choreographed that I was still shocked that he died.
The part that still sticks out to me the most is after seeing the Mountain get speared through the chest and Oberyn get his teeth knocked out, his eyeballs smushed, and his head explode.. Tywin Lannister calmly stood up and announced the sentencing - none of that fazed him even the slightest. One of the great characters and character portrayals ever

Damn he loved his sister, niece and nephew so much all that anger blinded him when he finally had their killer..so sad he got careless last second. He was level headed enough to win easily but got more emotional as the fight went on which caused his death. Gives me goose bumps every time

Actually me as a brother I would do the same thing as Oberyn Martell....like they killed my Sister and their children and obviously I wouldn't like to give him a fast death because all the horrible moments that my family member suffer in their death I would give it to him back but much painfully
People don't understand that Oberyn wasn't just looking to win. He needed the Mountain to confess and say that it was Tywin that gave him the order. That way he could then avenge his sisters death. Just killing the Mountain would mean he would never get the confirmation of his suspicions. Since Tywin is the only other one that knew that he gave the order.

The only time I watched this scene until the end, was the first time I watched it. I still remember the feeling in my stomach. Since then, I watched the fight over 30 times, but I always stop before the end know. And I'm 32, usually unfazed by violent scenes.

His death is brutal, and anyone with a shred of compassion would be sickened by how he went out, but it was also bad writing. People let their emotions at watching this guy die cloud their judgement of the writing.

I would like to believe that George R.R. Martin took inspiration from Lu Bu when creating Oberyn as the Red Viper. Obviously he is not _completely_ alike to him, but the way they both handle the spear with elegance and precision is truly something to behold.
This is one of the best set pieces in all of TV, let alone GOT. The way it drags you from surprising and energising triumph to sickening disaster is masterfully done, and it still shocks every time. A perfect synergy of action and emotion.
It’s also well done in with a good amount of build up about the Mountain, you might think Oberyn underestimated the Mountain/overestimated himself. But really he was in more or less total control of the fight and The Mountain wasn’t much of a match for him. He also wasn’t being stupid in not finishing the Mountain sooner, he wanted a confession to bring down Tywin and the Lannisters. And even if you think he was being stupid, wanting slowly extracted revenge for the brutal rape and murder of your sister and nieces makes since for a character acting “irrationally”.
Real recognize real. Jamie probably fights similar with speed, precision and evasive movement except with a sword. Jamie also claims he could of defeated the mountain and the hound and I kind of believe him.
In his recent Hot Ones interview Pedro Pascal talks about this scene and how it felt having his head crushed in like that, and I can't help but think of it rewatching this now. It was so hot while they filmed, and he had to be perfectly still. They poured a bucket of film blood-goop and viscera all over his face, but it was so cool compared to the hot air he said it was very soothing and he fell into the deepest and most relaxing sleep he's ever experienced.
I remember watching this when it first aired, and it was the first time the death of a character genuinely left me nauseated and feeling completely off balance. To see righteous judgement moments from fruition, only for the wicked to prevail all the same, it hurts the spirit.
Not sure if this was deliberate but when Gregor does confess, he alters the order of the atrocities he did. Oberyn kept saying Gregor raped and killed Elia then he killed the children after, Gregor corrects him saying he killed the children first. This is terrifying when you realise Elia went through such an awful experience while having her children's deaths on her mind.

