Where did you buy your exterior windows? Do they have a certain name? We are needing to replace our single wide windows and they are also mounted from the exterior like yours! Thank you
I think a light grey is a nice neutral color. Goes with anything and won't show the dirt quite as much. Gray can have blue undertones or green undertones so pick it carefully. Use a satin paint. It won't have a sheen, but will be washable and hold up much better.
when I was a kid my room was a pale green on all the walls. I'm a very naturey person so had posters of spiders and stuff and various fake vines. my room was tiny so didnt take much to fill up. i find white too bright and it strains my eyes, plus it looks dirty very easily. a pale tone of whatever the boys like on the walls would look good, and add complimentry colour with furnishings.
For us, the worst part of painting is the prep and cleanup, so we would stay far away from that Sidekick! The room looks great. It's always nice covering up the drywall.
Use Navajo white, it has a cream tint to it and you won't see handprints quite as easily as with pure white, I had 4 boys and we used that throughout the house
I just love ya'll ! You handle all projects with patience and kindness toward one another. What a true example of a Christian marriage. As far as paint colors, a neutral color such a light tan, light gray or even a light, soft green wouldn't overpower the room but give it a little color other than start white. Whatever their comforters/spreads are can determine which neutral to use. I know it is going to look great. Can't wait to see what ya'll come up with next. 😊👍
I like light gray, also. It's very easy to change color schemes with. It's neutral but not sterile white. Semi gloss for clean up is important. Was it you Sam that said you took a piece of dirt into the paint store and asked them to match if for the color for your boys room color?
I do not use a special ceiling paint either, just straight forward emulsion paint. The legal building regs here in the UK are we can use any paint on the ceiling EXCEPT gloss, metal or any wood paints. Love the fresh white look of the boys room. A blank canvas is always fun - especially for children. 😊😊 Must look for the painting tool here, will make painting my stair well so much easier. 👏👏😊😊
Having used Airless sprayers for 30 years I can tell you zero thinning is required. You could have done the entire room in 15 minutes or less. However, inside the overspray would have made it to the far end of the house regardless of any precautions you might have taken. The power roller is the best way to go.
That's the European way I think. Paint trays are creeping in recently but I usually stick with the bucket. The grate takes some cleaning too of course, unless you buy plastic ones and consider them disposable. Otherwise the grate won't have any holes left after like the third time using it. Besides, most European wall/ceiling paints tend to dissolve a bit when wet again, so if you paint any dark colours and don't clean the grate afterwards, you get interesting pastels the next time you want to paint white. My brother learned that the hard way after he painted a red accent wall. DIY stores here sell rectangular buckets for painting, I love them! They'll also fit on top of most stepladders if you've got tall ceilings. Most old homes here are 3m+ (over 10'), that's pretty much impossible to paint with a roller on a pole, even if you're tall.
I reckon a warm white on the walls is always a winner. And decor can add colour and interest and reflect the boys interests. It’s going to be a lovely room 🌟
I'm doing grandsons room all white at moment ,the curtain, blind and bed linen will add the pop of colour. like u said Angela posters, pictures etc to bring the room to the boys own liking, cant beat white to add freshness to rooms; the room looks amazing and its only had its 1st coat well done guys can wait see next video , hugs x
Thanks! Now I've got an image of someone attaching something like paint sprayer nozzles to the blades of a fan and spraying the whole room with paint stuck in my head :-D Sounds like an idea for a "Don't try this at home" TV show! The Germans once took an outdoor clothes drying rack (looks like an upturned umbrella with clothes lines strung between the spokes) and attached fireworks rockets to the ends of the spokes. About a third of the clothes flew away, another third got scorched and the rest was perfectly dry.
Green is calming, what are the boys interested in, share window area for reading with storage for shared toys or raised beds with desk areas and book shelf for special books and action figures etc, make curtains to create a tent for 5yr old, privacy for 8 yr old ! Love from Shreveport Louisiana 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Remember it’s just paint, meaning it could always be changed. When my 12 year old daughter asked for a barn red bedroom I was shocked. But I painted it barn red. When she got married and moved out. I re-paint dove gray. It’s a good thing to let our children express themselves. Today my daughter is 35 she doesn’t have a barn red bedroom but she is always great full that she was able to express her creative side when she was a little.
