Pikmin 2 is a 2004 real-time strategy video game developed and published by Nintendo for the GameCube video game console. It focuses on exploring the surface of an unknown planet from a microscopic perspective, where the player directs and delegates tasks to a horde of tiny plant-like creatures called Pikmin.

I would say that since Purple and White pikmin are naturally in a underground habitat, we need to conduct one on underground species.

It's actually kinda cool that the enemies are programmed to attack the more common pikmin in a crowd first. I would've thought that the purple pikmin would taste better though since the purple candy pop buds release an oil that smells and tastes good according to the captains

Actually, it depends on what Pikmin what you take out first. For example, if you took out the reds first, they will be the ones first to die.
i really like the variety you try to implement, i find these type of videos more entertaining and the length of the videos compliments this, keep up the good work!

there's probably some gameplay reasons for these pikmin preferences among enemies.
Red pikmin are your first pikmin and as such are the most likely for the average player to have a lot of, so enemies single them out in order to minimize damage to the pikmin numbers as a whole. they are also the least useful, and you can probably beat the game using them as little as possible. Yellows and blues are needed to go certain places and you probably couldn't beat the game (or even clear your debt) without them, making them more important than red pikmin, although you can get a lot of them as well. there's more water in the game than electricity, which would explain the enemy's slight preference to them. purples and whites are rare, only being found 5 at a time in dungeons by using the uncommon Ivory and violet candypop buds and can't reproduce naturally due to their lack of an onion, so the game makes enemies attack them as little as possible. White pikmin poison enemies, softening the blow of one getting eaten, so the enemies will go after them over the defenseless and rare purple pikmin.
it could be based on their potential power as well, Reds make the best fighters so killing the best fighters first is a good idea, thou this would make me think Purple Pikmin would be higher on the list (thou most of their fighting power is from being thrown)
I doubt it has anything to do with that, more like just standard in-game priority. Whichever Pikmin are loaded first into the Squad are the ones that are likely to be eaten - If Reds are called out from the Onion first, they'll likely be the first to die, if Whites are called out first, they'll die first, etc. That being said, when there isn't considered a "first" list - like when a bunch of Pikmin types enter a cave/area, Blues are typically loaded first, because the Pikmin ID list goes from Blues, Reds, Yellows, Whites, and Purples - to which means Blues are more likely to die.
Interestingly enough, general in-game lore puts Blues as the 'tastiest' - as they're the ones who are almost always seen near extinction in each game, with their Onion being desolate and abandoned - with the only exception being Pikmin 2.

This was actually very interesting. I would love to see further research into this subject. Some potential variables to test: Do different types of beasts have different tastes? Does the same species of beast but different individuals have the same taste? Does the region which the beast is in affect its taste? Would it choose differently should the number of pikmin of each sort be uneven (e.g. 30 red, 10 yellow, 15 blue, 10 white, 35 purple)?
I would love to see someone do this.
In Pikmin 2, it’s based on the loading order of the pikmin. In this video, the red pikmin were loaded first, so the burrowing snagret checked through the list of pikmin, then selected the first in its attack hitbox, which was red, them being loaded first.
What I'm curious about is, do different creatures have different tastes? Like if you took your gang to one of those ladybug things would they eat the pikimin in the same order?

From My own experience in pikmin 2 the enemies prefer to eat blues, but only in caves where i would need blues for a treasure and they would die all the time so i would need to do the cave a second time

This was one of my favorite games when I was younger
I did a similar experiment with 20 of each Pikmin against Lots of bulborb larvae (And by that I mean I like watching the Pikmin try to fight hopelessly against stupid babies until they both die) and the fastest type to die was blue Pikmin, along with lots of other reports which tell the same information by Lots of other people.

I guessed blue before hand because they would taste like water but even though they taste like pizza I think that blue still wins.
After conducting my own experiment i have reached this. Conclusion:
Red: spicy taste (gets spicier the more developed the leaf is)
Yellow: sour taste (variates from lemon-like to orange-like depending on the stage of the leaf)
Blue: has a watery feel with a bit of blueberry (the more developed the leaf the stronger the blueberry taste)
White: tastes like a very fatty bacon (the healthiness gets lower when the leaf gets more developed)
Purple: tastes like aubergine/eggplant
Bulbmin: tastes like a very basically cooked chicken breast
Winged: tastes like chicken with sweet and sour sauce (the more developed the leaf the stronger the sauce)
Rock: has a very salty taste (saltiness gets stronger depending on the fandom)
Fun fact: the wikipedia said the blue pikmin are the best tasted