This scene is the best scene in the series for me Starting with a surprise when Tyrion chooses trial by combat, then his sister Gregor Clegane presents Joffrey's supporter. Oberyn chooses to be Tyrion's supporter, and Oberyn's skills are amazing.I have never seen anyone fight with a spear like Oberyn 👏👏👏
I loved oberyn. He was kind, honorable, and a great father and person. He was extremely intelligent and was an incredible fighter. Sadly, in the GoT world, those qualities only ensure one’s death. I was very sad when I saw his fate (and horrified) but mostly due to not being able to see him on screen anymore… and the whole skull being crushed thing.
Honorable? No, he wanted revenge not justice, Ned stark would've never died while taunting someone , he would passed the sentence and executed it right away ... Oberyn was loyal and loving, but an honorable man...he is not...he is a man of reason not honor
Yes the honorable red viper... who was given this nickname bc he was caught sleeping with another lords wife and challenged to a duel of first blood. They both suffered cuts and basically called it even and over the next week while Oberyn was healed his opponent grew sicker and weaker with each passing day until his eventual death (due to the "honorable" Oberyn poisoning his blade prior to their duel
I rewatch this scene, and yell at Oberyn, "Just walk over to Tywinn, and stand there waiting for him to declare victory. Taunt the Mountain from a safe distance". It never works.
Seeing this on TV was absolutely insane. At first, you think "Oberyn's acting too cocky, he's gonna die." Then the fight happens, and the whole time you're more and more certain that Oberyn's going to pull it off. Oberyn wins the fight, mortally wounding Clegane. Jaime smiling down at Tyrion confirms it; The Red Viper has bested The Mountain in single combat. Then as Oberyn taunts Clegane, the viewers expression follows Tyrion's; not uncertainty about the result, but more a growing sense of urgency. In a split-second, Oberyn is on his back, and the Mountain grabs him. His teeth are punched out, but for a second you still cling to that feeling that Oberyn will pull out the victory, how could they kill Tyrion? Even as you watch the Mountain's fingers puncture Oberyn's eyes, it doesn't feel real. I remember thinking in that moment, "Oberyn's gonna pull a dagger, they're just changing his character, he's gonna survive..." *SMASH* Oberyn's skull explodes, and there's no question; Oberyn is dead and Tyrion will die too. The feeling after this episode was so gut-wrenching.
I watched this scene before I even watched the show bc my friend was watching it their house and I was kinda tuning in then I was glued to the Tv for this whole fight and was so sure that the underdog would win

Man I will always love Jamie's reaction throughout this fight. From when he realizes Oberyn has some real skill and could actually win to when he has seemingly won and Jamie is just pleasantly shocked at what's happened.
This was beyond a shadow of a doubt one of the most horrific death scenes of the show. With that being said, the little Baratheon girl being burned alive has to be second. Hearing her screaming while being roasted is not easily foregettable
the look on cersei's face when oberyn is brutally killed is bone-chilling. and the way she gleefully glances over at tyrion, as tywin coldly states what is to become of him is the cherry on top of this haunting scene. both of them didn't even flinch. i see where joffrey got his sadistic nature from. sadism runs deep in the lannister blood.
One of the best scenes in the entire show, and by far the best fight/dual. I also loved watching Jamie's expressions. He was genuinely impressed and having a great time watching Oberyn fight, and kick the Mountain's butt. And the distress in his face when the fight was over was quite noticeable.
Also notice how uncomfortable Tywin gets as Oberyn dominates the mountain. Clegane was Tywin's stooge and seeing him die must have caused more than irritation to Tywin.

I think this is my second favorite. My favorite by far is The Hound vs Brienne. It wasn't a fight we ever expected which makes it that much more exciting to watch.

It's 2024 and I am watching this fight again, safe to say that it's my favorite fight in the whole series, apart from Oberyn's death and it's also interesting to observe Jaime, he is legitimately so happy when he thinks Oberyn won, he can barely contain himself.
In my opinion, he's not smiling at Oberyn's skills. Yes, he seems surprised at how well Oberyn is fighting, but I think he smiles because he believes Tyrion has a chance to live. Jamie always cared for his brother and I think he showed it in this scene so well and in contrast with his sister and father who wanted Tyrion dead.
Tywin is just as much a monster as The Mountain. The fact he could watch all that transpired and not even flinch. And the fact he gave Gregor the order to kill Elia Martell and her children just shows much a monster he is too.
Except he didn't order to mountain to kill Elia. Just her children, as Robert would have anyway as well. Elia's rape & death is just Mountain going rouge.
In the books Tywin is shocked by the violent ways used to kill Elia’s children but still, he was the one to order their murder so he’s a monster as well

He accepted it and was happy with it when he was being presented with the bodies, but he likely wouldn’t have personally ordered their deaths. The Robert we see is after 15 years of being forced to sit on the throne he didn’t want, trapped in a terrible marriage, and becoming bitter while watching his physique slip away.

