MJR, there are two games I played all the time before the shut down. I played the original Pushmo because it's exclusive to the 3DS and it's, IMO, the best brainteaser on the eshop (maybe more so than Box Boy). Hi, new subscriber here! This is my favorite handheld system of all time. I have so many memories playing on this thing. This system was the first time I’ve played a Zelda game with Ocarina of Time 3D and it got me into the franchise . Super Mario 3D Land and Kirby Planet Robobot were my favorites from each of those series. You brought up some great games that brought back so many memories for me. I need to get back on my 3DS game collection since I haven’t touched it in a while. Keep making great content, man! You’re one of the best ones.
I just started Kirby Planet Robobot a few days ago and it truly is an amazing game! I have to catch up on other kirby games but, I see this one becoming my favorite kirby of all so far!
Great list of games - the 3DS is my favorite system of all time. Robobot is an incredible game, and is one of the best on the console. :) I've also put a ton of time into Cave Story+, NES Remix, Shantae and the Pirates Curse, Bravely Default, and anything with the name 'Steamworld' in it - with Heist being my favorite.
Hey I hope you're doing great! Thanks for another nice video. I wanna get my hands on a planet robobot pretty bad. I'm not into Kirby but I really want to play that one! I just started playing games and I really appreciate your videos, they helped me build a pretty cool collection I'm so excited to play. Thanks! Be well. -Hannah
Great games and video. Just a note that the way you describe the Luigi's Mansion games makes it seem like the remake came first. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon was a launch window 3DS game and sequel to the Gamecube original. The 3DS remake of the original came much later in the 3DS lifecycle.
For someone with luigi in his name, you sure got everything you said wrong. Dark moon came out 2 years after the 3ds debuted. Not exactly” launch window”
It’s great that you included Castlevania: Mirror of Fate. That’s a really unfairly underrated game. The whole Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series was fantastic, in general.
I started watching your channel around the time you were doing pick ups and guides for DS/3DS/Vita. Back when you could still consistently pick them up cheap at Gamestop. My how the world has changed. Appreciate the consistency of your content love these kinds of videos.
Nice to see a reviewer actually talk about how each game plays with 3d, I know most people don't use it including me when I first got the 3ds but now that I'm revisiting it, I almost always play with it on, OOT and Mario Kart benefit the most from it the most imo
It's a crime Nintendo didn't put out more of their classics in 3D. Sega's retro titles were easily the best they had ever looked with the 3D turned on. Great selection of games for one of the best handhelds ever made.
Great selection of games you featured here... a couple I will need to pick up eventually down the road. Would really like to see another video covering some more of your other favorites on the 3DS! I think there's a lot of people who slept on the 3DS back when it was actively having games being produced for it. My main disappointment is we didn't get more classic games remade in 3D on the handheld. I really love what they did with the handful of titles that did get the remade, 3D treatment. So many NES/SNES titles i would've loved to see in 3D. Truly a shame, imo. Also, I wish the 3D would've been more accepted by the fans, but most preferred to turn it off to save battery life, and i can understand that, just wish we could've gotten more than we did. Again, thanks for the game recommendations!✌️😎
FYI, Mirror of Fate is also available on PS3 (maybe 360 as well?), and was included as a DLC code with the Lord of Shadow Collection. You can buy it on the store directly, but the code didn't have an expiration date, in case anyone wants to try finding/buying a sealed copy of the game. I know I used my code and it still worked as of less than a year ago. As for 3D, I know it's a "gimmick", but man, I'm still amazed by it and love the effect! The Sega 3D Classics look great, and games like Bravely Default and the intro video to the Fire Emblem Fates games look beautiful as well with it turned on.
Man I'm genuinely sad to see the 3DS eshop go. I went on there this past week to buy any of the Shin Megami Tensei games that I don't already own, because those have a way of really increasing in price for physical copies, and I only see it getting worse after the eshop closes. Also grabbed Radiant Historia, which already goes for nearly $100 for physical copies now. Playing through SMTIV now, and having a blast!
When my nephew found my 3ds xl he loved it started playing all my games . He even asked me to get him a few Pokémon games for it . I’m currently looking for a 3ds just for him . Great vid
The 3DS title I like to play the most is ‘Pokémon Alpha Sapphire’. It’s just a remake of GBA Sapphire for the 3DS, need I say more? Haha. There are also the Super Mario games: 3D Land & New Bros. 2, and Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. I’ve also been meaning to play Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon since I really like the first game on the GCN.
