Hawkeye did appear in the first Thor movie. His role is small, but he is shown with his bow and he is referred to as "Barton," which is the character's name. Comics fan got the easter egg and knew that Marvel was previewing Hawkeye. At this point in the series, neither Black Widow (who is Russian) nor Hawkeye had had their own movie/show (you had not missed a movie). As for Hawkeye's 'power,' he basically has a bow and lots of fancy SHIELD-made arrows. There has often been debate whether his spectacular, I-can't-possibly-miss-a-target talent might in fact be something a little extra-human, but he is traditionally played as just a supremely skilled human.

The original comic book Hawkeye was a villain in the Iron Man comics briefly before turning into a hero.

Ruffalo's performance is cool and subdued, with anxiety bubbling just beneath the surface. If he seems bored, it's likely because he doesn't want to be there and he's biding his time.
Tony and Cap eventually begin to feel the same way, and it makes sense, because the freak show has gone off the rails, and it escalates with every episode.

There was a bit of press about Norton and the director getting into it during the edit on Incredible Hulk. The director later said Norton was great and they were just both caught caring strongly about something during the "killing your babies" portion of the edit (where you have to cut out things you liked/loved for pacing/flow/continuity/etc). My theory is that Joss Whedon was a wuss and didn't want an actor on set trying to have any input on the writing or character direction or shot composition, so he fired the talented actor/writer and hired a brain-damaged chimp in his place.

You’re thinking about this from too much of a real world standpoint, sir. don’t forget as we saw in the first Captain America movie the stark family and Stark industries have been one of the leading corporations in the marvel universe since World War II, so they would probably have as much if not more political and business power than anyone else in the new millennium. You have to think of these movies within the context of their universe. Otherwise all you’re gonna have is confusion.

To put some of the characters in terms of strength level for Marvel comics:
Maximum Limit of Normal Human - About 1200lbs over head for brief moment (world record deadlift)
Super Soldier (Captain America & any others who took a super soldier serum equivalent) - About 1 Ton (2000lbs) comfortably
Characters like Spider-Man (Lots of Marvel Comic powered individuals fall into this middle category and have varied levels of strength) - About 10 tons comfortably
Thor - about 100 Tons comfortably
Hulk - He is in the 100+ Ton category, and has an unlimited potential as his strength is tied to how angry he is
...and to answer your question about Hawkeye and Natascha... neither of them is super human in any way. They are simply at the absolute top levels of their skill sets, the top 0.00001% of people in their respective fields. They are pure humans, with no gizmos and gadgets to protect them, that are operating beside gods and legends. Thus, why they are two of my favorite characters. You have to respect that...
As per Thor, he may not equal Hulk in RAW strength.... but the dude has been fighting wars for Odin for over 1000 years. He may rely on his hammer a lot, but he is a highly skilled warrior in his own respect.

In the Ultimate comics that inspired the MCU, both Hawkeye and Black Widow had been augmented by SHIELD. His augmentations were focused on sight, eye hand coordination and reflex. Barton can’t miss a target if he tried. Natasha’s augmentations came from a Russian version of the Super Soldier formula. She was nowhere near Captain America but she was well beyond say an Olympic level athlete.
I kinda hate that they didn’t take this route with these two characters. But I guess you always want a bad ass normal person on a superhero team.

No, the problem is the first person they asked was Ed Norton, and despite his incredible talent he’s far more well-known behind the scenes for being a prima-donna who is incredibly difficult to work with. The composition of the storylines of Phase 1 and Phase 2 was extremely well-made. After that, it dipped a bit due to the broadening of the universe. Phase 3 is still good, tho (and marks the beginning of a cooperation with Sony in regards of the Spider-Man character). This wraps up the first larger storyline.
Phase 4 was special due to it being partly done under lockdown measures and mostly marketed through Disney+, partly through the incorporation of (TV-)series into the phase. The series were naturally planned to air in streaming, the movies out of necessity (this led to a falling out with Scarlett Johansson due to a dispute over lost revenue - she had a clause in her contract that granted her a piece of the movie theatre earnings, but none for the eventuality that the movie was released directly to streaming services). The first set of series was completely different to anything the people expected and, mostly, very well-received.
Phase 5 kicked off last year and has, as of now, several mediocre/uninspired movies and (until now) a bunch of OKish series. You can tell that they're still scrambling to adjust to shifts in casting and getting the storylines straight, as well as planning for the incorporation of the Fox properties that are Marvel-related (X-Men/Fantastic Four/Deadpool). Everything is watchable, but mostly lacks the spark that some of the earlier material had.
The main problem ever since the middle of Phase 4: the inherent battle of the fans between the Neckbeard Grognards on one side and the SJW team on the other side. I can fully understand that you don't want the characters you grew up with to be radically changed. But, in my eyes, if the redesign is well-made and conserves the core essence of the character, that should be more than ok. (Also,if we had the actors/actresses running around in the costumes designed in the 70s and 80s, that'd be a s*xual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen. And this is true for both genders.)

