    I feel that the crucial point is not how to bring yourself back to the breath after an intrusive thought, but how to let the intrusive thought happen while you stay on the breath. the former is always emphasized in meditation, and while correct, the issue with ocd, for me, is how to stay on something while letting the thought happen on it's own.

      You said it bro, actually having a thought in my head whether intrusive or not is impossible. Learning to flow through my thoughts instead of trying to stop them all the time is my biggest challenge. I think that's why people with OCD struggle to meditate so much because we don't have thoughts in the same way non ocd people experience thoughts.

    I struggle with meditation because they always ask you to focus on your breathing and your heartbeat, but I've always had a phobia about my internal workings; when I was a kid, I'd overfocus on my breathing, doing it too much or too little, creating a mad panic.
    Also, having OCD, my mind goes to a lot of mad places or dumb fixations.
    This is just perfect for me, a real sense of calm. Absolutely perfect. Cheers.

    If you have ocd and you can’t distract yourself from your thoughts, sometimes I like to play my video game or play a game on my phone maybe a word search? Keep your mind occupied it’s hard at first but once u get in the hand of it and understand that your thoughts are not real there just thoughts you wil get through this with time you got this stay strong the world 🌎

      The thing about distractions is that they only last so long. I think these types of meditations really help cope in a very independent way. Your advice is wonderful and appreciated

      @@X_lucylou_x i would delete your comment if i was u, what you have recommended is not good for people going through recovery and is sending false information, which can only worsen your OCD. Distractions only make the thoughts come back more frequent and heavy as the mind knows your just trying to push the ocd thoughts away. U first need to learn how to manage your thoughts and learn the proper procedure with how to train your ocd to lower the frequency/heaviness of the thoughts. Keeping yourself busy is only recommended after you have gone through this procedure.

    I was on the verge of having a terrible attack. While this didn't fully stop all the feelings of anxiety, it for sure helped me calm down and move on with a clearer mind.

      @pecgod9038 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey man I’ve been taking meds for about 7 months now and just don’t want you to be discouraged about taking them, your doctors will prescribe you medicine because they know it’s safe, and people are usually ignorant about SSRI’s so just help yourself as much as you can. Remember that in this life everything comes and goes. 😊