The 3DO is still my go-to handheld system. Right now I play Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call and Luigi's Mansion. Poochy's and Yoshi's Wooly World, Kirby: Planet Robobot and Radiant Historia are all amazing.
Nano Assault EX is based on the original Nano Assault retail game plus the all-new survivor mode, new online rankings, support for Circle Pad Pro, improved gameplay, updated graphics, etc. Software description provided by the publisher.
❤ I am very new to the 3DS. Didn’t pick one up until well after the Switch had been released. But my go to game has to be Star Fox 64 3D. It’s one of my all-time favorite N64 games, playing it on the go is awesome, and the 3D feature is great.
Even though I've only played some of "The big ones" Recentley, I will probably always love Mario kart 7, Pokemon Moon, Poochy & Yoshi's woolly world and ESPECIALLY Super Mario 3D land and Kirby Planet Robobot
My List of Favorite 3DS Games I Have: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Star Fox 64 3D Fire Emblem Awakening Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Kid Icarus Uprising Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey Metroid: Samus Returns Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS Super Mario 3D Land Pushmo Nano Assault EX Ever Oasis Codename S.T.E.A.M. Bravely Default All of the Etrian Odyssey Original & Remake Games The Street Pass Minigames
You can use the “nub” to fire on nano assault! You just have to select “play with circle pad pro” from the options when you boot up the game. The OG 3ds models didn’t have the nub so the only way to have two analogs was with the goofy circle pad pro attachment
The Pokemon games get so much playtime from me. The continued support for trading Pokemon to Pokemon Home is just great. I can play all gens prior to the Switch on both of my 3DS consoles. I am also working on a couple Fire Emblem games and Shin Megami Tensei games. A lot of good RPGs keeping me playing
Tetris Axis is one of my hidden gems. Yes, it's a Tetris game, but it didn't get much hype. Fever mode is so addictive, and the Fit mode -- playing top-down -- is a 3D delight.
Games I can't stop playing: Kid Icarus Uprising, Pocket Card Jockey, Star Fox, Siesta Fiesta, Etrian Odyssey, Aero Porter, Denpa Men series. LOVE my 3DS. Switch has its moments but there's something about this one that just does it for me.
I just homebrewed my 2DS XL and downloaded Pokemon Omega Ruby, it's an amazing Pokemon game, being able to mega evolve your pokemon is a great twist. I was going to sell my 2DS XL and buy a Switch, but now I actually have a reason to use my 2DS XL, and it's a great handheld.

Love my 3DS. Earthbound, Link to the past, Ocarina of time, Majora's Mask, Kirby planet robot, Animal Crossing new leaf, Mario kart 7, all the Ace Attorney games, and don't forget Pokémon. All of these are such good games.
This is a great video, I have always struggled to discover which 3DS games to get when i see them in the shops. These look great and will be my new list of games to get!
_The closure of the eShop has caused alot of people to dust off their old consoles and re-live it! I'm just glad the 3DS community has woken up a little, it's my favourite portable! I love to take it travelling. Picked up Radiant Historia on the eShop and I'm playing it at the moment!_ (it has no 3D function though) 😢
I've been playing my 3ds a ton the past couple of years. I still play all those n64 remakes like Majora's Mask (my favorite game of all time) Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64 3D, and Super Mario 64 DS. I still play all the Pokemon games, Donkey Kong Country, Resident Evil Revelations, Super Metroid, and I'm also a huge fighting game person. I still play Super Street Fighter 4, Tekken Prime Edition, Smash Bros, and Dead or Alive Dimensions. Honestly I can go on forever. I love the 3ds.
I was fully expecting You to cover WiiU and 3DS eShop games in this final week rather than 3DS games in general. But I tend to stick to the Mighty Gunvolt games as well as the rest of the "Mighty games" and some Virtual console games that did not make it to other systems, like Shantae (1) or Sonic Blast (GameGear) Also I am a fan of the Mario & Donkey Kong games on the 3DS
I just love this console. I have a collection actually of these. And the 3D effect on a New 3DS is awesome, that is how it should be released when it was born. I have been playing Samus Returns last days, 92% completed so far.
So many good games on your list, some of them I own and some I've yet to get my hands on. Two of my favorite games for the 3DS are Fantasy Life and Monster Hunter Ultimate 4 and I really like Ever Oasis as well although I haven't gotten very far in it yet.