It's more appropriate in the context of wielding the hammer vs. picking it up. Per Marvel, it weighs 42.3 lbs. Picking up Thor weilding it just adds that weight to his. Any attempt to pick it up, wield, or use the hammers powers would not be allowed unless you meet the enchantments requirement of being worthy, per Odins definition on the enchanted hammer.

You can pick Thor and his hammer up because Thor is holding it. The hammer can only be weikded by one who is worthy. Yes, it"s magic - but magic is just a technology you don't understand.
Thor is a "visitor from another planet" - Superman reference.

only thor or a previous owner of the hammer or someone of equal or greater magical might than odin can wield the hammer. the enchantment odin put on it is like a magical lock. "if he be worthy shall pocess the power of thor"
hulk os the strongest avenger certainy in terms of raw power, he gets stronger and faster and more duarable and stronger regeneration the anger he gets so u don't want a prolonged battle with him. they don't quite do him justice in the mcu. he is supposed to have an absolutely infinite upper ceiling
thor is 1000+ years old, incredibly strong and durable, and with the lightning powers. it pretty much between those 2 at this point, hulk on raw strenth alone but thor is a more capable fighter and controlled and could beat the hulk if he knocks him out fast enough and the fight isnt way sustained
in the comics, they've both had "wins" against each other but its usually not definitive and often a draw more than anything

18:45 Fun fact, this little 'Blueberry?' bit was completely ad-libbed on the spot, as RDJ tended to always have some kind of snack on hand between cuts (iirc, as an alternative to help battle his old substance abuse issues). But he played it off so naturally that it 'fit' for Tony Stark in the moment, so they kept it! ^_^
19:13 It's Tony Stark. He's like.. the 'most Genius' of the Geniuses. (and there's a high chance a lot of it is using tech/coding based on either his, or his father's designs. So there's easily some base level familiarity to spring-board off of)
26:55 Yeah. Put simply, she's like 'Female John Wick, with super-powered humans and Gods around her'. In *our* world, she kicks a lot of butt. In MCU.. She still kicks butt, just not as much as most of the other Avengers. (same for Hawkeye) Sadly, they didn't get 'origin' material on the screen before any these movies. The studio didn't consider them 'strong/popular enough characters' to hold attention to be worth an entire movie, iirc. *But* Natasha/Black Widow gets her own movie *after* everything: 'Black Widow". But it can be watched at pretty much any time since it doesn't really envolve any of the main heroes/villains from the other the MCU/Avengers. And Hawkeye got a mini-series ('Hawkeye'), but I don't know where it falls in the timeline, as I haven't watched it yet. I think it's after everything though.
44:25 You could also just call this the Marvel 'Candy' Universe! xD They're (almost) all visually stunning. And they pretty much keep getting better (save for a few stumbles).

The most scientific guess for thor's hammer's abilities supposes that gravitons are real and that the hammer has the ability to emit gravitons on demand to make itself as heavy as needed to not move when it's not being held by thor.

    • @JakkFrost1
      @JakkFrost1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Wouldn't work, because that would mean it could cause significant damage to any surface underneath it when the gravitons activated, especially when trying to counteract the lifting power of someone like Hulk.

