Ended up calling that number, the original scammers didn’t even ask me to do a teamviewer, just asked me to pay up $200 to “fix” my virtual machine. Told him no and he hung up.
I called the number in a panick, they just told me to turn it off and turn it back on.

My mother just got hit by this. She's not a stupid person, far from it, but she's not of the computer generation... so her immediate thought was, the warning is real. I had to take a moment to get across to her that the entire warning was fake. It hits people like that, because it gets them in a state of panic and they don't think critically about it - I guess bad news is so easy to believe, it doesn't occur to them that the bad news itself... is the bad news.
This is true, my grandma just got this pop-up and I am having to try and explain it to her.
My mom just got it yesterday and even after just watching the movie the bee keeper which is about this scam and getting told by her watch group about this she was going to call them REALLY 😒
Doesn't help when it comes with a loud, blaring beeping sound!

Imagine someone calling this scam numbers and saying "You have reached the Microsoft Fraud Detection Department. For answering this call, you helped us detect your exact location. To speak with a representative, please press 1."
I’ll do it right now I got the number it just happened to my pops as I’m typing this so my pops and I both are gonna call just to take up their time like the did ours

I've run into these pages before, but they never did the fullscreen part. When you get a screen like this and it covers your entire screen, press F11.
Or try to find the hidden exit fullscreen button when your mouse is absent lol

i dont think the telephone number is "dead" rather i think that phone number was their "front" (aka a way to hide their illegal activity by providing legitimate business which in this case mightve been travel office or something of soft) i simply think they just messed up and put the incorrect number there or they forgot to put "tech support" to the menu

I remember when I used to get these browser locking popups the easiest thing to do was click enter to close to dialog and the click the X on the browser as fast as possible until it closed

I remember my mom got one of these and my dad had to help get rid of it. I have no idea how she got it, but she had her volume up extremely high so the message was absurdly loud.
This is the classic variant. There nowadays are even more variants which tries to install signed malware onto yout system, millking even more money out of you!

It is a badly made website, as I visited the website with my phone, the same thing happened, but the funny thing is when I sized the website to its smallet size, the text duplicated. Anyways good video

Hey, can you talk about the "Windows logon reminder" scam? It pops up at random times, and asks you to change your password because "your password is expired". The notification is so convincing, I thought it was real for a second.

This happened today to us! I knew it was a scam, but appreciate this video. Also this is listed as a scam on Google. I can't believe you're getting all those ads on hold!!!!
It may be a pay per call scam where the scammers are getting paid for each one of those calls

This scam is still going on today. Bumped into it, restarted my comp and running 3 different anti-virus just in case.
i remember going on one of these sites by accident, i still figured out how to close it without watching a video

It actually feels sad because many people do not know about the internet alot and is very uneducated about the the dark sides this often happens to young people aswell
If we say stuff like this and think like this, then it would benefit the scammers. The victims would be scared to talk out and warn people.
You are not immune to scams, and it can happen to you, it doesn't matter if you are a bright genius, it just takes one bad or tired day to fall for it
I got this but actually did lock up all my access to my antivirus and windows security settings. Cant get into them. What do I do?
Me too. It also downloaded a device (I could see it on my taskbar) and when I did a shut down and rebooted in Safe mode my Device and Printers page looked different. Plus, the MS flag there had a warning symbol and when I clicked on it (still in Safe Mode) it said my Malwarebytes, MS Malicious Removal tool and two others were shut down. I clicked turn on for all and they sat in a Pending mode until I did a System Restore to an earlier time. Running MWB and MSMRT showed nothing though. Still makes me nervous but I knew not to call any numbers the popup had been giving me.
if your ctrl+w doesnt work (mine didn't when this link was open) you can also press ctrl+alt+delete and open task manager, and force quit the browder. then clear ur cache and history after

I am using GNU/Linux on my computer and I got the same message. A webpage telling a Linux user to call Windows support, that gives it away.
what i did was i pressed inspect and deleted some stuff and somehow i got to press leave full screen and i just left it

how to fix : press and hold power button and when it turns on and this is still on your screen, press the esc button

Hi thank you so much for making this :) the website forced itself into full screen and I couldn’t get out of it. I turned it off and it was still there and I did it again and it was gone. I wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do.. everything seems fine on my computer but is there anything else I need to do ?😭❤️

I was able to call the number and when they asked for my age I answered and they said they couldn’t help me and hung up 💀
Imagine destroying the scammer computer with Sulfoxide.exe
That same Scam window popped up on my computer today. I didn't click anything fearing it was a virus trying to hijack & get into my computer, and i didn't call the number either.
Instead, I unplugged my computer and then plugged it back in and restarted it and ran an AVG virus scan and it didn't have any viruses.
To fix locked Screen: (On my Computer: I turned OFF WiFi, deleted Google History, restarted computer, turned ON WiFi). Done
I called it and it just said "All circuits are busy"

No lol. It's just a website trying to scam you. Ctrl+W (or sometimes Alt+F4) closes the tab, thus getting rid of the scammy message.