You should played monster Hunter stories too, if you fans of monster Hunter series, we are same buddy! I just got borrow 3ds last year and played some dragon quest sequel and castlevania its still have charm
@@SayurMayurIjo Yeah I know, I sadly missed out on getting a copy of it back when it was available at retailers and I didn't have enough free space on my memory card for the eshop version of it, getting it on the secondhand market is quite expensive these days and they're few and far between when it comes to availability at least where I live sadly.
i like how all your picks are retro type 2D gaming, for me the best games are gamecube, NDS CEL shade style games, and in botb cases it just shows the time we grew up in!
Crazy all these Great “3DS Videos” as of late! Especially considering I just got my New 3DS LL Back and am loving everything about it!! I like Playing Legacy of Goku2(GBA) on mine! But I’ve also been Dabbling in all the Fire Emblems as well as Dragon Quest!! I am also so thankful to say, I finally got the OG Resident Evil Revelations and I couldn’t be happier with the Device!
I recently have gone back to play my 3Ds; playing through LOZ A link between Worlds to get ready for the new Zelda game. Some of the games you have mentioned here I did not even know about, and they look AWESOME! Btw… I picked up Kirby’s Planet Robo-bot based on your recommendation in one of your videos I watched in the past (like 2 years ago)…and… it’s now my favorite game on the 3Ds, as well as my favorite Kirby game. Great video MJR!!! 😎🔥💪🔥
Smash Bros is still my definitive 3ds game. While I love the switch version, that one in handheld mode just feels awkward while the 3ds version just feels right. Got me through a lot of boring bus rides and classes during high school. Whenever we were done with work/tests, our teachers let us use our phones or handhelds. The 3ds was huge during my time in high school (2011-2015) and people were either playing pokemon, mario kart, or smash bros.
Thank you for all the work you put into your channel today and throughout the years. I just had to mention it! Love your content and been following for over 10 years I think I can't remember lol it's been so long! Cheers! ♥ Picked up my 3DS today to just see what the fuss was with the eShop. Lo and behold, it is no longer there. Haven't been playing much lately. Definitely missing it! Happy to see you're still up and at it here on the channel
Couldnt agree more! Great video as always ~ It's validating to see someone that appreciates the 3D aspect of the 3DS . I'm could be in the minority here but I really want Nintendo to bring 3DS functionality to Switch in some way. 3DS was basically portable Gamecube imo. SO adding a 3DS screen to a Switch could basically bring back 3DS library potential if you know what I mean. Even if Gamecube and DS are technically next in line for NSO Wii and 3DS would be after. So I feel like it's inevitable. One can dream :')
I miss the 3DS 3D display. It was limited yes, but it had a slider to limit/enhance the effect. I actually love this handheld console. Even the included AR games with cards are fun Edit: our original 3DS was lost in a taxi :(
I only allow myself to play my Switch or various handhelds when travelling. It's like a treat to compensate for all the hassle of airports or being away from home, I can get back to tackling my backlog of games. I'm about half way through Live A Live at the moment, and it's the perfect type of game to pick up and play in intervals (over Christmas I finished the Wild West scenario). In May I will be out of town for a long weekend, and look forward to continuing. I can always play them at home, and I have the pro controller/dock setup, but there's something about reserving my handhelds for road trips that always makes them feel a bit more palatable or special, particularly given the majority of my trips involve 10+ hour flights.
3DS favorites: Fantasy Life, Yo kai Watch, SoS Trio of Towns, Rune Factory 4, Etrian Odyssey 4, Pokemon Shuffle, all the Mario & Luigi rpgs, Steamworld Heist, Steamworld Dig (the first one), Picross 3D, miiverse (does that count 🥲)
Which games do you still play on the 3DS? Which eShop games do you recommend people pick up before the store gets shut down?

Tales of the Abyss is my favorite RPG on the system 💪

I'm considered a newcomer but I can totally see why 3ds is so awesome. I gonna miss the eshop already.
Modding it is worth it
Metal Jesus Rocks One Of The Many Retro Elders Like Myself Who Have Seen All Of The 1980s To Now Amazing Times
MJR! Fantastic video and the timing for the 3DS eshop is excellent. Appreciate your hard work!
Much appreciated!
When my nephew found my 3ds xl he loved it started playing all my games . He even asked me to get him a few Pokémon games for it . I’m currently looking for a 3ds just for him . Great vid
That is awesome!