A nice silver grey, you can add different bedding and such to blend I. Other colours. I’m telling you it will grow with them and look good bright, make sure any paint is washable. This colour won’t not show dirt as bad. Good job on the paint. God bless
I like light warm-toned gray because it’s still neutral but not clinical. I also like a mossy green! One of our boys had a light brownish taupe color once. Those colors are easy to accessorize! Good luck!!
White walls keep you from being locked into a color....the bedspreads & curtains can be used as accent colors the boys like AND it's much easier to change if necessary rather than repainting.
Hello Sam & Angela, Yes we think like a "very light grey", or "eggshell" color over the white would be a great color choice, we think painting the room white would be overkill too much white, so with that said we feel those color choices that we mentioned would look great in that room because they are both still in the neutral color class and will go good with almost any decor you decide on for the final finishing touches...! and they will look great...!, as far painting an accent wall, my wife & I think that would look awesome too...! thanks for sharing today we really enjoyed the video as with all the videos you both make, you both make a great team working together and the renovation results show that very clearly...! Take care & stay safe. from your new friends in Lima Peru George & Carmen
Thank goodness none of my kids wrote on the walls. Living in an apartment (rental) the walls were/is always white and I hated it but that's just me. The primer looks great and if you do choose a color may I suggest a pale grey? It adds a bit of color and it's still neutral like white paint. That way you can still add accents of color through bedding, curtains and room decor.
I always paint an Off White, or Bone White which isn't as stark white. Then add color with curtains, and wall hangings, and such. Maybe an accent wall of a different color.
New tool....woohoo!! And I like it!! I wouldn't know what colors I would use. "Everyone" is using Agreeable Grey" and it is nice. You will have fun picking out what's right for you. Room looks amazing you 2!!!!
Thanks for the demo. I get the feeling setup and cleanup takes longer than just rolling the traditional way. It looked like fun to use, though for ease of clean up, I’d go traditional.
With a nail go around the top of the can where the lid goes on. These holes will allow the paint to drip down inside of the can and enable you to get the top off much easier to get off as the paint will have gone back into the can.
You made a chore look fun. When my four children were little, I painted our interior spaces the color of fingerprints and our carpets were beige berber but with flecks of the color of the dirt in the yard. Way before hardwoods. Haha 😄 it worked!
When you clean it, it's best to start with drawing in the WSoapy water while pushing unused paint back into a bucket. Stop as soon as you see water starting to come through and move the roller bracket to an interim waste bucket (my fav) or directly to the soapy water for final wash through cycle(s). Once you get the hang of it the power roller generates much less splatter. Any time you save in a small job is lost with the added clean up time. One tip: BE SURE to clean all the loose fuzz off of new rollers with masking tape before using.
Maybe not bright white but an off white or very light grey. Me? I love color and repaint my walls every few years lol. The walls show the dirt and other treasures children leave behind so I repaint to the mood of the person in the room. How about the boys get to choose a color for their own accent wall? Coordinating of course. Lots of different ways to go.
All I kept thinking about that new roller, is what a total pain to clean up, I'll stick with the old school roller. Looks great, I might be tempted to just leave it LoL 🤣. You definitely shouldn't ask my opinion, I painted my boys room a buzz light-year theme. Lime green , florescent orange, light blue and night sky navy on the ceiling. Then I painted mural all over the ceiling and walls. Buzz flying across the sky, planets, stars, a rocket ship with lgms( little green men) for those who don't remember the toy story movie 😂. Since your boys like Legos, you could make one wall a Lego wall. Attach the base plates to the wall and then make a nice frame around it. They can get as creative as the want. This isn't my idea, I saw it on one of those diy shows years ago. Can't remember which one🤔
My two brothers shared a room that was painted light green and I loved it. I don't remember hearing them say if they liked or disliked the green and it stayed green till they moved out. They had green curtains with blue and green plaid spreads. My room was blue, then yellow then orchid until I went to college. I painted my room when I wanted a change. Let's see if your boys can agree on a color.
I would choose a beige or gray to hide dirt, just go light with them. Then you can paint other things like book shelves, dressers, bed frames and so on to bring in color.