Ed Norton didn't want the "franchise" plus Marvel wasn't going to make another solo Hulk movie - Universal had the distribution rights - so Marvel lost a nice chunk of money on any movie starring the Hulk.
Hard to believe but Marvel Comics nearly went out of business - only saved itself by selling its most popular characters to other movie studios - Spiderman to Sony, X-men and Fantastic Four to Fox, etc. Which is why we have 5 solo movies to set up the coming together of the Avengers in the sixth. Clint "Hawkeye" Barton and Natasha "Black Widow" Romanov (as a Russian agent she was trained to lose the accent) are highly skilled humans - they're like Batman (except Stark has the money). And Hawkeye and Black Widow weren't in the original comic book Avengers team - those two characters aren't introduced into the MCU until 6 movies later - and neither was Captain America* - Hulk** decided to leave because of trust issues and Captain America wasn't defrosted until issue 4. The MCU does things differently.
Fantastic Four started "The Marvel Age of Comics" universe, then the 5 characters who eventually became the Avengers and then Spider-Man gave it a nice booster shot in the arm. Nick Fury wasn't originally an Agent of Sheild (he was a WWII sargent leading a rag tag group of soldiers called the Howling Commandos - some of whom showed up in Captain America: The First Avenger) - the spy thing came later (post war career). Then the Avengers and X-Men*** groups appeared at the same time. {Marvel Comics 1961 to 1963 in a nutshell)
*Captain America was created in 1940 (Marvel went by Timely at that time) by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby****. Stan Lee was the publisher's nephew - his first writing contribution to comics was a text only piece (I believe in later issue of the Captain America comic).
** The original run of the Hulk comic lasted only 5 issues (continued guest appearances in other comics) - became really popular because of the TV show (chosen because they wouln't have to deal with the special effeccts of the other characters - just paint a big buff geaf guy green and put a Beatle wig on him).
*** The Avengers were more popular than the X-Men (so much so that comic went into reprints after issue #66 while Avengers kept on going). It was only after after a reboot/reimagining in 1975 that the X-Men gained the popuarity that they have now.
**** It is said Jack Kirby created the Marvel Universe with his mind and a #2 pencil. It worked like this - Stan (editor/writer) and Jack (artist/co-plotter) would plot the comic, then Jack would draw it and Stan would then write the dialogue ("The Marvel Method"***** because Stan was plotting and dialoguing all the comics with various artists). Kirby was a powerhouse - he's responsible for the look of just about every Marvel character from 1961 to 1971 (except for those appearing in Spider-Man and Dr. Strange which were handled by Steve Ditko). Jack drew a phenominal number of comics - at least drawing the first few issues of a title while continuing work on his main titles Fantastic Four and Thor. Characters would be created in Fantastic Four and would eventually get their own series (Black Panther, Inhumans) - to the point where Stan would have to ask Jack who's this guy (The Silver Surfer) because he had no clue. Unfortunately Jack died before he could see the MCU.
***** Comics are otherwise written like a movie script (movies use comic-like storyboards to keep track of filming), with a page by page breakdown, the aritst draws the comic and then the comic is lettered (because the dialogue was already in the script (might be tweaked - but that's about it).
Sorry about the "novelette" - sometimes I just go off the deep end.

I would say as of this point, the Hulk is indeed the strongest/most powerful of the group. It remains to be seen if he stays that way in the future however.
A good way to think of Thors Hammer is that its got a magic enchantment placed upon it by Odin in Thor's movie. "Whosoever holds this hammer, should he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." ie anyone worthy of holding the hammer will also receive all the powers of Thor himself.
Phil Coulson was a big fan favourite to the point they started an agents of shield tv show after this movie came out with him as a main character in it.
Also I found your reaction to the Hulk smashing Loki around hilarious.

Imagine how hyped we were as fans when these came out and we went to the theater once a year for each new adventure. I never thought as a kid I'd ever see my childhood heroes come to life and look so realistic on the big screen and then the MCU happened! Much respect to Lou Ferrigno for his Hulk on TV many years ago but it never looked as good as it does now with the way technology made it now.

The only trouble with the Hulk is that neither he nor Banner have and combat training of fighting skill. It's all brute strength. This was a fantastic movie, i went to see twice in the cinema. Doing the solo movies first for their origins and then bringing them together for the avengers movie made sense and amplified the excitement and in my opinion its where DC made a critical mistake as they pretty much went straight to the justice league movie and tried to play catch up in one movie which didnt work and zach snyders justice league version is so much better than the other one.

28:23 It’s not just picking up the hammer. It’s being worthy of the power it instills.
In the mainstream Marvel comics there are several people who actually can lift Thor’s hammer Mjolnir. Most of them are not as physically strong as Thor. But because of the nobility of their character, the hammer deems them worthy.

Black Widow has a movie, that honestly did her dirty, they should have done a "Logan" of it..
She's basically the "Huntress" or "Batwoman" of Marvel. She's also going to be an impressive character later... you'll see. Hawkeye is just Green Arrow but not filthy rich. The scene where black widow and Hawkeye are together later, it's going to interesting to you.
Hawkeye doesn't get a movie, and frankly it's a wonder he actually IS an Avenger to me. He's just a guy with really good aim and crazy arrows.

I hate to do it to you, but there are TV shows that tie into some of the movie things that you should check out as well. There is a series called Agents of SHIELD that was pretty good, but kind of got off track in it's later stuff because they were trying to do a bit too much with it that has a lot of early tie in stuff. There is a Hawkeye series that in the timeline happens much later, and you will see more of his story as these films play out along with the series.

Here are some fun marvel facts. The MCU differ from the comic books. For example the MCU Steve Rogers is a lot stronger than comic book Captain America whose strength is at maximum around 4 tons. The MCU Steve Rogers strength level is 6 tons and he gets stronger with every appearance because of the MCU drawback of his super soldier serum. If Steve doesn't constantly work out he will lose his super strength. Ironman program the strength level of his suit so he gets stronger with every upgrade. So Tony is definitely stronger than Captain America in this movie. Thor's not the strongest avenger but he is the most powerful not to mention with his physical strength he at this time is about half of the incredible hulks who's base level strength without getting angry is at least 350 ton. The best fighter is Black widow and the bravest is Hawkeye which you will find out later. Loki physically is weaker than Thor but still 3 to 4 times stronger than Captain America. Loki also is equal to if not more powerful than Thor based off his multiple abilities.
