Prince of Egypt is the most faithful adaptation. A beautiful movie that wasn’t afraid to be directly Judeo-Christian religious. This movie didn’t even have the Burning Bush right and attributed it to Malak who is just an Angel (and depending on the source, potentially a demon) and called Moses a “General” which he was not. Not related but also in Noah they only referred to God as “The Creator” and really seemed to suggest he was a bad god like how he punished the fallen angels because they wanted to help humanity. But I digress. The only thing POE didn’t get right was the ending scene during the “Deliver Us” reprise. Moses should have been bronzed out with white hair after seeing the back of God’s head while getting the Commandments. Oh and at this point the Israelites were sinning in every way while parading around the golden calf. But that would kinda kill the mood of the movie so I can let it slide. Oh and while you can debate this, and it’s not pivotal to the story even within the Bible’s account, it’s very likely Moses knew his Hebrew heritage. His adopted mother likely didn’t hide the fact he was adopted. It’s suggested with context clues that he knew he was Hebrew and that was why he held sympathy for the slaves.
@cobaltprime9467 just wanted to mention that it is directly stated that Moses knew he was a Hebrew and adopted. Hebrews 11:23-26 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.