I enjoyed your video. Watching you ‘test-drive’ the Wagnar roller along with your shared commentary of what its like to use helped me to decide it’s a tool worth buying 😊 Thanks so much!
I have no issues using tray. Most of the time is spent doing edges and taping. I am very much interested in using some edging tool for the next paint job I do.
The bedroom looks gorgeous no I know it’s primer but it really looks nice guys did a nice job I love that roller really works nice and easy to clean. Can’t wait for your new video have a great day
Furniture is easily moved - what about one side for sleep, the other for play? They can each have their own cubby - but I'm thinking built-ins which can be their own hassle. If doing white, what about large murals you can paper onto the walls and eventually remove?
WOW!!!!! Impressive video thank you for the PIC in PIC comparison. I also wonder if the different paints/colors factored into the difference with the coverage?
Get loft beds and under the beds they can decorate for what they are into at the moment or hang a curtain on each wall and as they grow and change their minds its an easy change. They get their own space to do with as they want you get to leave the walls white and everyone is happy
Angela you have used up that extra 2 minutes that Sam took painting his wall just in the work of cleaning out that tool. May be fun, but it seems like more trouble than it's worth to me. And the coverage wasn't all that great. But it was fun to watch how excited you were just waiting for the paint to reach the brush!
Ha. I have the 20 year old version of that Power Painter and I received the new one as a Christmas gift. IME they work best in an empty room. For bedrooms I like to find the bedding first and pull the color from that, usually one of the discreet colors in the pattern. I figure they might have theme bedding so accent walls may be nice with two white walls. You guys make me feel better about my drywalling my family room before Thanksgiving. It took forever!
Paint job looks good. I'm glad I saw it here first. Now I know that I don't want the power roller. Doesn't save much time and cleanup is more than I want to mess with. The old school roller you just pull it off and toss it.
I had to paint my ceilings 2 times because the woman was a smoker that owned our trailer first. I ended up using a sealer primer first to block the nicotine yellowing. It was messy. Because my neck is messed up, I can not paint ceilings again. Not fun. I remember rolling the 25 foot ceilings at a department store I worked at years ago. We ended up using scaffolding because 25 foot extentions make your paint job look streaky.
You guys are so awesome!! I loved the new gadget - but, I would hate the cleanup afterwards. So old method for me. Can't wait to see this room finished.
Angela was super excited about the new toy! Now I want one! There are many neutral colors you can go with if you decide against white. Maybe a gray, tan, etc.
I recently painted insulation panels that had basically the same finish as your drywall. The roller is pretty important as you need one that is for a smooth surface. Since the paint slides around at first, I used a light coat and let it dry overnight, then the next day was able to get a really good cover with one more coat. I did about thirty of those sheets, so am kind of an expert. I vote for the old way of painting. 😊
Pale grey..almost silvery grey, still bright, but toned down from brilliant white. Please please please paint or spray the ceiling fan to give it a more contemporary look. Looking fab-ewe-luss though 👍 xx
If you are doing the room where they each get half, make it where the older one has to walk through the younger ones half to get to his half. Let them pick their own paint color. Have them help a little too. It makes them feel like it's actually their's.
Ceiling paint is the same as wall paint usually the only difference is some are tinted to be pinkish while wet drying to white. Light colors are good never white hee hee. Love to see this coming together. Glad you turned the fan off lol.
This is an old school idea but it works really well I think one solid color wall one stripped with the boys favorite colors then a common colors on the other two walls when I was young I had a yellow solid two antique white one stripped with like soft teal orange blue greens at their age still very pretty colors or go more bold for your boys do a color print on the computer in the room to check it out
Nice job covering the purple...I like your idea of keeping it white and then let the boys decorate the walls with decor of their choice, gives each of them a sense of having their own room. If you do an accent wall, have a different color for each of their sides of the room. I know no matter you choose it will be amazing. And I agree you two do make a great team. Another milestone under your belt.

Where did you buy your exterior windows? Do they have a certain name? We are needing to replace our single wide windows and they are also mounted from the exterior like yours! Thank you
How about a very light grey? Then let the curtains, bed coverings and wall decor add the pops of color.
I thought Sam missed a spot and that’s when I realized how dirty my screen was! 😂 I have bail money in case the ceiling popo get you!
Don't forget to run a bead of white caulking around the joints between the walls and ceiling of the bedroom and bathroom!
