Martin Crowe was a superb player who scored a lot of runs in Australia. He averaged 68 in the 8 tests he played in Australia. I still remember his 188 in the game where Hadlee got 9-52 in the first innings in Brisbane in 1985.

Cook 2010-11 before Peterson. New ball down under is the hardest part. SG ahead of Kohli for the same reason, but for the fact cricket is a team sport, and a great batsman also lifts the whole team to WIN. Which is why Crowe must be in it, NZ is a small player, to win in Australia (even against the worst Australia) isn't easy. SG and SRT probably equal, they never won, but came with weak teams and SRT was effectively facing the new ball, always.

Tendulkar, KP absolutely because of the confidence and aggro he brought with him, as a batsman. Richards would also make it on my list. The last one I would pick would be Sangakkara as I saw him hit a huge 100 against a very good pace attack, all this with absolute class and time to place his shot. The rest of his teammates were falling like ninepins ! I’m also surprised why VVS is not on this list but then you would have e too many Indians 😅! Virat Kohli did well against moderate bowling attacks and when chasing. Not sure what happens to him in several first innings when he isn't chasing a target ,but is facing a top quality bowling attack. Furthermore, he simply lost his ability to hit good onside shots over mid-on consistently over the years, or simply was coached increasingly badly over time! Has the talent but a player who needs to listen and to be coached with clarity and options, once his vulnerabilities became know thro computer assisted graphics and analytics. Also, his intensity has gotten in the way, as he has aged - that needs to be tempered down also so that he score to his potential.

@ Too old to coach now. Also, I feel his arrogance is not allowing him to leave the wide outside off deliveries. The opposition just has to bowl on the 5th stump line, Kohli listens to his ultra aggressive voice and goes for the cover drive ! He will eventually nick one ! Quite a basic plan by the Aussies and worked very well ! Now other teams will do the same !

As a South African these greatest lists are farcial at best.
No Kallis De Villiers Smith or Amla
I think maybe Australia England and Indis can form their own league and play and praise each other to their hearts content😊
Granted its the opinion of Damien and these lists are created for content for the appeasement of its targeted viewers sometimes its good to have an honest opinion.
Granted SA has always been the bridesmaid at world finals but have since our readmission been a bloody competitive side with high calibre players.
    Food for thought i think

Miandad would be 8-10, he did bat great, and Ejaz Ahmed , but WI and India played more , and had great batter, From India I would choose Gavasker, Tendulkar, Kohli, Laxman as the best....( you can order them ), from WI Viv, Sobers , Haynes , Lara , Richardson, Loyd. ( again order yourself )
      SA would have a few
England would be Cook and Peterson, and one or two from the Winning sid in 1986.
Pakistan would have , Miandad, Ejaz, Younis ( although he played less , still averaged 50 )
Sri Lanka would have Sanga and Desilva
