Stoked for you man! These look and sound crisp. I think I’m addicted to that new gear feeling 😂 Very keen to hear how these sound recording some drums.
Min 15:20 had me ROFL! 😂 Rob- Does this mean you might start doing some ASMR videos? 😆 Awesome mic! I’m guessing it might be used on the upcoming ELITE album? ❤
I have the AKG 414XLii matched set as well. They get used on every session. Such a usable tool and a studio staple for a reason. So many polar patterns, pad, dual diaphragm, etc… piano, drum overheads, mid side, blumline, vocals…. Etc. huge value.
@@RobArnoldWorld A few ideas like testing out the microphones with lets say Mark singing into them ? Test them out to see how far away you can stand when your playing your guitar to see if they will still be able to pickup the same sound ? Place them a different room/rooms ?
Hey Rob, congrats on those mics… just one advise, don’t connect/disconnect the mic with phantom power on cause you can blow it, with the cost of those you better take the precautions… The roll off will help you if you want to control proximity effect or have rumble on your studio, if you don’t, then better leave it off.
These microphones are among my favourites for guitar cabs, sadly out of my price range. They play really nicely with Celestion V30 and Eminence Legend.
To my amateur ears, the AKG seem to be more sensitive and precise. The Samson sound just fine but maybe slightly “grainy” but only noticeable after hearing the clarity of the AKG.
I isolated the individual microphones in post. So that means yes they were recording simultaneously, but I was able to mute individual signals while editing the video.

That morning drive part was hilarious 😂
I have a AKG C414 B-ULS and I use it for everything. They are not so popular anymore, but these are still great microphones.
Sweet! Happy new gear day 🤘🏻
🤘
Nice mics! Cool video Rob!
🍻
Stoked for you man! These look and sound crisp. I think I’m addicted to that new gear feeling 😂 Very keen to hear how these sound recording some drums.
Thanks brother!
He is one of the reason why i do love heavy music. The new wave of american heavy metal area like chimaira 🤘❤️.Rob you are AWESOME.

Awesome mic!

Ha! I always thought I'd enjoy being a radio DJ, given the opportunity! And yessir Todd... the new Elite is on the way! 🙌
@@RobArnoldWorld HELL YEAH!
I have all Audix close mics on my studio kit and Lewitt overheads and some pencil mics for hi hats and ride. Gets it done!

Nice!
This video comes at a great time for me haha
SO HYPE TO SEE YALL AT ROCKVILLE , these mics have insane range, the low-end was really taking a seat in my headphones
🤘
Wouldn’t be my first choice for drum overheads but fantastic set of mics you can pretty much do ANYTHING with. Congrats 🥂
I think there needs to be a part 2 to this video ?
Oh yeah Darron? What did you have in mind bro?

@@RobArnoldWorldI’m not Daron, but video with some 4x12 cab and nice hi gain will be cool on this mic!

Thanks for the tips!
Solid radio voice man 😄
You ever tried the mics from Lewitt? I've heard they're great as well, especially the LCT440.
I have not tried Lewitt mics, but I've also heard good things!
These microphones are among my favourites for guitar cabs, sadly out of my price range. They play really nicely with Celestion V30 and Eminence Legend.
Cool! I'm looking forward to trying one out on a cab!
@@RobArnoldWorld I'm hopeful, you'll tape it and upload it.
I use C01 mics. They're amazing!
The Samson C01 sounds really good for a $50 mic
I agree! After getting into the edit for this vid, and hearing the Samson in this scenario, I was more impressed by it than I thought I'd be!
To my amateur ears, the AKG seem to be more sensitive and precise. The Samson sound just fine but maybe slightly “grainy” but only noticeable after hearing the clarity of the AKG.
I couldn't have described it better myself!
Elite recording eh 🤔😁
Yessir!🤘
But you had the portable mic ON while you were testing the other ones. Didn't that affect or like contribute to how they sounded?
