Development started to get too crunched near the end. Burst Limit was unfinished, and clearly had a sequel planned, and it also came out before DLC was an established thing with that gen. IW was also clearly rushed form how unbalanced it was but, it was an attempted because the ai was a lot more challenging, competent, and actually did combos compared to standard Budokai games.
But Burst Limit was much faster than Budokai 3 and IW. But if it had the same mechanics and the fastness of Burst Limit it would be a very very good DBZ game
@@SparkingMeteor the only part of this I disagree with is the the speed. I’ve played a lot of infinite world and I can honestly say it’s faster than both Budokai 3 and Burst Limit
@@Thebinsonn I think you are wrong there man. The combos are a lot more unique and come out quicker on burst limit. Infinite world is at the same speed as bd3 , there is literally not a difference there other than a few mechanics. Burst limit allows you to instantly use super moves if you burn a little meter. It also have heavy blows and the instant ki wave. Not to mention burst limit just overall feels more fluid than any of the budokai series. The only reason it’s not better is because it’s lacking in content.
@@SparkingMeteor My only problem with Burst Limit was the HUD. I love the gameplay, its very smooth and based on Shin Budokai (good idea) but, man the HUD took up way too much of the screen compared to Budokai 3 (that also made the HUD look like a scouter and it broke when you beat someone or lose.) It was very anime-like back then.
@@Treywave4146 I liked Burst limit because it felt as fast as the anime should be and it counter hits were very snappy and immediate. Its an underrated game.
Thank you for showing this game love. The budokai series are the best dragon ball z games of all time! The fighting style is perfect. Burst limit and Infinite world where the end to an awesome series that deserves a return! Tenkaichi is getting a revival, hopefully Budokai does too. Awesome review!
Burst limit wasn't the last budokai infinite world was. Even though they were only 5 months apart in 2008. And dragonball evolution for the psp came out 2009.
I had hope that there will be Burst Limit 2 since the game was decently good and it was missing Buu Saga. But all budokai games had problem with infinite comobs, which was a tek where you was doing combo then doing charged attack but cancel it and repeat the combo, and do that infinitly to your opponent when he didn't had energy to teleport from combo, which was realy broken and it should not be in those games.
I'm still hoping for the original Budokai combat style to come back... The Tenkaichi trilogy was great. Xenoverse was cool. Super Dragon Ball Z was fun, but I'm not a fan of anything else. FighterZ and anything continuing the Tenkaichi style like Xenoverse, etc. has grown stale. The best was Budokai 2 & 3 for me.
This is such a misinformed, nonsensical, video. No, its NOT reasonable to even have anywhere near close to all the sagas or all the characters from previous games. The previous games had the luxary of building off what came before. This game didn't. Budgets exist. Time exists. This game was way way more expensive than previous games. And with nothing to build off of, there was no way. "cartoon style of a North America trend." Wtf are you talking about? Hahaha. What?
very disappointing that the first DBZ game on PS3 had to have so few characters and being a 2d fighters. To me it was the start of fall for Dragon Ball games. They became worse and worse.
To me this is still the best looking Dragon Ball game other than FighterZ
Sparling 0/Tenkaichi 4 now

Burst Limit was fun as hell tho
Burst Limit is far from mediocre, it’s better than every other Budokai game except 3. Literally its only problem is the lack of post-Cell content.
@@EWOODJ Shin Budokai? Lol, you have fun with that.
@@TheReelReesePodShin Budokai over B3? What is that guy on?

Burst limit was my first ever dragon ball game. It still to this day has my favorite intro to any game, next to mk Armageddon!! This game is beautiful
Besides Raging Blast 2. This game was one of the best DBZ games we got in the PS3 era.
If infinite world had been next gen with same engine as burst limit it would be a top 3 dragon ball game of all time

I agree I really liked the whole board game type thing they did in Budokai 2 it's very different. And obviously Budokai 3 was alot smoother.
Yeah. Budokai was the more Tekken-like DBZ game while FighterZ is closer to Street Fighter. The Budokai community has been forgotten about.
I mean if were being Honest, the last budokai game was dragon ball evolution, came out 1 year after infinity world
