Medusa's face when she can't turn him to stone and when she dies makes my heart hurt.
There's a story on the web that twist the Medusa part around; instead of murdering her like the story goes, one of the guys travelling with Perseus gouges out his own eyes so that Medusa won't be lonely anymore. For this, Medusa goes willingly along and aids Perseus, destroying the kraken.

They put a lot of time and effort into the cgi.. for good reason. Although silly by today's standard, the original was a beloved movies. It was harrihausers last movie and an end of an era when it came to stop motion mosnters. The time an effort it took to make the stop motion creatures in the first one was epic.. thousands of hours of precision movement and film makers know it.. so the remake using cgi had to as good as it gets otherwise folks were going to scoff at the remake

Inaccuracy counter with Greek mythology (*takes in a huge breath):
1. The titans actually ruled for a long, long, time and the gods took like forever to kill them so it was far from "quick." It took ten years, to be exact, and the war was called the Titanomachy in Greek mythology.
2. Okay everyone here knows this already, but there was no Kraken in Greek mythology (duh).
3. Cronus, the king titan, was slaughtered by the god, and also his son, Zeus alongside his brothers and sisters; they didn't create anything to help kill the titans. The Cyclops (who were also treated badly by Cronus) were the ones who built weapons for the gods to kill the titans with.
4. In Greek mythology, Hades was never sentenced to the Underworld. Instead, it went more like as follows. Zeus: "Ight so imma go live in a cloud and bang every woman that isn't my wife." Poseidon: "Um... water or something." Hades: "What's lower than the sea?" There are other interpretations, like the gods picking gems from a bag (diamond, sapphire, ruby interpretation).
5. The titan Prometheus, who was the titan god of fire, actually created humans by stealing fire and giving it to humanity to let them thrive. This act betrayed the gods and so he was sentenced to being chained to a boulder and having his guts eaten out by an eagle.
6. The polis of Argos was actually dedicated to Hera, not Zeus. And Hera hated Zeus so it wouldn't make sense to have a ginormous statue of him in the place.
7. Perseus's adoptive father, Dictys (the fisherman), was killed trying to abduct the god Dionysus. Maybe it was a different Dictys, but Hades didn't kill Perseus's father.
8. Here's an interesting one. So while yes, Perseus is a demigod and a son of Zeus, Io, his love interest in this movie, is also technically his sister, and is also technically like his great-great-grandma or something (the timelines don't match up in the movie).
9. Here's another messed-up one. So Acrisius was Perseus's grandfather. And if he were also his father in this movie.... wth.
10. Draco in greek mythology was actually an Athenian legislator.
11. Perseus's gear from the gods does include a sword gifted from Zeus, but it was actually a Harpe (type of sickle-sword) and was adamantine. He also was given a knapsack from the Hesperides to safely contain Medusa's head, was lent Hades's helm to be invisible (Hades was actually a pretty cool guy in Greek mythology, unlike the awful depictions in movies), was lent Hermes's sandals to fly, and Athena gave him a polished shield. I don't know if the interpretation of "adamantine" is supposed to mean the archaic Greek meaning of diamond or just "unbreakable."
12. Pegasus was the son of Medusa, who popped out of her head after Perseus decapitated her. So for one, Pegasus shouldn't exist that early on, and for another, he should hate Perseus's guts. Pegasus was also described as a winged white stallion.
13. Acrisius was turned into a satyr-like creature, not whatever the heck the movie depicted.
14. There were definitely no Djinns in Greek mythology; I think they were from Arabian religious systems I think.
15. The "three hideous creatures" appear to be a depiction of the Grey Sisters, or the Graeae. They actually not only shared an eye but also shared a single tooth.
16. The "sinister demon" on the ferryboat to the Underworld's name is Charon, and his duty was to ferry people across the River Styx. He definitely didn't have people pulling the boat (unless he did and scammed like literally everyone).
17. The layer that men can only enter was something else in the Underworld developed by Athena.
18. Medusa never used a bow.
19. As previously mentioned, Perseus had a shield given to him by Athena. He used the reflection in that shield to decapitate Medusa. Also as previously mentioned, when he did, Pegasus and Chrysaor came out of her headless body. Another previous fact (last one, I swear) is that the fabric he used to wrap up Medusa's head was a special knapsack from the Hesperides.
20. I don't think Io was killed by Acrisius, or by anyone at all. She was revived anyways, but still.
21. After killing Medusa, Perseus proceeded to use the head to kill Phineus, the person who was supposed to marry Andromeda, and Polydectes.
22. Forgot to point this one out but the previous point reminded me. Perseus married Andromeda and never had a love relationship with Io, who was long dead.
23. Final one to wrap it up. So there's also a whole bunch of timeline inconsistencies, but oh well.
*pants violently
Alright, I'm done.
Edit: There's probably a lot more than what I have here, but I don't have the patience to write them all lol.

ITS CALLED A STORY
@@dreamz-plays more like a on propose
In some flawed cases this trope in storytelling is called Fringing.
Some important loved one is killed off to give the hero anger and drive him on,
Usually that's their only purpose existing in the story, or they are suddenly chosen to be that sacrificial character and it ruins their development and relationships with other characters.
Though in this case his other allies also die so I think its more like a survivor's guilt.