This is giving me nostalgia for some reason. I used to watch your videos years ago when I had a 2Ds
The 3DO is still my go-to handheld system. Right now I play Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call and Luigi's Mansion. Poochy's and Yoshi's Wooly World, Kirby: Planet Robobot and Radiant Historia are all amazing.
A new upload as soon as I search for your channel, perfect.
2:58 Destroying testicular cancer, one phased plasma spread at a time!
Luigi’s Mansion 2 is the only game in the franchise I have never finished, can’t wait for the switch port.
Even though I've only played some of "The big ones" Recentley, I will probably always love Mario kart 7, Pokemon Moon, Poochy & Yoshi's woolly world and ESPECIALLY Super Mario 3D land and Kirby Planet Robobot
About two years ago I started stockpiling 3ds systems and games. The prices are getting crazy. I love the 3ds, maybe even more than the switch.
I'd love to see a collection of Shin'en's shoot 'em up games from the Iridion and Nano series someday.
My List of Favorite 3DS Games I Have:
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

TY FOR TALKING ABOUT SIESTA FIESTA its one of my favorite 3ds games and sometimes i feel like im the only person in the world whos played it
Been waiting for this video!
One that I'm still playing for the 3DS is Fantasy Life. It's a great little game, and recently had an upcoming sequel announced for the Switch.
Went to the Toronto Game Expo last weekend and picked up FIVE streetpasses!! Amazing.
Eshop closing is sad ): will look to pick up your recommendations before it closes!!!
Tetris Axis is one of my hidden gems. Yes, it's a Tetris game, but it didn't get much hype. Fever mode is so addictive, and the Fit mode -- playing top-down -- is a 3D delight.
Have you heard about the movement to bring streetpass back? I hope you’re part of it 😊
Awesome video! love your content, also I'd love to see an Xbox One buying guide and maybe a Genesis buying guide one day!
really cool that you have so many of these games as physical cartridge!
Did somebody mention the two Pullblox already? These are great and make perfect use of the 3D effect.
Always love your videos man, much love from Mexico!
Appreciate it!
Dear Jason thanks for being so awesome man, keeping me up with your videos throught rough times.
Sending lots of good vibes my dude high five, hope your Jaw is alright you sound great.
Anyways come to visit Costa Rica man a latin america trip, i gotchu my doug! My girl has an airbnb super cheap we can hang out and stuff smoke some grass and play games of course we got tons of retro video games stores and i'm a 3ds collector.
Anywho man have a great day thanks for taking your time in making these cheers
I would love to come to Costa Rica at some point. The country looks BEAUTIFUL and chill. It would be nice to go there and just relax. 👍
Wow, thank you for your video. I still love playing the 3DS, but other games. I think I'll look out for those in your list and give them a shot 😊
Been recently replaying the Ace Attorney trilogy. Just so much fun and laughter through that set of titles
I just got back into 3ds gaming so it’s so awesome u just made this video
But I tend to stick to the Mighty Gunvolt games as well as the rest of the "Mighty games" and some Virtual console games that did not make it to other systems, like Shantae (1) or Sonic Blast (GameGear)
Also I am a fan of the Mario & Donkey Kong games on the 3DS
This is a great list, thank you. I have so many great memories of this console and the shop.
I wish you would’ve had a 3DS eshop digital only survival guide before the shop closed
The 3ds was the first system I was able to keep up (financially) with all the games I wanted to play. Such a great system
Whenever you explain why you like a certain game, I always reminisce on the Aussie Sega Mega Drive commercial. "Speed, action, graphics, gameplay." 🐨😂
Excellent. Thanks. Greetings from mexico
Greetings from Seattle USA 👍
Fan since the very first episode. Take care my friend
Talking about video games we love is the best thing. Thank you for the video!
You bet!
6:53 Outrun isn’t on the Sega 3D classics cartridge! It an eShop game in the west.
Planet Robobot is an instant classic and a game to be remembered forever
Love your TH-cam videos, thanks for the reviews. I wasn't sure what other games to add to my collection but now I'm good to go.
Even the included AR games with cards are fun
Edit: our original 3DS was lost in a taxi :(
Love the video thanks for the 3ds game recommendations
Glad you like them!
@@MetalJesusRocks thank you
I only allow myself to play my Switch or various handhelds when travelling.
Can you imagine how sweet an F-Zero game would have been on 3DS?
3DS favorites:

Rune Factory 4,
Etrian Odyssey 4,