What I like about this scene is the fact, that Oberyn unlike the others isn't even intimidated by the Mountain and is fearless, his agility and skill with the spear is amazing. Pedro Pascal nailed it as Oberyn, I was mad too, how he left his guard open and died, but he left a scar on the Mountain and the Mountain did confess to the stuff Oberyn wanted him to confess about Infront of everyone, so in a way Oberyn did win.
I remember perfectly how I reacted to this like 6 years ago… It was sooo awesome to see the Viper dominate the Mountain and outmaneuver him with ease. But the second oberyn didn’t kill him immediately, but wanted him to confess, I felt uneasy. I’m such a calm person, but when he got grabbed, I had to smash my fists on the table in anger and disbelief :D
He didn't have him on the fence if he had gone in to win he would have put his spear through his head after knocking his helmet off he was playing with him and it cost him everything

the annoying thing about this show is that the good characters lose because they're written to be stupid. But when the bad people do stupid things it just works out even more for them.
Pascal is a wonderful actor, and he gave many layers to such a tragic character. His arrogance leads to rage, but, to the very end, he is a masterful fighter. You can see immediately he realizes his mistake as soon as his teeth were knocked out. All it took was a single glance at his wife and boom. Done. The fact that his screams of agony and panicked struggling are what see him go out sickens me. Brutal but great scene.

Yeah, because before the fight, all that Jamie could say about Oberyn's fighting ability was basically, "aye, at least he believes in himself." Really goes to show how fighters like Jamie are only renowned as one of the greatest because they have known feats and others who can attest to their capabilities, but there are many like Oberyn whose abilities go under the radar because they aren't as well known even though they could rival the greatest duelists like Jamie.

When Tywin does that hand gesture saying essentially “Let’s get on with it” during Pycelle’s doddering, tedious speech and he shuffles away kills me every time.
The funniest part is Pycelle still being in those trashy robes too large for his body. I'd figure he'd have on a little nicer for public occasions.
As brutal and tragic as Oberyn's death is , he did *win* in the end.
In the books The Mountain admits to his crimes for all to hear, making Tywin look *really barbaric* , and dies a *very slow* and *very agonising* death due to the sheer amount of poison in his system.
And in the show, he arguibly got it worse. He's basically a zombie, a shadow if what he used to be, a slave with minimal consciusness who's only function is to kill anyone he's ordered to. All the while likely suffering from the fact that his body is technically dead, kept alive by what we can only assume to be a mix of magic and alchemy.

Mountain literally taught the meaning of Never let your guard down in a fight to the whole audience.
For a character who didn't have too many roles in GoT, he really stole my heart. He was definitely one of my favorite characters from GoT. After this, I couldn't wait to see Pedro Pascal acting in other roles. Now I'm watching The Last of Us and I absolutely love him in that show too. He's a phenomenal actor, such a hidden gem doing small roles his whole career and after GoT he really flourished. Can't wait to see him in movies in the future as well.

Oberyn's screams are so haunting. People have screamed in agony a lot in the show but the fact we know how strong he is, how competent and righteous he is makes the contrast of him screaming and thrashing uselessly so much greater.
its becuase his cuase was just and dispite his own history compared to everyone else he was a hero. He was brave, handsome and a rightous need for justice. Heros die but they dont die screaming in terror and that was what made this so truamatic to see and hear.

The anger and Rage coming from Oberyn and the acting from Pedro is so spectacular in this scene, you really see him just let it all out, unfortunately though, this is Game of Thrones.

Ironically, the Viper had a classic “bad guy” death, talking and gloating when he should have finished off his opponent.

Rage blinded him in those moments and he left his guard down, but still totally human thing to do. Oberon is a passionate guy, it made sense that all the rage that was burning inside him and making his grievances public in front of the very people who were responsible…that passion ended up killing him.

I know it's sort of a side-point for how good this scene is on all levels, but holy shit the editing is amazing. Whoever cut this together was at the top of their game. Just look at how strategically it moves our attention from the fighters to the onlookers like Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Elaria, and Tywin - insanely well-cut fight scene. I'm sure the editor(s) put a lot of thought and work into how to bring this across, and it paid off.