They are putting up crown moulding.
@@annnicholls7585 Its still a good idea to air seal any gaps. Fiberglass insulation batts don’t stop air intrusion.
@@annnicholls7585 oh, ok, but the caulk will seal out any air leaks between the walls and ceiling, also prevent little critters from sneaking in !
Definitely seal those cracks❗ 👌
Your thinking right - white or off white and let the bedding and accessories colour the room. 👍 😎
I am binge watching 1806 Stone House and they recommended your channel..so, when I am done, I will binge watch your channel too!!!!
With your adorable feral boys, any color will be fine. Cause in about 5 yrs...you'll be painting again...😉
I think a light grey is a nice neutral color. Goes with anything and won't show the dirt quite as much. Gray can have blue undertones or green undertones so pick it carefully. Use a satin paint. It won't have a sheen, but will be washable and hold up much better.
Can have purple undertones as well.
With children (especially boys), use a scrubbable paint-suggestion from a mom of 3 adult sons!
I'm with her!! Definitely scrub-able!
Sam when you were talking about the paint bucket you forgot the most important thing, it's harder to step in.
when I was a kid my room was a pale green on all the walls.
I think light gray. It goes with any accent colors!
For us, the worst part of painting is the prep and cleanup, so we would stay far away from that Sidekick! The room looks great. It's always nice covering up the drywall.
It pretty much cleans itself watch the wagner video. Put it into water and let run for 10 minutes
Seems like more work than just using a standard roller.🤣
Cleaning isnt too bad actually, especially if painting a large area. It'a a timesaver, for sure.
Use Navajo white, it has a cream tint to it and you won't see handprints quite as easily as with pure white, I had 4 boys and we used that throughout the house
In a satin finish so it is washable
I just love ya'll ! You handle all projects with patience and kindness toward one another. What a true example of a Christian marriage.
As far as paint colors, a neutral color such a light tan, light gray or even a light, soft green wouldn't overpower the room but give it a little color other than start white. Whatever their comforters/spreads are can determine which neutral to use.
I know it is going to look great.
Can't wait to see what ya'll come up with next. 😊👍
Looks great...white goes with everything
I like light gray, also. It's very easy to change color schemes with. It's neutral but not sterile white. Semi gloss for clean up is important. Was it you Sam that said you took a piece of dirt into the paint store and asked them to match if for the color for your boys room color?
I do not use a special ceiling paint either, just straight forward emulsion paint. The legal building regs here in the UK are we can use any paint on the ceiling EXCEPT gloss, metal or any wood paints. Love the fresh white look of the boys room. It’s looking lovely and bright the white let the room stand out👍🏽
Having used Airless sprayers for 30 years I can tell you zero thinning is required. You could have done the entire room in 15 minutes or less. However, inside the overspray would have made it to the far end of the house regardless of any precautions you might have taken. The power roller is the best way to go.
Paint in the bucket with a grate is such an awesome idea. Thanks for sharing, I’ve never seen that done before. Ceiling looks great!
I like the white walls ideal and definitely you could bring color through the decor.
Thats a brand new room. Its looking great with just the primer.
GREAT JOB SAM AND ANGELA!! LOL LOOK OUT FLYING PAINT, WELL AT LEAST THE FANS WERE OFF.
Thanks! Now I've got an image of someone attaching something like paint sprayer nozzles to the blades of a fan and spraying the whole room with paint stuck in my head :-D
Sounds like an idea for a "Don't try this at home" TV show! The Germans once took an outdoor clothes drying rack (looks like an upturned umbrella with clothes lines strung between the spokes) and attached fireworks rockets to the ends of the spokes. About a third of the clothes flew away, another third got scorched and the rest was perfectly dry.

I agree with the light gray. I just painted my living room light gray and I love it.
Go with a light grey for the boys. It’s neutral but goes with everything. You both did a great job!
Thanks guys. Be Blessed❤️
I am obsessed with my Wagner roller! It’s so fast and easy!!
Works better for large jobs than small.
Remember it’s just paint, meaning it could always be changed. When my 12 year old daughter asked for a barn red bedroom I was shocked. But I painted it barn red. When she got married and moved out.
Good luck!!