Hades got it bad but i may top that:
Menelaos was a wise, faithful and heroic king of Mykene and Sparta unlike his very ambious brother Agamennon and also choosen by Helena. The Movie troy (the abormination with Brad Pit as Archilees) made him into a fat alchoholic.
Well it makes sense, they're trying to make it resemble like biblical tale ,the Greek gods are represented as benevolent and good when in mythology being nothing of that sort while needing someone to play the devil , Hades fits the role cuz his ruler of the underworld and I guess underworld, hellfire, death are all interrelated?. I just wish there was a Greek mythology retalling like this why the gods are actually how they are and humans are rebelling against like in this movie, but this is something we can't from Hollywood
Hades is just a guy that loves his wife and dog
It's funny seeing humans fight giant monsters in movies and winning. A human has about 0% chance at defeating a bear in hand-to-hand combat and a bear is only a bit bigger than a human, let alone a 50 foot long scorpion lol
That's why they didn't engage in hand to hand combat, when there was only 2 of them they divided and surrounded them with weapons, a very well known way that humans were able to beat a lot of creatures bigger than them in the past even when our weapons weren't that advanced

Leviathan is a real serpent underneath the ocean. People wonder why the ocean is so deep and human cant create a machine strong enough to go that deep because the water pressure is too strong. Beautiful story telling
I saw this movie when I was young, so awesome and wholesome
I thought that Medusa's curse would end once she dies, apparently not I wonder why? Her servered head is still able to turn all living flesh to stone. So the Kraken is made of flesh, which means that this monster can still be killed by ordinary weapons, Perseus made the long journey for nothing,
It is also the case in the mythology, some say her head being tossed into the ocean is why we have coral reefs.
Apparently the ugliness petrified the water somehow...
@@kennethsatria6607 LOLLLL
No, the kraken is too powerful for anyone that isnt a god. Medusa was the only mortal/demi god creature that stood a chance. The curse also doesnt dissapear if she dies coz its a curse that is usable not an actual ability. Lastly this was also the case in greek mythology. Medusa's severed head could turn people to stone.
@@rarescevei8268 yea but in the myth it made sense because it was because of her ugliness and not some magic power she had control over. also in the myth perseus just had to kill medusa because he as well was a half god.. medusas two sisters however was immortal and so even perseus could not kill them. the kraken stuff is made up. kraken is nordic folklore

Medusas confused look was precious 😁
Man I actually kind of hate how modern media portrays Hades not just the character but the place as well. Hades the person is supposed to be MUCH closer to a dark hero than a true villain and while yes he manipulated a chick into being his IMMORTAL wife Zeus literally raped not just one but several women, while Hades the place was a multi layered place true some areas therein were much like the depictions assume but just as many were closer to depictions of heaven. Its bullshit and while I LOVED James Woods version of Hades it still did him an injustice that never seems to fucking stop!
I totally feel you. In actual mythology, Hades doesn't have many stories other than the kidnapping story and even then it isn't much. Like Hades went to Zeus and everything for Persephone's hand which Zeus agreed to. So it was almost like a consensual kidnapping in a way since he was given permission from the king of Gods but c'mon it's Zeus. As if he knows how to take care of a woman. And from there Hades is pretty tame and Persephone ate the fruit which caused her to stay there for half the year and the other half with her mother in Olympus. I would believe that Zeus had several stories of pursuing women and taking them without consent and being mega arrogant and making terrible decisions would have a lot of horrible movies about him. But nnnoooooo! The guy who is in charge of the underworld which means HEAVEN and HELL! Cause there isn't a god that has been brought forward to be in charge of heaven in all of Mythology! Only Hades! Should have a few good stories. I mean the man's a softy! When a man came to the underworld to ask for his lover's soul he was gonna say no until his wife said yes. He gave Persephone the right to be the queen of the underworld and have the right to make the same judgment as him. Since I'm pretty sure they mention in the story that they are BOTH sitting on a throne. So it's not like she's really suffering down there. She might fall in love with him, she might not but at least Hades gives her respect.
@@kaygrrl9004Bloody hell. An I thought I knew a lot about hades. Your level of knowledge on him is impressive to say the VERY least.
@@chaoslacroix7180 I love mythology and even though whenever they make movies based on them I notice they always paint Hades as the bad guy. When Zeus and the other Gods are the only ones who cause these problems in the first place. Hades pretty much minds his own business. I believe he’s the only god that is the most sympathetic to humans since he’s constantly around them regardless if it’s the heaven or hell portion. So he understands them more while the other gods don’t interact with humans all that often and make horrible decisions. Don’t get me wrong Disney Hades is awesome but I wish they would stop making Hades the scapegoat for a villain whenever they make these movies. Because I’m pretty sure I heard from somewhere that he choose to be in the underworld because he knew his brothers wouldn’t be able to handle the responsibility. Though I could be wrong. Cause I think there’s another version where he lost and was stuck with the king of the underworld while his brothers won the other positions. I don’t remember it’s been a bit. Hopefully one day they will make him into a good guy because the man deserves a bit of praise every once in a while.
@@kaygrrl9004 Love the fact that Zeus is a literal mass rapist while Hades at his worst underhandedly convinced a chick to be his immortal wife and treats her reasonably well. In genuine fairness to Hades though, after being EATEN ALIVE AND WHOLE by kronos as a kid and taking the literal worst job in the universe as an adult I'd be a bit unhinged too. Also. As for hoping for a story where he's finally the hero.....Is it wrong of me to still want James Woods as his voice actor? Dude was hilarious as Hades in the movie. XD