I watched this season on a weekly basis. A week felt so long so I did a bad thing and went on the internet and spoiled myself. While watching this episode I knew Oberyn was gonna die. This scene was so beautifully choreographed that I was still shocked that he died.
The part that still sticks out to me the most is after seeing the Mountain get speared through the chest and Oberyn get his teeth knocked out, his eyeballs smushed, and his head explode.. Tywin Lannister calmly stood up and announced the sentencing - none of that fazed him even the slightest. One of the great characters and character portrayals ever

People don't understand that Oberyn wasn't just looking to win. He needed the Mountain to confess and say that it was Tywin that gave him the order. That way he could then avenge his sisters death.
Just killing the Mountain would mean he would never get the confirmation of his suspicions. Since Tywin is the only other one that knew that he gave the order.

The only time I watched this scene until the end, was the first time I watched it. I still remember the feeling in my stomach. Since then, I watched the fight over 30 times, but I always stop before the end know. And I'm 32, usually unfazed by violent scenes.

His death is brutal, and anyone with a shred of compassion would be sickened by how he went out, but it was also bad writing. It’s also well done in with a good amount of build up about the Mountain, you might think Oberyn underestimated the Mountain/overestimated himself. But really he was in more or less total control of the fight and The Mountain wasn’t much of a match for him.
He also wasn’t being stupid in not finishing the Mountain sooner, he wanted a confession to bring down Tywin and the Lannisters. And even if you think he was being stupid, wanting slowly extracted revenge for the brutal rape and murder of your sister and nieces makes since for a character acting “irrationally”.

In his recent Hot Ones interview Pedro Pascal talks about this scene and how it felt having his head crushed in like that, and I can't help but think of it rewatching this now. It was so hot while they filmed, and he had to be perfectly still. They poured a bucket of film blood-goop and viscera all over his face, but it was so cool compared to the hot air he said it was very soothing and he fell into the deepest and most relaxing sleep he's ever experienced.
I remember watching this when it first aired, and it was the first time the death of a character genuinely left me nauseated and feeling completely off balance. To see righteous judgement moments from fruition, only for the wicked to prevail all the same, it hurts the spirit.

Not sure if this was deliberate but when Gregor does confess, he alters the order of the atrocities he did. Oberyn kept saying Gregor raped and killed Elia then he killed the children after, Gregor corrects him saying he killed the children first.
This is terrifying when you realise Elia went through such an awful experience while having her children's deaths on her mind.

I loved oberyn. He was kind, honorable, and a great father and person. He was extremely intelligent and was an incredible fighter. Sadly, in the GoT world, those qualities only ensure one’s death. I was very sad when I saw his fate (and horrified) but mostly due to not being able to see him on screen anymore… and the whole skull being crushed thing.

Yes the honorable red viper... who was given this nickname bc he was caught sleeping with another lords wife and challenged to a duel of first blood. They both suffered cuts and basically called it even and over the next week while Oberyn was healed his opponent grew sicker and weaker with each passing day until his eventual death (due to the "honorable" Oberyn poisoning his blade prior to their duel
I rewatch this scene, and yell at Oberyn, "Just walk over to Tywinn, and stand there waiting for him to declare victory. Taunt the Mountain from a safe distance".

Seeing this on TV was absolutely insane.
At first, you think "Oberyn's acting too cocky, he's gonna die."
Then the fight happens, and the whole time you're more and more certain that Oberyn's going to pull it off.
Oberyn wins the fight, mortally wounding Clegane. Jaime smiling down at Tyrion confirms it; The Red Viper has bested The Mountain in single combat.
Then as Oberyn taunts Clegane, the viewers expression follows Tyrion's; not uncertainty about the result, but more a growing sense of urgency.
In a split-second, Oberyn is on his back, and the Mountain grabs him. His teeth are punched out, but for a second you still cling to that feeling that Oberyn will pull out the victory, how could they kill Tyrion?
Even as you watch the Mountain's fingers puncture Oberyn's eyes, it doesn't feel real. I remember thinking in that moment, "Oberyn's gonna pull a dagger, they're just changing his character, he's gonna survive..."
*SMASH*
Oberyn's skull explodes, and there's no question; Oberyn is dead and Tyrion will die too.
The feeling after this episode was so gut-wrenching.