Make sure you get a scrubable paint. An off white color or as someone else suggested a very pale grey or beige would be a good choice.
White walls keep you from being locked into a color....the bedspreads & curtains can be used as accent colors the boys like AND it's much easier to change if necessary rather than repainting.
Both did a good job👍😉
Dark green! Our favourite!
Fun to watch! Maybe a white with a cool color shade in it. Maybe blue, green or gray.
One of the best "Natural" and "Unsubscripted" videos I have seen. Nice job. Love the chemistry between the both of you. Well Done.

That was great fun and nice to have a couple fun competing, old way/new way...well done u2
I like your idea about posters very interchangeable
That power roller was really cool 😎! 😊👍💕💕💕
I love the music...... I got up and started doing the tip toe dance.
Thank goodness none of my kids wrote on the walls. Living in an apartment (rental) the walls were/is always white and I hated it but that's just me. Thanks for the demo. I get the feeling setup and cleanup takes longer than just rolling the traditional way. It looked like fun to use, though for ease of clean up, I’d go traditional.
I gotta say Sam, you have that little palm harbour single wide mobile home correct everytime .even I can say it .
With a nail go around the top of the can where the lid goes on. These holes will allow the paint to drip down inside of the can and enable you to get the top off much easier to get off as the paint will have gone back into the can.

You could do the wall with the door in it the accent color...and poster boards along each of the boys walls. Saves the wall from a bunch of holes. 😊
THAT IS 1 HELL OF A SPLATTER JOB!!!!
I would choose a beige or gray to hide dirt, just go light with them. Then you can paint other things like book shelves, dressers, bed frames and so on to bring in color.
It’s been a great journey watching all of y’all’s videos. It’s also been very fun and informative! I hope y’all keep them coming.
I enjoyed your video. Watching you ‘test-drive’ the Wagnar roller along with your shared commentary of what its like to use helped me to decide it’s a tool worth buying 😊 Thanks so much!
Get mark get set go😊
Thank you! I’m rehabbing a doublewide. I am glad you like the sidekick. I’m going to order one! I have the whole place to paint.
A Cute Couple! The Best of Everything to you!
There is also clean up time to consider roller vs Wagner and also set up time. Love your guys work
One side of the boys fav. Color and the other there favorite.👍🙋♀️🌻🙏
I have no issues using tray. Most of the time is spent doing edges and taping. I am very much interested in using some edging tool for the next paint job I do.

Because my neck is messed up, I can not paint ceilings again. Not fun. I remember rolling the 25 foot ceilings at a department store I worked at years ago. We ended up using scaffolding because 25 foot extentions make your paint job look streaky.
What a great idea for the roller of paint , never ever thought trays were that good but used them .....well,,,,because they are what we use .
I must say it’s very very bright but you two are working very well 👍🏽
You guys are so awesome!! I loved the new gadget - but, I would hate the cleanup afterwards. So old method for me. Can't wait to see this room finished.
Angela was super excited about the new toy! Now I want one! There are many neutral colors you can go with if you decide against white. Maybe a gray, tan, etc.
it is amazing how much difference a coat of ceiling paint makes
My daughter picked pretty much that same purple when she was 5 now at 15 she changed to a Medium grey and its nice
If you are doing the room where they each get half, make it where the older one has to walk through the younger ones half to get to his half. Let them pick their own paint color. Have them help a little too. It makes them feel like it's actually their's.
Hooo wheeeee, love that newfangled tool! If you decide on an accent wall, I’d do the window wall. Then tone it up or down with window coverings.
Ceiling paint is the same as wall paint usually the only difference is some are tinted to be pinkish while wet drying to white. Light colors are good never white hee hee. Love to see this coming together. Glad you turned the fan off lol.
I like the accent wall ideal.
Maybe white with a blue accent wall? On a neutral side of the room.
This is an old school idea but it works really well I think one solid color wall one stripped with the boys favorite colors then a common colors on the other two walls when I was young I had a yellow solid two antique white one stripped with like soft teal orange blue greens at their age still very pretty colors or go more bold for your boys do a color print on the computer in the room to check it out
I love white. But, think Blue or green might be nice. My daughter has a white room with a black wall. (accent) worked well for her.
Great job,ill bet the boys will be glad to have their room back!
That works pretty slick!