Man I will always love Jamie's reaction throughout this fight. From when he realizes Oberyn has some real skill and could actually win to when he has seemingly won and Jamie is just pleasantly shocked at what's happened.
This was beyond a shadow of a doubt one of the most horrific death scenes of the show. With that being said, the little Baratheon girl being burned alive has to be second. Hearing her screaming while being roasted is not easily foregettable

and the way she gleefully glances over at tyrion, as tywin coldly states what is to become of him is the cherry on top of this haunting scene.

One of the best scenes in the entire show, and by far the best fight/dual. I also loved watching Jamie's expressions. He was genuinely impressed and having a great time watching Oberyn fight, and kick the Mountain's butt. And the distress in his face when the fight was over was quite noticeable.
Also notice how uncomfortable Tywin gets as Oberyn dominates the mountain. Clegane was Tywin's stooge and seeing him die must have caused more than irritation to Tywin.

Agreed. As a former top-tier fighter himself, I think Jaime was able to appreciate Oberyn's skill to a much higher degree than anyone else in the audience. There were times in the scene where he looked even more excited than Tyrion.
I think this is my second favorite. My favorite by far is The Hound vs Brienne. It wasn't a fight we ever expected which makes it that much more exciting to watch.
Yeah guy gets eviscerated twice by a spear and survives with enough strength to kill the spearman, truly great show, much logic such wow.

Oberyn died because he let his emotions get the best of him. The mountain was too slow for him. Oberyn could win with ease

It's 2024 and I am watching this fight again, safe to say that it's my favorite fight in the whole series, apart from Oberyn's death and it's also interesting to observe Jaime, he is legitimately so happy when he thinks Oberyn won, he can barely contain himself.

In my opinion, he's not smiling at Oberyn's skills. Yes, he seems surprised at how well Oberyn is fighting, but I think he smiles because he believes Tyrion has a chance to live. Jamie always cared for his brother and I think he showed it in this scene so well and in contrast with his sister and father who wanted Tyrion dead.

The most impactful part of this fight for me is when mountain punches him and his teeth go skittering across the floor. Absolute chills.

Tywin is just as much a monster as The Mountain. The fact he could watch all that transpired and not even flinch. And the fact he gave Gregor the order to kill Elia Martell and her children just shows much a monster he is too.
Except he didn't order to mountain to kill Elia. Just her children, as Robert would have anyway as well.

There isn’t much to indicate Robert would’ve ordered their deaths. He accepted it and was happy with it when he was being presented with the bodies, but he likely wouldn’t have personally ordered their deaths.
The Robert we see is after 15 years of being forced to sit on the throne he didn’t want, trapped in a terrible marriage, and becoming bitter while watching his physique slip away.
@@drewnash8113 Uhhh no he absolutely would have killed them. The Dagonspawn line is enough to permanently smother any sympathies for Robert. That Ned betrayed him by hiding Jon's existence from him says all that needs to be said.
What I like about this scene is the fact, that Oberyn unlike the others isn't even intimidated by the Mountain and is fearless, his agility and skill with the spear is amazing. Pedro Pascal nailed it as Oberyn, I was mad too, how he left his guard open and died, but he left a scar on the Mountain and the Mountain did confess to the stuff Oberyn wanted him to confess about Infront of everyone, so in a way Oberyn did win.
Nah bro, his entire broodline died in the next few seasons. Meanwhile, the Lannister name survives through Tyrion.

But the second oberyn didn’t kill him immediately, but wanted him to confess, I felt uneasy.

He didn't have him on the fence if he had gone in to win he would have put his spear through his head after knocking his helmet off he was playing with him and it cost him everything

@@deannas2778 again not trying to be a ass but he wasn't cocky he know he was one of the best fighters in the seven kingdoms he had fought in the slave/gladiator pits on the free city's he had been in fights that weren't for spot they were to the death it's his anger that cost him you see it build he starts out strong but as the mountain refuses to admit his crims he becomes wilder not thinking right till he lets his guard drop and gets to close

the annoying thing about this show is that the good characters lose because they're written to be stupid. But when the bad people do stupid things it just works out even more for them.
Pascal is a wonderful actor, and he gave many layers to such a tragic character. His arrogance leads to rage, but, to the very end, he is a masterful fighter. You can see immediately he realizes his mistake as soon as his teeth were knocked out. All it took was a single glance at his wife and boom. Done. The fact that his screams of agony and panicked struggling are what see him go out sickens me. Brutal but great scene.
